But I do find this so exciting.. One thing David you might do for us that are new and those of us that are old with short term memory trouble is possible show us a picture the spider at the beginning so that we could remember what she looked like.. I remember the tapping of the fangs only because it was different but so many spiders... I can not remember what they all looked like.. I want to thank you again for doing this.. So many new things I have learned and seen on this YT.. amazing things.. Carry on you two🕸

  • @Quisite
    @Quisite 2 года назад +3

    Why do the egg sacks get removed? Yo help the mom get back her strength? Or to help ensure a better chance of survival? Or something completely different?

    • @grubmother4925
      @grubmother4925 2 года назад +3

      a few reasons- it's much easier to remove an intact egg sac than tonnes of tiny little slings, sometimes a stressed female will eat her young in the sac, and removing the sac means the female can stop guarding it to come out and eat which helps get her back in good condition quicker (:

    • @martink9481
      @martink9481 2 года назад +3

      There are several reasons but its mostly all about increasing the chance to get more slings to survive. It prevents the risk that mommy eats the sack because she gets too exhausted while protecting it until they hatch or because she doesn´t feel secure enough. It could also be too dry so that the eggs will pass away. Removing the eggs from the sack prevents ´em from drying out because in the nursery pot, they have a constant humidity and the incubator provides the constant temperature.
      And I think its kind of a hustle to catch 77 tiny slings, that are roaming the enclosure shortly after they got out of the sack.
