Me in March: oh I’ll be looser with when I put out these album roundups, so that I don’t always put them out the day new albums drop Me in April: *puts out a video the day after a whole bunch of new albums drop* I know there’s stuff from the 29th that I didn’t get to, but my sense of self would crumble if I released a video about April releases in May. I’ll cover the albums I missed next time. Thanks for watching!
I left a comprehensive lil comment of good ass records from this month. And I’m also pretty bummed about TILT. Nowhere near their first. Great vid as always! Happy to see this channel grow the way it has and you’re a very fun host
@@MicTheSnare Also probably the best use of text fonts on all of RUclips. It seems like such a small detail, but it really gives your videos that high-quality look.
As a Brazilian I can tell that Anitta incorporated a lot of Brazilian rhythms in the album such as funk carioca, samba, brega funk, bossa nova, but still made it sound fresh with an international-appealing pop sound. The girl is very talented, and smart! Thanks for reviewing that among all others.
The way I cheered out loud when Bronco was one of the recs at the end, it’s SUCH a special record and I’m glad Orville is getting the recognition he deserves for it!!
Seeing that Eurovision is coming up I’d love a quick album review style video giving your opinion on this years crop of songs. There’s a good amount of genre diversity and some genuinely great music this year and I’d love to hear your opinion on it.
I LOVE your style of editing. The visuals and the way you talk about music keeps me watching even when you talk about the bands I never even hear about before. My man, you're my fav music youtuber and one of my fav youtubers oat. Keep up the good work.
The thing about Jack White for me love him or hate him, his uniqueness and personality pop on his albums. Whenever I listen to a Jack White for me personally I feel like I’m being transported into another telescope of a time and experience, and again that’s not anyone else’s own experience I’m sure people have way different experience, but for me personally I just always like the different twists and ways that he gives to those records to give that flavor that it needs to make that record shine to its highest ability that he can, sure it may not be for everyone and I understand if your one of those who is skeptical of what Jack could release as a solo artist but for me awesome job Jack!
I didn't love OG at first, but I legit like every song now. Every song just feels something special. Also, I think the beat of Kepler-22b itself is already a sample of another Australian artist that Stu found in a random record store in the U.S. He spoke about it in a recent interview iirc Great vid as always!
I've never underestimated your reviewing capacities, but now I'm convinced you're absolutely great at it. What convinced me was your synthetic and precise analysis of Anitta's release. Brazilian funk is not an easy genre to get in to, imagine reviewing it. Your impressions are absolutely right and I'm glad that the discourse surrounding the international carrer that Anitta is trying to make is reaching people like you. Funk is an ever evolving and rapidly changing genre. The lack of proper documentation makes it harder for non Brazilians (even for native Brazilians) to keep up with everything. It's a genre whose artistic vanguard is very distant from the eyes of mainstream, capitalistic media and should be celebrated more. Anitta's new carrer move is bringing gringos attention to it, but we should not forget where this genre comes from: lower class, unassisted, proletarian, hard workers Brazilian people.
Goodbye Mr. Blue is still my favorite song on Chloe and the Next 20th Century. Not only does it resonate the most with me on a personal level, but it reminds me so much of 60s and 70s songwriters and I have genuinely enjoyed watching FJM just kinda go off in places where even most of his ardent fans weren't expecting. Q4 is probably the closest song on the album that gets back to the biting sardonic lyrics on Pure Comedy/ILYHB, but still remarkably different. Also, I LOVE that you put Orville Peck in your reviews this month. Bronco is *such* a good album, even if country music/sounds aren't your thing. The album (and his voice) are such a throwback to old 60s/70s country, but with more modern storytelling (no "everyone left me" or "I murdered my lover" tropes to be found, which is much appreciated).
Don’t forget - King Gizz also released an EP with another Australian band, Tropical F*ck Storm, called Satanic Slumber Party. I highly recommend if you’re already a Gizz fan who wants more weird!
Thanks for mentioning the crazy awesome random guitar solo on Chloe! I loved the surprise of that, it felt unique to anything I've ever heard before. Great roundup, this is turning out to be quite an amazing year for music after a couple slower ones.
Jack white is absolutely legendary. You should totally do a deep dive on The White Stripes or anything involving Jack white. There’s so many bops that he has been a part of and so many bands as well. One recommendation to anyone reading this is Another way to die by Alicia Keys & Jack white
also mic, Raveena released her newest album "Asha's Awakening" in February, I think? I would love it if you could review it in the next monthly mix or something. I don't recall you talking about her in this year's monthly mixes. thanks a lot for always giving us amazing content about music.
So many great albums this month, and this is a fantastic recap of them. Wet Leg, Orville Peck, Pup, King Gizz, and Fontaines DC are all album of the year contenders imo (and there are quite a few you've mentioned that I'm really excited to check out!) I'd like to give a shout out to the new Alabaster DePlume record as well, it's one of the most fascinating and unique albums I've heard in a long time
Good morning sir! Well, as I suggested last month and would like to suggest again, I would love to hear you do a Deep Discog Dive on As I Lay Dying - the trend-setting, award-winning, fan favorite "Christian" metal band named after a William Faulkner novel; with a frontman who attempted to have his wife killed, and as is now back as the band's frontman once more, but without the guitarist that made them household names.
Really liked Fear of the Dawn and Wet Leg's self titled. I didn't expect to like wet leg as much as I do especially since I took my time to warm up to Chaise Lounge
just wanted to say thanks for putting out this video. i’ve been stuck in a negative loop but your positivity, tasteful humour and love for music has given me a boost. thank you 🍎 🚂 🤍
Yet another great video - Thank you! As an aside, unless I have a variant of refrigerator blindness, you forget to list Fontaines DC - Skinty Fia in the description.
Hope you'll cover kehlani's new record in next month's mix, since it was released yesterday and probably just missed your cutoff date! I really enjoyed it
Love these MMMs! Mic, My recommendation for you to check next mouth is The album Lad Ash by Real Lies, it's like if The Streets meet up with Burial and a 90s techno producer and made a sad yet dancey album
Always enjoy these reviews and usually come away with some albums to listen to that aren't the metal recommendations that I usually get (gonna check out the Let's Eat Grandma and Hatchie). Here are my thoughts from the albums discussed: 1. PUP: A really good album that would rank higher within the others I have heard this year if it didn't have as bad production/mixing as it does. 2. Wet Leg: I didn't really get into the indie scene of the early 2000s so this sound is reasonably fresh to me and the band does it pretty well. I really enjoyed the album. 3. The Linda Lindas: Highly enjoyable mix of punk rock, power pop, and new wave that is very easy to digest with its 25 minute runtime. 4. RHCP: What works for me on this album really works for me but everything else drags it down to a point where I wouldn't call it close to a favorite of the year, especially with the length of the album.
Mic The Snare rules! Anwyays, my thoughts on the albums I've heard. If an album isn't mentioned, I haven't listened to it yet. The Unraveling Of PUPTHEBAND: A really cool toe-tapping pop-punk album, with cool themes and awesome bangers, especially "Robot Writes A Love Song". Wet Leg: I feel conflicted about this LP. While none of the songs are "bad", and Wet Leg are very talented artists, the album feels more like a collage of indie band sounds rather than its own thing. These ladies definitely have potential to make some phenomenal indie music, but they need to find their own sound first. Romona Park Broke My Heart: A downgrade from Vince's amazing self-titled LP from last year, but still an incredible vibe with some great toe-tappers. (watch my moves): I LOVE THIS ALBUM SO MUCH! IT'S SUCH AN AMAZING VIBE!
I'm a massive FJM fan but Chloe is proving to be something I'm going to have to sit with for a while. It kinda just passed through me on first listen. That new Orville Peck record is so good though. _Kalahari Down_ strikes something deep in my soul that I can't put into words
TBH, maybe I've been tainted working in hospitality, but that FJM record's sound activated my fight or flight reaction from being forced to listen to Buble for three months non-stop between November to January means I just cannot listen to singer-songwriter mixed with big band.
Michael T. Snare, for next time could you please cover the album / short film compilation Profound Mysteries by Royksopp. And also, maybe Stardust and / or DISSCO :: PART II and It’s Time To Rise From The Grave by Undeath. Not really sure if you’re into metal but the latter is a good time
I think you would love the production on the Dolorio y Los Tunantes' debut album "Esas Mutancias...". If you don't click with a post-punk album every year, don't worry, this is not from the UK. I was the AOTY 2021 in Chile. Definitely check it out.
What a coincidence about the Mic and Jack White blue hair stuff because I had just watched a Phineas and Ferb creator Dan Povenmire video about Vincent Martella's blue hair to immediately click on this.
Hey Mic! You should really review the new Weiland album in your next monthly mix. It's an amazing synth-pop/wave record by Weiland, which he made a dramatic change in his style from pluggnb to synth-pop with the help from Mike Dean. It's my favorite record from this year, you should check it out!
bro no one show this man experimental music if he thinks boarding house reach has "no songs" (over and over and over, connected by love, ice station zebra, what's done is done, and humoresque which is literally an arrangement of a classical piece). I love this album (its actually one of my favorites of all time) and it certainly does have its weird and experimental moments, but it is by no means this crazy revolutionary album with no songs lol. Also It's almost dry by king push is goated
Love it, as always! Real curious to see what you think of May’s offerings because my running list of releases is not nearly as exhaustive but May already looks *stacked*
15:09 mm i'm spying with my little eye some really interesting choices for a DDD🕵 hey Mr. Mic the Snare sir, maybe you can consider doing one for Deerhoof in the future? 👉👈 I don't think I have to introduce them to you, but they are legends. just an idea, and let this thing you call "democracy" do its work😁

Dude, you have really cool tastes. I haven't heard of like, 90% of the albums in this video.
please cover Mahal by Toro Y Moi I beg of you Mr. Snare it is so good listen to it
please listen to ivory by omar apollo
I know it's unlikely but I've got to at least recommend considering including Soft Spot by Chelsea Jade in that next roundup.
Literally the best music channel on RUclips. Tied with Todd in the shadows, and trust me this is the biggest praise I can muster for someone
Aw thank you so much!!
Those are my two favs as well
I'd consider prof skye the best music channel on RUclips that I have discovered so far, but mic and todd are also pretty great
Idk, I think Anthony Fantano across all his channels is my favorite, but I do like this channel
these 2 are my favs as well! it's fresh air from Fantano lol
I love seeing your editing in the QARs gradually evolve with each video. That spinning album cover effect is so satisfying.
Thanks! It’s something I’ve tried to improve on with each video so that means a lot!

I normally get bored with just straight album review (with the exception of todd in the shadows) but ur channel always manages to keep me engaged

Yayyyy the jingle is back
Thank you for another great video!!
Man the amount of work that Mic does on any video that he does is fantastic awesome job as always man!
I enjoyed all the albums that were given the more in depth reviews. Jack White’s album in particular was nuts in the best way
THANK GOD THE INTRO MUSIC IS BACK
Mr. Mic Man has officially taken his obsession with Eiffel 65’s “Blue (Da Ba Dee)” to new heights by literally becoming blue.
Glad you brought back the intro and the jingle. The video works so much better this way.
I'm happy this channel exists thanks
The new Misty was Great, glad you enjoyed it as well
Very glad you liked Serpentina! One of my favorite albums of the year so far!

It's quite weird that, since Boarding House Reach was my intro to Jack White, it's never seemed too far out there
Yet again mic and Karsten Runquist have uploaded their monthly videos at the same time they must coordinating
I love the sense of humor in your videos.
“Half the record is Oddments, and the other half is Infest the Rats Nest.” WELP, I KNOW WHAT I’M DOING FOR MY NEXT HOUR AND A HALF
Nice new haircut Mic

bronco has some fantastic highlights, c’mon baby cry has gotta be one of the best songs of the year so far
Agreed! That may be my favorite on the album. Though I am really fond of Daytona Sand as well.
YES, MICTHESNARE NOW LIKES FONTAINES DC
Loved the new Jack White. Not as good as White Blood Cells or Elephant, in my opinion, but I still think it’s one of his best in his solo output.
Elephant is an enduring classic for real
Different phases of a brilliant artist, in my opinion
Thanks for introducing me to Learn 2 Swim that album is right up my alley.

I never thought I'd say this but, thank you for introducing me to a band called Let's Eat Grandma. Their simply delightful

Hi Mic!
I NOTICED THE COMMUNITY MUSIC AT THE END
Dude you’ve got to check out five seconds flat. it’s my favourite album of the year so far and I’m sure you will love it too
What a coincidence about the Mic and Jack White blue hair stuff because I had just watched a Phineas and Ferb creator Dan Povenmire video about Vincent Martella's blue hair to immediately click on this.
Don't worry about all the albums dropping yesterday. Take your time! We want quality over quantity.

you should check out american gurl by kilo kish, technically a march release but I really enjoyed it

hey Mr. Mic the Snare sir, maybe you can consider doing one for Deerhoof in the future? 👉👈 I don't think I have to introduce them to you, but they are legends.
just an idea, and let this thing you call "democracy" do its work😁

king glizzy broke my mind
please could you cover Lizzy McAlpine’s new album Five Seconds Flat? definitely my favourite april release!
Sault also has a new album out! You'll have to check it out if you've missed it. It's maybe one of the best produced albums I've ever heard
I hope you can also release RUclips Music playlist for these videos
I think Mic is having a font identity crisis
King gizzard is love, king gizzard is life
