Unfortunately, this is why people are so scared to have their antique items "restored".. you made a good effort, but it fell short. That blade needed aviut 6 hours more polishing, that handle was sub-par, and the scabbard won'tast 5 minutes. Entertaining tk watch, but it hurt seeing a 170 year old knife be ruined like that.
I don't like it, you didn't keep anything from the original appearance of the knife. Only grinders and files, you have ruined the look and value of this knife.
А никому не показалось что на обгоревшей рукояти почему то белый пепельный цвет? И это значит что рукоять горела не так давно. А не лежала обгоревшая долгое время.
Wow! What a fantastic restoration on this rusty old Dagger. Your eye to detail is amazing. The handle and the blade cover are absolutely gorgeous. You are a true Craftsman/Artist. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to your next one. I'm subscribing today. Be safe and stay healthy
Its called Miliputt hard setting epoxy filler, once it has dried out you can file or machine it, I’ve even heard of someone using it to make a repair on a lightly damaged external thread. Unfortunately I don’t believe that it will take an edge as when it gets very thin it can easily crumble into dust.
Nice job done on that dagger ! The scabbard deserved a better paint job and a nicer colour ... or to be wrapped in a piece of thin leather . ( Black , dark red , dark green , brown ... whatsoever )
I would have dismantled it and then welded a piece of metal to the end of the tang, then made a thread on the new tang. Once that was done, I would have remade the handle and refitted it so that the extended tang protrudes from the handle. Then I would manufacture a custom made turned pommel piece to be installed by matching the thread on the tang with a threaded hole in the pommel, I would probably make the pommel from solid brass and maybe give it the form of an acorn, especially if I had obtained a piece of figured oak to make the handle. The sheath or scabbard would have been greatly improved by soldering the two liners together and covering it with a thin leather such as kidskin or even snakeskin and then putting brass mounts at both ends with a small brassed chain to attach it to the users belt.

Why did you replace the blade? The final blade is clearly not the original one!
Because he fucked it up.

У старого, форма получше была.(это моё мнение)
Well done.

: Beau travail, par contre afin de protéger les tranchants il manque deux "martyrs" en cuir dans le fourreau.

What a load of rubbish ,, a very poor attempt,I suppose the further you get away from it,it looks better ...
In what way is this a"female dagger
it belonged to a woman
@@ds-restoration how do you know that ?
do you have proof?
Mantaaaaaaaaaaaap
You ruined it. 👎
Female dagger? What the hell do you mean by that?
such small daggers were carried by some women for self-defense
You know, you’re not required to watch anything that offends you to that level.
They were also called "prostitute dagger".
What the hell is a female dagger? 🤣
This is not a large dagger that some women secretly carried for self-defense
"Female Dagger"?????
