I saw Dalton at Vegas Summer League and he is the real deal.I love his confidence and his attitude he has fire. I remember the other year at Summer League I watched JHS (Just Hella Sorry) and before the season started I called him trash and he was trash and I still feel the same. He looks like a really good mens league player and thats it. I am a legit 6'3 and stood right next to him and he is no way the size he is listed at. He was a waste of of number 17 pick we could have had GG Jackson or Jaime, If we dont improve at the guard position we are doomed. The 4th highest average point total can flip between Austin, Rui and Dalton as the season goes on. But to win Rookie of the year, you need to be one of the top 3 rookies in average point total. I can't see Dalton getting enough minutes or touches to make a case for rookie of the year. We can be confident in saying Dalton will be top 3 in 3 point field goal attempts and 3 point percentage amongst rookies. He may have a few highlight dunks as well.
People are writing off JHS way too early. He could be a real rotation piece for us this year if we see him take another step including not letting the nerves get to him. Would be huge for the roster if we see a similar version of what he displayed in the g league
I do think JHS still has the potential to be a quality role player. A combo guard that can hold his own on defense in the right system. JHS knock coming out of college was lacking a 3 pt shot, and not ready to run an offense. That told me he was going to need some time down in the g-league getting reps. I get Gabe got hurt which thrusted JHS into the back up PG role, but it made no sense to me to still put the ball in his hands while having multiplied ball handlers on the team. That just set him up for failure IMO, and I blame Ham for that. On top of that waiting more than half the season before sending him down to the g-league cost him much need opportunities to work on him game, and I put that on Pelinka. I believe JHS will need one more year away before he can help a team like the Lakers. I also think a motion offense like the one JJ plans to run will also help JHS since the ball will not be in his hands long periods at a time.
Max Lewis was equally as worthless in NBA and not as good as JHS at all in G-League. Ppl hating on JHS over Whitmore, Jaquez Jr, Podz etc in first round, but for some reason giving Lakers a pass for passing on Trayce Jackson Davis or GG Jackson at 40th pick!
JHS is a big, strong kid. He has the body to play in the NBA right now. He has the strength for the NBA. He'll be difficult to stop in the paint. Once he gets his shot down he'll be great, a starter.
