    while you can convert energy into mass, you can't actually make a moon sized object from the impact energy of the comet in the video. If you do the math, the comet has an energy of 1.88*10^31 J, not taking relativistic effects into account. The moon however has a mass of about 7.3*10^22 kg which corresponds to about 6.6*10^39 J. So while the comet has an enormous amount of kinetic energy, the fragments would likely be parts of earth that got thrown into space.

Sadly, my Universe Sandbox 2 game has a glitch where no matter what, it doesn't show craters or the impact marks.

    About creating hypothetic moon. Have u checked mass of the earth, and mass of the every fly-off object from that crash? If u would, please check the mass diference between start state - earth and asteroid and end state post-earth and every object that fly away. then compare it to kinetic energy frmo that asteroid.
    Because mass creation from energy is not as simple that it would create whole moon-like object, it would be mostly hydrogen if not just an electrons. Quantum mechanincs would explain more what types of particles would have been created in that crash.

    If your jumping speed on Earth is 3 m/s, then on Halley with its much smaller gravity, you'd jump much higher and faster as the force generated by your legs would still be about the same, but you're now counteracting a drastically smaller gravity.

    If energy can be made into matter, what would the matter it makes be made of? Like would it me silicate based? Metallic? Carbon? I know that burning things like carbon (coal) and oil makes energy but before this, I had never heard of energy being made into matter. How exactly does this process work, and what would the matter made by the energy be made of?

    About the last minute;
    Wouldn't the velocity of an average human jump depend on the gravity of the object we're on?

    • @Aptiz712
      @Aptiz712 8 лет назад

      +ivan2294 No, the acceleration of a human coming down depends on it tho.

    • @Sam-oz8pn
      @Sam-oz8pn 8 лет назад

      +EggRollian I don't think so, the speed at which the human comes down is equal to the speed it jumped up at, and since human legs can only move so fast, the return velocity is pretty much unaffected

    • @Aptiz712
      @Aptiz712 8 лет назад

      Hi Bye mm...i see.

    • @CoelhoPlaysMultigames
      @CoelhoPlaysMultigames 8 лет назад

      +Hi Bye I think that, because of gravity, we can jump higher but we will come down faster too. Like a boomerang, you will throw it at X speed, but because of the time and the effects, it will come back at Y speed

    • @DaGn0528
      @DaGn0528 8 лет назад

      +ivan2294 I don't think it does. What gravity does affect is the downward acceleration. In other words, you'd be in the air for a longer time and higher on an object with less mass (due to it's lower gravitational pull/acceleration) than an object with more mass.

    Really cool to watch. But I have one question. what's the difference between Halley's comet and the first metorite? Since you sent them both at just under light speed, I would have to assume that the mass is the difference. But by how much? I mean before you struck it I would assumed Halley would have done less damage. Does Universe 2 take into account that one object is made of Rock/maybe nickel and the other is snow and Ice, or is it just Mass x acceleration?

    What's the difference? Mass - KG / Weight - N ? Isn't weight the same as Mass?

    • @user-rb7wm3ol2m
      @user-rb7wm3ol2m 7 лет назад

      No, weight isn't the same as mass, mass is a property of an object that doesn't change if you don't change the object, whilst weight is the amount of force that the object is being pulled at, and changes depending on how strong the gravitational field is at the place the object is located at
