- The oxygen dissociation curve shows how haemoglobin binds to oxygen (that's it really!). Its sigmoid shape shows haemoglobin's positive cooperativity behaviour. We can then look at the curve when the haemoglobin is in different situations (Bohr effect) or even as a different type of haemoglobin (fetal vs. adult), which show us if the haemoglobin is ready to bind to oxygen or to lose it.

i just wanted to say that there is correction needed when you say that c is where haemoglobin is fully saturated. this rarely happens as blood is fast flowing and most haem group are already occupied therefore its very difficult for oxygen to bind to the last haem group

hello miss, not related to video but what pens do you use?
Why is the line for the ODC from b to c so steep? Isn’t it harder for the 4th oxygen molecule to bond to Hb after the 3rd. So shouldn’t it be flatter?
i think b represents the whole upwards bit of the curve not just that exact point
and all that Biology!

Correction the hb in the tissue is called deoxy hb. Not oxy
