Hello, My name is Ursula Rodrique and I am John Rodrique's baby sister. John is the second older of seven children. My brother John died in Timmins, ON two days after his 34th birthday on June 10th 1999, he drowned accidently in the Mattagami River. The Mattagami was one of his favorite spots to brings his guitar and sing. We our family have been going to Mattagami River park since his death to celebrate his life on his birthday which was on June 10th also on the anniversary of his death on June 12th. This song Pretty Girl was just one of many that he wrote. I thank you all for your awesome words and how he too brought you joy and fond memories like he did with me and my family he was one amazing human being my brother...I too listen to my brother's song on here just to hear his voice again. I just wish we could get my late brother's songs out there the ones that he wrote that no one has ever heard. We hope one day to have a CD with all of his songs that he wrote and sung by him soon but its a process. Thank you, Chi-Meegwetch.
I remember when he sang and played guitar in my grandmother's basement along with my uncle and his band. He was an awesome singer. My baby girl was born on June 12th and she loves to sing. Just thought I'd share that.
John was a good friend of mine, We were going to write a song about our road trip to Northbay and Garden Village in march-1995, this guy had talent, We will miss you John. RIP my friend.
i thought i saw that the video was in 1990? He passed in 1996? I think, I rememeber when he sang this song to me and my beloved and he gave me a card about pride, it during a time when we were going though a tough time and he gave us good encouragement.

Believe it or not Jules was jus improvising the guitar parts this was in one take..U should of heard john sing Blue Rodeo tunes...had that Jim Cuddy thing....

Imagine my surprise, finding my cousin here, son of my father's brother, David. (I think that's how the genetics of it works.) I met Johnny a few times throughout the 80s and 90s, and was familiar with his ability at songcraft. Shame that his talent was snuffed out how it was.
