Thanks for the review. I have tried their Catlabs 80 in 4x5, and it's not bad. There are not a lot of film manufacturers. My suspicion is that this is Orwo or Foma original.
I HAVE PRETTY MUCH FIGURED OUT WHAT THE CATLABS X 320 FILM REALLY IS. IT'S A REBRANDED SVEMA 200 FILM. SAME FILM BASE, RECOMMENDED TO BE SHOT AT 200 DAYLIGHT, THE DEVELOPER TURNS YELLOW AFTER POURING IT OUT. I SHOT BOTH FILM SIDE BY SIDE AND I GOT THE SAME EXACT RESULTS!
I got really great results developing using stand development with HC110. My negs had great tonal range and fine grain. I don't take people photos so that I did not detect the lighter skin aspect. I shot it at 320 but I also believe that 200 is the best setting for this when shooting in daylight.
Def more grain than Fomapan 100 but also more contrast. Fomapan is very low contrast in the developers I have outline here and very fine grained. Running a follow up video on it in HC110 Dilution G…. Stay tuned!
Gorgeous black and white. I don't like the extreme aspect ratio, it doesn't add anything and it really detracts. Aside from that, this film is gorgeous.
Glad you like the film but of course I disagree completely with the aspect ratio comment- I love extreme aspect ratios but this is just personal style… happy shooting!
@@FIGITALREVOLUTION Yes, I understand the differences of preferences. (I love 2:3, 1:1, and 3:1). By the way, your black and white technique is superb. I'm 69 and only now getting into black and white film. I'm settling on Rollei RPX films for now. 👍🌿
i'm not a fan of how cagey they are on who applies the emulsion to the film base. At least they aren't fpp taking fomapan swapping a label and charging 2x retail for it.

Enjoyed it, thanks for putting it together and sharing. What camera for that aspect ratio?
It was a custom panoramic camera that has a 4:1 aspect ratio.
@@FIGITALREVOLUTION Cool, I think I saw in one of your other videos I watched after this one.
I haven't tried it yet but it reminds me a lot of Rollei Retro 400s. Maybe its the same or very similar stock

Will have to try my HC110 with a dash of Rodinal on my next roll.
Does the grain seem similar to fomopan? seems a bit more on the grainier side of films. No?

It was tough to put in the plastic reels. The results were not bad, but I did ruin a roll trying to get it on.
Practice practice practice- I find both metal and plastic have their own “difficulties” from time to time--

RPX 400 is amazing film- happy shooting!

Yeah, I find their lack of transparency disturbing
oldest trick in the book to use red spectrum sensitive silver halogens to get nominal ISO performance - no thank you
