She actually sounds sweet, timid, shy, and self-doubting. It is very easy to care for the character. The OG voice actress gave me the impression Fuuka was literally stab me in the back and literally day in defense in a monotone voice: "Noo! It was an accident."
@@ajflinkthe one in the middle was... in the middle performance-wise as well, but because her voice fits spunkier, more energetic characters like Miu Iruma and Athena Cykes, rather than Fuuka
I know that vocally flat and emotionless characters are a thing in Japanese media; however, in the West, it comes across as fake, robotic, and unnatural like the person is on something. To make it worse, Fuuka's character is supposed to be shy and timid, not emotionally apathetic, which is not what she comes across as in the original. Also, I think the voice direction was incorrect in English as she does not sound like this in any future appearances after Portable, especially Reload where her voice actually fits what she is saying. I still cannot get over the OG English voice actress saying a monotone voice: "Don't worry! Fear is only temporary!" I still think it is hilarious.
Her voice sounds iconic! Her flat, nasally voice really grew on me and its a great contrast from Rise and Futaba who scream at every single occurrence. I do like their high energy voices, but Fuuka still has her charm.
As someone who played portable not too long ago, Fuuka's voice never bothered me. Of course, certain expressions at times made me think she lacked expression, but Fuuka's background and demeanour makes me think she's simply flat in that way. It is still a very subjective thing, though, as I don't think we learn enough of her past to actually know. Eh, I respect it
I don´t see a bad acting, not everybody is so emotional and expressive. I have a friend that talks in the same way than her, always in flat tone. Maybe I´m biased because of that.
Also, it could be an issue with voice direction. Even the voice actors on Sonic Adventure hated their lines because they weren't given proper context for their lines.
If you don't see bad acting you are tripping, new one and this one is day and night difference, also for reference stick to JP and you'll realize this is garbage acting
Then there's her navigation, which may be the worst bit of acting I heard in a while. Her voice is all over the place as she tells you their weaknesses then starts telling you the amount of enemies that are left. I'm the kind of person who feels that most anime/game dubs are actually really good, yet I still think she sounds atrocious. It would seem like Atlus agreed, since they changed her VA for subsequent spinoffs featuring the P3 cast.
@myposturesjustfine1086 That is a matter of opinion, not fact. being monotone isn't bad voice acting. Also, what is the point of comparing the english and japanese voices, most people who are playing the game in America are going be listening to the english dub, so what is the point of comparing the two? Unless, of course, you're one of those assholes who think that people who listen to anime with an english dub are stupid
@@mypostureisjustfine Mfw the japanese and English dub have to have the exact same tone and can't have differences to sell the game more/make things more interesting!!!

Fuuka’s Vanilla, FES and Portable voice may be flat and not quite expressive, but it still is iconic! You can never forget some of her famous voice lines. I do prefer Fuuka’s Reload va and her voice definitely matches her face, plus it sounds a lot more expressive and has its own personality.
Here's a thing about voice acting, not every line need to be delivered emotionally, especially not this scene that has no implications that the dialogue needed to be dramatically delivered, that's called being tone deaf theater kids
Dude all the voice acting in this game sucked. Even Mitsuru has no range. The direction was awful when dubbing this. But it was a JRPG being localized in the late 2000s what did you expect.

Not surprising as her voice actress is highly sought after in the anime world.

At least she tried. Also, Fuuka and Ken's English VAs were uncredited, leaving us to assume who voiced them.
