    Interesting experiment! What’s next? A circular tank to measure at what speed they can’t hang on? I’m betting you can’t find a pump big enough! Always fun to watch these critters. Discovered 4 teeny tiny ones on some small rocks today. Tank has been below 70 for a month… and still breeding!

    Is it this species called "chinese pleco" ? Nice footage as usual. Young fishes are more interested in discovering the world, adults become more lazy, maintaining solid life schemes. Like most plecos.

    • @TheDave333
      @TheDave333  6 месяцев назад +1

      These specific fish (Sewellia lineolata) come from Vietnam, but they have been referred to as an Asian form of the pleco (Chinese Pleco). Hillstream loach is a generic term that refers to many different hillstream loach species.
      Both the pleco and the loach have several things in common.

    • @moonpleco5083
      @moonpleco5083 6 месяцев назад

      @@TheDave333 Thank you for explanation. Funny fact is, that "chinese pleco" isn't even catfish but loach! I have have same fish in mind, l haven't knew it's loach 😄.
      I wonder how much plecos and loaches have in common ? Weber's aparat for hearing sounds, suction to surfaces, kind of food, and .... ? Topic for next video!

    • @TheDave333
      @TheDave333  6 месяцев назад +1

      The Weberian apparatus is well-developed in both Plecos and Loaches. And, they both tend to be bottom-dwelling species, with a great sense of hearing, and little to no swim bladder. They also both have barbels. . . Comparing and contrasting these two types of fish would make for an interesting video for fish nerds like us, but for most people it might be a bit boring and too technical. I'll have to think about that some more. 🤔 🤔 🤔

    • @moonpleco5083
      @moonpleco5083 6 месяцев назад

      @@TheDave333actually it can be interesting for many aquarists, some people simply like to watch interesting nature videos. Example, "oh do you know that fish can hear sounds? How? Weberian apparatus, this is how it works"! That way we know that fish not only feel vibrations but also hear !
      Or some kids may develop curiosity in biology? When I was a kid , I and many others kids (majority of them don't like biological stuff) , we watched french cartoon about how organism works. I have no idea how it could be titled in USA but I'm pretty sure you know it - it was worldwide hit. Thanks to this series many people begin their interests and hobby.

    Could you plz make a video on holplo catfish or spotted rapheal there both have interesting behaviour especially tho hoplo i think both financialy and intertament it would be a good video and i have a 33 gallon do you think my 3 hoplos would be fine if i take good care off them?. And there both relatively cheap fish

    • @TheDave333
      @TheDave333  6 месяцев назад +1

      I don't have any plans to work with either of these species at the moment, but a bubble-nesting catfish sounds like fun!
      Hoplos do get fairly large and are social fish, so it's best to have several of them together. I'm not sure that the 33 gal. tank will be big enough when they reach full size.

      @@TheDave333 I agree. I have also seen the opposite. I feed my guppies a lot and carefully monitor the water quality. The guppies are always so full they leave the babies alone even when they are out in the open. Lots of water changes but mom and babies and other guppies can live together in my tank. Not sure this would work for everyone.
