All one should do for safety in the tub is to add a flexible plastic mat to prevent slipping. To prevent splash over from the shower head raise the curtain rod.
This, to me is not a tiny home. It's AWESOME!! Who can say that they live in a "antique Train", not to mention the History of it. I Love the interior and the whole set up❣️❣️
Really like these good alternative to shipping containers there’s not much that can move a train sometimes tornadoes flip them off tracks but I don’t think I e ever heard of one being picked up and moved very far lol they would definitely endure some weather
Raise the shower bar above the shower head and you've fixed two problems with one task! No splashing over the shower curtain and no stepping on the shower curtain.
This is a masterpiece of tiny home. Wasn`t sure what to expect, but jeez that is one epic transformation from old to new. I love how they kept the spirit of the traind desoite the transformation. Thank you for sharing this one
It is absolutely beautiful but I would put the bedroom at the end bathroom before it you can still have a Murphy bed but have room on each side of the bed for getting in and out . Plus if someone wants to sleep while the other person is up you have that option
Excellent and beautiful episode. Your passion and expertise shows and is appreciated. This space is very similar to that of semi trailers, which are in my opinion more convenient, functional and cheaper. I think semi trailers make the ideal tiny houses. Used are way cheaper than new, and having a truck to tow them is optional (one can hire the trailer trucks only when needed). Besides the space advantage compared to regular custom tiny houses, is the weight that semi trailers can carry, so one can go all the way with heavy materials (even bulletproof ones, such as ceramic, stone, steel, heavy glasses, etc.). As well as "ridiculous" large tanks for water and other stuff. Not to deny the charm and merit of custom made tiny houses, just think semi trailers are a no brainer and can even be connected between them "easily" (if one wanted to connect 2 or more, there are ways, yet keeping them movable). Cheers
Thank you kindly! Also thank you for sharing your thoughts on semi trailer conversions. You make great point! Hope we have an opportunity to film one of those in the future 🤞
0:04 I paused to type that I know I am fixing to get emotional during this interview. Alexis and Christian you both are incredible people. 🤝🏾🩵🔥😅🥹☝🏾 So much love from ON Canada 🍁☃️❄️🦌😅😍💖🥂
I think they should somewhat put something up to give that bedroom area a more cozy and private spot. Maybe close off that end of the home to the other areas. Would be nice too. But that is my idea……Overall it is a cool place ……..👍
WOW , I am in love with this tiny how epic is this . love the kitchen and living space how nice . I could live here , I would change the shower in the bathroom though , I do prefer showers and a sink, Storage at the back yes indeed I agree with ya there . a caboose would be very cool oh ya , Hey thanks for showing this it was very interesting .
1:01 not sure if this was intentional but the image used is not historical, it’s generative AI. Lovely place one thing though with a tub you want the shower curtain inside the tub to help keep the water in the tub not on the floor and the people who own the band b ought to have a shower mat to prevent slippage in the tub love your presentations
can you imagine the conversation at the town's planning office when you want to build an antique railroad car Airbnb. Their first question: "you wanna do what now?" Their second question: "Are you crazy?" Their third question: "do you know how much that will cost?" And when it's time for you to ask dumb unanswerable questions ask them "so how much for the railroad car Airbnb building permit? and does that include the crane work?" LMAO, sarcastic humor intended....
Beacuse the car was so wide I would have done a horse shoe kitchen which would have gotten the fridge out of the corner and made more room in the living area. I also would have put a wall between the living and bedroom just to difine the space and give a bit more privatsy. I liked the tub and shower seperation, but that back end area could have been a washer dryer. It's a great idea to use a train car and if there owners had ever lived in a tiny house on wheels, I'm sure they would have gotten a lot more out of having that much space.
Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like overhead lights, Alexis! And hey, Christian, why wouldn't you raise the shower curtain, since the water is splasing all over the place because the curtain is too low for the shower head? It may be that in that spot it can't be raised, but that's what I'd do if it were possible. A really nice size space, and love that kitchen!
*before you think seriously about a tiny home, tape off some areas of your home or apartment, now wherever you live, Tape off cupboards and closets to approximate the square footage of a tiny home. Tape off of area of your kitchen obviously some things you can't divide like your refrigerator and so forth. Only use the kitchen gadgets that fit in a smaller cabinet only use 1/5 or less of Your clothes closet. And obviously you can't do anything about the halls but you can get an idea of what it would be like to live in 300 or 700 whatever square feet. You could see all the things you wouldn't have, all the things you couldn't stock up with like food. UNLESS your tiny home is on your parents land or something. Then it's kind of like living in a little fort or playhouse. Then you can store stuff in your parents garage etc. But there's a lot of tiny home regret."hey honey where are the postage stamps?" "Umm, we didn't have room for those!"*
That’s a great idea! We did something similar before we built our tiny home. One thing that’s tough to get a sense of is the vertical space, especially with a smaller tiny house on wheels 😄
Inside it looks pretty cool, but I don’t like the idea that the bedroom is just open. It doesn’t have any privacy no doors no walls other than that it’s really nice.
10:48 I felt so sad when I saw how high that counter was. Just seeing how high it was for a tall man, It would be virtually useless for me, a diminutive woman. If this were mine, I would have enlarged the windows and lowered them and the eating surface to table height. No more struggling for my friends and me to sit and eat or just enjoy the view. Plus it would have brought in more light which is always a good thing.
As tall people, we love it. But can see if we weren’t that it would be challenging. The best thing to do with a tiny house build is to customize just for you 😊

I do think about a train car conversion. This one is a beauty.
I don't exactly know what I was expecting when you walked inside, but that was not it, in the very best way. It is very nice!
We were blown away too! Better than what we expected even after seeing pics 😄😍
I agree with Christian; it is cool! I fantasized about living in a train since I read the Boxcar Children. Great video!
I loved that book. I remember seeing a train carriage house on _Living Big_ that reminded of it, too, as well as _Harold and Maude._
Thank you! 😁 I also enjoyed those books-Alexis here 😊
Got me through my childhood without doing my mother in
I LOVED the Boxcar Children series and I believe it is one reason I really want a tiny home!
I think this is so charming, such a functional living space
Amazing home! I would love to live in it.
We second that!
Gorgeous conversion -- superb execution on industrial rustic theme and love the murphy bed and so much more.
So so dreamy! It must have been so fun to put this together 😊✨
This is tastefully done. I wish I can live in one too.
This is next level up-cycling 🚃 What a neat design! It's so bright and cozy inside. It looks like a beautiful place to stay!
For real! 😁 We had a lovely & very comfy stay ☺️💕
All one should do for safety in the tub is to add a flexible plastic mat to prevent slipping. To prevent splash over from the shower head raise the curtain rod.
Good points 👍👍🙂
Oh my that’s gorgeous, I’ve been going, for over 12 years, to Lancaster PA and stay at the Red Caboose inn. I want one! 😊
Thanks for the tour!!
Pretty. Love the military green.
You’re most welcome! 😊✨
Caboose -- Cabeese! Love it!
😜
Love it! Just the size I want,I would put up some walls or partitions to I separate rooms
Right on! A box car like this is really a blanket canvas for layout. Definitely would be fun to play with different options 😊
This, to me is not a tiny home. It's AWESOME!! Who can say that they live in a "antique Train", not to mention the History of it. I Love the interior and the whole set up❣️❣️
🙌 It truly is a one-of-a-kind space 💖
This was very nicely done.
🙌✨

OMG! I just started the video and I just have to comment on the beautiful surroundings this tiny house is placed on. I'm in love 😍.
Really a dreamy place 💓
@TinyHouseExpedition I'm in Nashville. What county approved this? Looking to have a tiny house myself.
My grandfather worked for the Wabash Cannonball out of Decatur, IL. Great info!!🎉🎉
I'd do this in A HEARTBEAT ❤
Raise the shower bar above the shower head and you've fixed two problems with one task! No splashing over the shower curtain and no stepping on the shower curtain.
Wonderful conversion but my Husband had to have a sepperate dresser. Thanks for sharing.
Uniquely interesting space. I really love the entire design.❤❤
This is incredible! So much inspiration from across the pond
Glad you think so! 🥰

@@TinyHouseExpedition Anytime, Happy Thanksgiving to you guys and everyone!
Beautiful space! The transportation and land tricky parts, but it seems like it could be really worth it too! Thanks for doing this one!
You are so welcome! Glad you enjoyed it! ❤️
This train car home is stunning. Great layout. Love the light fixtures.
I love it and could absolutely happily live there full time no problem! 😅
We 💯 agree! 😁
Until tornadoes and floods sweep it away
@ fortunately that didn’t happen 😅
I actually was looking for one. Thanks for asking. ❤
So happy to share! 💕✨

Great idea! 👌
I've always dreamed of living in a train. I love trains. So absolutely if the opportunity dropped in my lap - I'd be all over it.
And if you do, let us know! 😁💕
Thank you for sharing your insights as you took us on the tour !
You’re so welcome! 💕 We had a great time making this ☺️

Simply gorgeous

I LOVE this one. Open like that reminds me of city lofts
So cool, love it.

This is beautifully done. I'm actually thinking doing this.
Very cool! 😊
This is really nice setup. We'll done. ❤❤

Love Love Love it you guys. Thanks for showing. I also hate overhead lighting.
So happy to hear it and we 💯 agree! Overheads are the worst 😂
Beard looks great like that.
Thank ya kindly 🙂
Thanks Guys 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🎆🎄⛄🍭🎁
Most welcome! 😊🎄✨💕
Beautiful 😊
Love it Don't like that the bedroom's not separated though.
We hear that! You could put the bedroom where the bathroom is to create a separate room 😊
This is amazing!
I would use solar and composting toilet. Totally off gride! Where is this located?
Like how you think! This is near Maryville, TN 😊
So Nice. 👍😍

Nice and interesting!
I could live there!
Happy Thanksgiving 🦃❤ .
JO JO IN VT 💞
Happy Thanksgiving to you too! 🧡✨
Nice. Wonder if it could be well insulated for cold weather.
I would change the colour outside, it reminds very much at war, and I would love to have more windows. How did You isolate it?

Wow! I want one! But I can't have it because I don't have land and I'm disabled so that's out😮❤🎉
💕💕
No washer dryer, that’s a must for me!
There’s room for them, for sure 😄
Its nice but the windows dont open and no window for the bed area. What's the R value?

Right?! Overheads are the worst. 😂 Great point on raising the rod if possible and if the curtain is still too long, chop it off 😅
I would love it. That one looks perfect for me. I need one
Arnb? Alrighty. How much does it cost?

Way too expensive
It can be! Some folks have scored great deals but the transport costs can really be spendy 🤑
Area: 🚫 Room! 🙄
I love you guys but Come on with the fake laughing. Unless that’s what regular people like. Idk. 🤷🏽♀️
We don’t fake laugh, but we do laugh a lot and occasionally a nervous laugh happens 🙃
