One of the reasons that PvZ is so damn good is the music. The music fits so well with the theme of every "region" and also, the sound effects are super well-made. A lot of factors were combined to make PvZ the greatest game ever.
I think it could have been a good game with further development. The graphics and concepts were nice but the execution was meh. Don't know if you are still working on it though.
If you add pvp with friends like in the Xbox 360 version of pvz, I'll play it no matter how bad the game is otherwise, I've been looking for a pvz clone or mid so I can play against my brother.
i like how all the games shown in this video try to introduce some original mechanic. The minecraft one has a bunch of them, the pixel one has the wheel, the toy one has clicking, the troll one has an intresting tower design (and the sheild enemy would be pretty cool if it was stronger), and the 3d one has a pretty intresting siege mechanic. honestly the only reason i played the 3d one longer than an hour is cause of the sieges.
To be fair, it's difficult to make a Tower Defense game interesting, since the genre doesn't give you as much creative freedom than something like a Platformer might have. Someone might rather just play the original PvZ than one of these other games, so they _need_ to have a unique gimmick to keep it interesting. Although, the Minecraft one does it best, since it integrates them properly with some real substance and depth, instead of just kinda shoehorning them in, some more than others...
The first game: 'Minecraft Vs Zombies 2' looks kinda awesome, it's like some kind of crossover game, and they say infinity war is the biggest crossover ever made
The Minecraft one definitely has Touhou influence. The song played is “The Shining Needle Castle Sinking In The Air” from Touhou 15, and the screen flipping is a reference to Seija’s special, which is that she flips the screen during some of her attacks. Edit: it’s Touhou 14, not 15. Oops
The Minecraft Vs. Zombies 2 game honestly just looks like someone having fun coding, not thinking about how good the story or the graphics are, which is something I can applaud
i remember playing these weird flash games as a kid where they would use the exact plants from the pvz game, recolor them and have the enemies be like aliens or something, they were weirdly fun.

I like the fact you don't have to collect sun from Sunflowers and you can speed-forward the game and do other stuff on the top left of the screen. I still find the game fun although it's very hard, I found it on a website that had a translation for it when I was younger (it was on a Vietnamese site and the site was for Vietnamese kids like me. I thought it originated from there but I guess not). Apparently the story is that "Aliens have started to invade your home planet! Fortunately, your father, who is a scientist ( or something I forgot) , invented these plants for you to defend your home while he is doing something else ( I also forgot) ." I don't know if the plot is the same or not. The harder aliens have so much health and they appear very early in the first few levels.
Lucky Clover I played it too and yeah it seems your story is different, for me all it said was that normal weapons couldn’t harm them so the humans resorted to these special plants that could harm them.

Interesting enough, I was considering making a PvZ adventures inspired game called Pixel's Battle Island. It wouldnt be exactly like pvz adventures with some of its systems, but the stuff that are similar is the level styles, and also it would have different worlds with new mechanics, with similar and new enemies.
i'm considering to do game like PvZ where both you and the enemy controls either the "Plants" and the "Zombies" you build the "Plants" to protect your base while using the "Zombies" to attack enemy's base, and wins who destroys the other base first. and also some other mechanics that i'm too lazy to put in this comment
Tbh, I think the shield enemy in Defending Camelot and Trolls vs. Vikings was a neat idea to use in a PVZ-esque tower defense game, but imo, it would’ve been better executed had it gotten more health and only could’ve shielded up once they reached halfway through the field so things like 9:55 couldn’t happen.

my science class in middle school I had to do something for legends of learning and one of the things was literally a plants vs. Zombies clone about weather, and the huge way from zombies was literally a huge tornado is approaching your house, almost nobody knew how to play, except me

0:38 this game seems to have a lot of references, they "reference" the Touhou project series a lot, they use a fair bit of the music from touhou but I think it is sort of remastered, as well the screen flipinging thing is used by one of it's bosses.
I remember in school they give us this kinda education game to play, where there are mini games to play One of them is a PvZ clone, where angry dogs are coming at you and you put down living food to stop them, but you can only put down one if you answer a question correctly, way more stressful and not recommended
The sounds in pvz mincraft reskin are from a game called c&c red alert 2, the sound that it makes when it control the tower is from a unit called Yuri that mind controls the enemy units, and the sound of the electricity is from the tesla coil defense that can be built
I remember this PvZ clone called Plants vs Pests, and instead of zombies, you had to fight rats and other critters. I only played it once back in 2012, and never saw it again. I’d love to know if someone has more info about the game.

That first game has quite a few songs and sound effects from bookworm adventures, like both the nighttime and boss theme being from world 3s enemy and boss themes respectively. 2:17 is the world 3 map theme as well.

Interesting enough, I was considering making a PvZ adventures inspired game called Pixel's Battle Island. It wouldnt be exactly like pvz adventures with some of its systems, but the stuff that are similar is the level styles, and also it would have different worlds with new mechanics, with similar and new enemies.

Tbh, I think the shield enemy in Defending Camelot and Trolls vs. Vikings was a neat idea to use in a PVZ-esque tower defense game, but imo, it would’ve been better executed had it gotten more health and only could’ve shielded up once they reached halfway through the field so things like 9:55 couldn’t happen.

Thank you for making me remember toys vs nightmares it's that memory that you forget years ago and then comes back to make you feel nostalgic.
0:38 this game seems to have a lot of references, they "reference" the Touhou project series a lot, they use a fair bit of the music from touhou but I think it is sort of remastered, as well the screen flipinging thing is used by one of it's bosses.

The sounds in pvz mincraft reskin are from a game called c&c red alert 2, the sound that it makes when it control the tower is from a unit called Yuri that mind controls the enemy units, and the sound of the electricity is from the tesla coil defense that can be built
I remember this PvZ clone called Plants vs Pests, and instead of zombies, you had to fight rats and other critters.
I only played it once back in 2012, and never saw it again. I’d love to know if someone has more info about the game.

Funny story about that Trolls Vs. Vikings game. My dad knew some of the guys that made the game (or at least knew someone who knew them, not quite sure), so he told me to give the game a shot back when it came out. Ok, maybe it wasn’t a funny story but a little interesting at least I hope
