    Great tips on the pedals. I always had my cables to tight. The tip on eliminating wear on the plastic part on the pedals was priceless

    Very good explanation, It is a pity for that chain, how they make it shorter ! I don't know what I do if I try to make a tread lock or try to swap the change to the longer one. but as you said you can't really tighten, there is not enough tread..

    Nice one my Bru! I don't fish a peddle kayak. Was wanting to know if you have launched in surf condition, and how does it handle in those type of condition?

    Thanks for the tips. Where do you order spare parts for the flap system?

    Hi Mad Saffer. I am from Auckland too and need some help. I have a pedal flap drive almost identical to yours . My front flap rod/shaft had bent when I accidently hit the bottom of the shallows. The bend is noticeable. I saw a few videos of the Migrage drive rod fixes where guys unscrew the rod off and bend it back with a vice or by hand. I havent tried this fix yet as I am new to pedal flap drives, wanted to see if you had knowledge of a fix rather than a complete replacement of the part. Thanks

    How do you adjust the range of motion of the flaps? Mine don't go up all the way?

    Hey Mad Saffer,
    Thank you so much for your informative videos on the Nova Kayak and improvements on the pedal system. I am looking into purchasing my first kayak and are replacement parts (fins, chains etc.) easily accessible from an Auckland/NZ retailer or did you have ship them in from overseas? Cheers

    • @MadSaffer
      @MadSaffer  3 года назад +1

      Hey bud, you are most welcome. Glad you enjoying the vids. I haven't found any local suppliers for the parts but ordering them from overseas is pretty straight forward and they get here pretty fast. If you apply some of the tweaks I spoke about from the day you get the pedal you won't have to replace them for a while. Just remember to not overtighten the cables and don't apply pressure to the fin rods when storing them and they will last a good while. If you do run into any problems give me a shout, I have a few spares available and can help you out if you need.

    Have you had the chance to fit a Hobie Drive in its place yet just to see if it fit?

      Hey Justin. Not yet bro but looking for an opportunity to see if it fits. If I find one I'll def do a vid to cover the outcome. Cheers for the messages!

      @@MadSaffer Hey man, do you recall how much the Broker Agent charge was to clear your kayak through (Port Customs Clearance) for your NOVA?
      I’m trying to figure all this stuff out, because I am in the middle of trying to purchase the same kayak from China.

    • @MadSaffer
      @MadSaffer  2 года назад

      @Justin Hey bud, the broker agent fee was around $300 NZD, not bad for the service. The majority of the cost was getting them through customs and transporting them to my house. You have to use an approved freight to transport them and they don't get inspected at customs. They have to be transported to a logistics facility to be inspected....cost for as well.

    Epic vid buddy I only found this kayak yesterday and I'm looking to purchase it in the UK I will say that the hobie passport I'd 500 gbp more or 1000 dollars more. Would you pay the extra or still go for the nova?

    • @MadSaffer
      @MadSaffer  3 года назад +1

      Hey Mike. If I could afford it I'd definitely go for the Outback but, I've had my NOVA for 2 years and she's been good to me. Only hassles I've had is with the pedal but experience has taught me how to take better care of it and now I have hardly any issues with the pedal.

    Hey Mad Saffer, can you share where you bought the replacement parts (cables/chains) etc. online? Been searching for awhile to no avail. Thanks

    • @MadSaffer
      @MadSaffer  3 года назад

      Hi Winson. I got my spares direct from the manufacturer in China. If you get in touch with them, they'll refer you to the nearest dealer in your area. Ask for Alice and Ningbo Viking Mould and Plastics here vickingkayaks.en.alibaba.com/. She's very helpful.
