My mate moved there a few years ago, I woke up at her place on Hair St and just fell in love with the landscape. Raised in Auckland, moved to Christchurch and now I'm like, I could see myself living there. I'm sure it's getting better and it's surrounded by the most amazing Bush.
I live there! Wow things have changed, lots more houses, the new mayor, Campbell lol. A new road, no mall now, Countdown moved, a better car park, still Mcds. Youth inspire is great, thankyou Marcia, your team helped my daughter.🎉
I lived in Wainui from the 50's to the 60's when it was getting house built by Anker construction our was the third house built in Wright Street number 6 it was a great place then only been over there about 4 times since and live in Naenae now.
Grew up in Wainui went to Parkway Intermeadiate and Wainui High. Played age grade league and reserves and union for both clubs. Still close with the brothers there they're life long friends I stay in Sydney now missing home!
I lived here from 2005-11 and ended up really liking it, it's bad reputation is a bit of a myth from what I experienced. There's the odd scumbags here and there but no more than anywhere else, most people are good down to earth working people
Wainuiomata has a reputation for dullness, crime and poverty? No more than any other community in NZ. Wainuiomata has always been a great place to raise families.
I wont have a bad word said about this town when it has produced some great New Zealand sportsman such the Lomax Brothers, Piri Weepu, Neemia Tialata, and Tana Umaga !!
I lived at the Wainui waterworks when I was young and it was my paradise and then we moved back to Wainui after we were married and raised our son there. Yes there are ratbags but just as there are anywhere BUT there is an awesome community there which is far more important.
Hello! I'm making a short video (not for profit) for a current Wainuiomata rugby player and was hoping I could use some of your aerial footage of Wainui for the short intro part (using about 5-10seconds). I can attribute your youtube channel in the description.

I grew up in Wainui and lived in a place called Willow Grove between 1961 - 1969 so it's amazing to see the place all these years later
You may have known my oldman John Crawford...
