That Job repented of the very error Elihu pointed out (which is justifying himself at the detriment of God), after God encountered Job in that terrifying encounter, tells me Elihu was more right than you probably think.
Also, let's not forget that God condemned Job's three friends but He did not condemn Elihu. I understand why people may not like him so much but I have enough reason to believe that he spoke much more truthfully than the other three and I believe God granted him wisdom to do so just as he claimed.
I find it interesting how some of the things Elihu said foreshadowed the things God would say in later chapters. I just don't think it was a coincidence.

You are missing the boat. The only thing that Job really needed to repent of is not declaring the righteousness of God, which he ended up repenting of, and being restored all the more, even as Elihu said. Job had to make a sacrifice for his other friends misconceptions and wronghoods, but not for Elihu. In fact God actually picked up from where Elihu left off. Elihu's speech served as the springboard, or introduction to Almighty God's speech.
It's not that Job said so, or thought he was doing so, but he was not justifying God, none the less. He was, by his focus on his own righteousness and justification, saying that God was unrighteous to be punishing him. He was implying, by his focus on his own righteousness, very strongly that God was unjust, for God would have to be unjust to punish Job without cause.
Job was tacitly declaring God of unrighteousness. How? Job center of focus was upon his own justification, NOT on justifying God. The reasonable, logical extension is that if God is allowing harm to Job, which he didn't deserve, than God is being unjust.
The whole point is that God wasn't just proving something to satan, He was bringing Job to a much higher level of spirituality than he could of ever have even dreamed of, without going through the trials that God allowed him to go through, presumably to placate satan. God has a much higher and loving reason than merely placating satan, He was elevating Job to a much greater understanding and knowledge of Himself than even Job previously had.
Read about Job repenting in ashes and sackcloth. What was he repenting of? That he, yes, needed to justify God over himself. He saw that for all of his own righteousness, more so than any other person on the earth, that in the sight of absolute perfect and holy God he was yet a very impure sinner.
He learned more clearly about the amazing grace of God than he could have ever imagined before.
I believe that it was analogous to the diffence between the Old Testament and The New Testament, passing from the law into grace.
Elihu was young and sometimes hard on Job, but his heart was in the right place, and overall so was his message to Job, and all of us. Always, aways justify God first, in thought, conversation, actions, and most especially in heart.

It seems to me that only the wise men of today find fault with Elihu.
My Question to this man and the rest of them is.., If Elihu was wrong in any way, why Didn't GOD Himself find fault with him. This young ignorant, loud mouth, disrespectful man went on for Six Chapters and God didn't mention him. Job gave offerings for Himself and the other three under the direction of GOD. Elihu was left out. Seems that Elihu gets a bad rap from men today solely because He was the Youngest. And I don't think it is wise when reading a book like Job, that we Exaggerate the narratives or paint mental pictures that The Bible does not paint, particularly of someone like Elihu.

David I have a question , if I received justice by the sword which I believe I did, with regard to my iniquities, yet God placed me in a new procedure and medical attention to survive, l get it, I was forgiven , what am I to conclude from this ch,verse from JOB that is so similar to life I've experienced.

Pastor David, asking an honest question from the true place I'm in n think, rather than perhaps what I should say! I find it so hard to understand. You say God was honouring Job, all this was for his good, it was promoting him to a worthy saint. Why does Job want this? Wouldn't it be easier to settle for a lesser place, to 'just' get to heaven as a door steward than an elevated position? When life is so, so desperate and such deep hurt, I just want to shout at God to be merciful n kind n not push me so far, no further please. Why does God keep giving/allowing such affliction, such trouble, such hurt? Did Job just forget the sons n daughters he'd had? Can the hurt and such depths of distress ever be forgotten n put right? Do we ever see an end like Job?Life is ending in hurt and distress and death with no relief. When we get to heaven (as believers) we shall be changed to be perfectly like Jesus in the "twinkling of an eye" , why do we need to suffer so much now? Who cares what place we have in heaven? (Are there places, hierarchy?) I'll just be overjoyed to get there! Why did God have to 'boast' about Job to satan? Why couldn't Job just continue living his life as a Godly man? I repent if these are sin filled comments but I have to ask and say it as it is. Who chooses an endless life of pain and suffering?
    Thanks

I want to hear more before i declare Elihu a liar. Elihu said something that got my attention. He hears the breath of God? He receives songs in the night? It's one thing to know we have been forgiven of our sins. Its another to have the confidence /faith of God's forgiveness already in hand for some unknown sin not yet committed. I think Elihu speaks of the renewal of the eagle; not the initial beginning, but the birth of the spirit of life in our blood. When we have grown into faith that quickens heart, soul and mind, we can love God with all our heart, soul and mind. But something remains to be quickened. The Word is fully formed in Job, but has the life in Job's blood been quickened? Because God's voice is in the breath of inspiration. How do we explain God's breath. Does it rise from his presence in our quickened blood? Or does is come into our ear on the breeze? Elihu said something about the pressure of the wine within. It sounded like Elihu experienced that quickening of the blood as new wine. Elihu is on to something. IMO, God is doing a work in Job. He may have used satan to accomplish his goal, but Job will receive the highest gift of God. He will experience to presence of God in a wonderful conversation. Job has sought God's presence like Adam walking and talking with him in the garden. Have you ever heard the audible voice of God? The still small voice of his breath? This is NOT the voice of your thoughts. This is the voice prophets hear and record. ▪︎ Do not despise Elihu.
