    I grew up listening to Tammy and Loretta. They both pull at those tears. You can feel the hurt in her voice. Love her music.

    Ok.. my hubby just told me today .. 3/17/24.. that Tammy wasn't in the top ten of female country singers of all times. .. I'm in shock.. he was in shock Tammy's voice is so perfect country... She's the Queen of country.. I have no idea what he was seeing on whatever website.. It's Tammy.. don't mess with Greatness.

    I saw her as a little girl at the New York State Fair in the early 1970’s. My parents loved her! I love her song D I V O R C E she could really sing!

    The Ladies of Country Music in the 60's wrote songs that were ahead of their time. Tammy lived a hard life & never got the recognition she deserved. God Bless her now that she's in Heaven...

      The actual first lady of country music is Mabel Carter back in the 1930's. I watched a 16 hour documentary about the history of country music. They started the journey back to 1900. Mabel Carter was the FIRST woman that was allowed to sing, play and record country music.

No disrespect of any kind was intended for anyone, not even Ms Wynette (who I greatly admire), but I am 61 and have never heard that name before and so I would have no way to compare her and Ms Lorretta's accomplishments. Let's be honest here, Loretta broke a whole lot of glass ceilings and kicked in lots of previously closed doors. Of course she likely couldn't have done so had it not been for the help of, and promotion by, the late great Patsy Cline

      @TonyM I agree with you on all points about Loretta Lynn. She sang about taboo things that were never talked about before. She was definitely a trail blazer and thank goodness for Patsy being her mentor. RIP to both of those wonderful ladies.

    Jay and The Techniques "Apple, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie" is an excellent song, one of my favorites from childhood. I think it's timeframe is late 60's to early 70's.

    I got to see Tammy at the Cobleskill Sunshine Fair. It cost the Fair entry + $5 to sit in the grandstands. If you stood in front of the stage it didn't cost at $5.

    Thank you guys. Tammy was one of the best, along with her one time husband, George Jones, another great singer. So many great songs both of them had individually. Some more beautiful Country music is " Singing My Song " by Tammy, " A Picture of Me Without You" by George Jones, " The Streets of Baltimore " by Bobby Bare, " Old Dogs, Children, and Watermelon Wine " by Tom T. Hall, and " The Story of My Life " by Marty Robbins. My ole man loved his Country music, and i remember them well.
