I use to love to help my mom hang clothes on the clothes line! And then run under and around the clothes as they blew in the hot wind! They smelled so good, and I never get to smell that smell anymore! 😔

I struggled with staying happy and positive this year. I have cancer and was given 3 months to live. Through much prayer and friendship, I have been able to live 4 years. Things were going smoothly here until someone said something to me that just devastated me. I have been working on getting my spirit back up for weeks. If we can learn one thing from this, it would be keep your mean and hateful thoughts to yourself. God called us to love and support each other. I am feeling somewhat better and have promised myself to remain strong and loving ❤️ and pray for those who have no idea that words can be weapons. Words can be better used to uplift and encourage each other. I love you and really enjoy your videos. Let's all start this new year with love, compassion, and support. Oh, JIll, how wonderful that you have been given the gift of time from your original diagnosis. I cannot imagine anyone who knows you and your health situation would say something mean and hateful. Dear Jill; I understand your pain. Words are harmful and stay in our memories no matter how we try to not allow them to hurt us. Usually, when I get attacked with hateful words, I quote Christ's words when he was on the cross and he looked out and said "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." This verse once you apply it to your life, you too will realize they don't understand anything and their hearts are somewhat dark. It has nothing to do with you but their words come from their hearts that have let hate and darkness have a stronghold in their hearts and mind. We truly do need to pray for these people. I'm praying for your healing and your pain from these hateful words to fade. You, my dear are a soldier battling for your life and only you and others who have gone through this can understand. Susan, when you said you were moving to a town up north in 2023, I pictured you in a Cottage decorated with all your fine collections with a garden and a cute bike you rode around town to the local farmers market on. I envisioned you selling your photographs or working in a cute shop a day or 2 per week, for a hobby & to connect with others. I pictured Desi on his own chair in front of a fireplace . You know in 1985 I dreamed about a house down to fine details. 7 years ago I moved into that house. It was the first of 6 houses I flew in to look at. I manifested it at age 25, I moved in at 55. Never give up & always hold on to your dream.❤

I think 2021 was horrible...I watched my mom suffering with cancer and she passed away 2 days before her 80th birthday. It's only up from there...I guess. I miss her terribly, she was the person in my life that I knew the longest. So 2022 is one of the harder years...Moving along...all that we go thru is part of our "book" I never knew how strong I was until I lost my husband 10 years ago, but losing mom was what make me realize that life is short...Do Everything and Anything you dream about...that is my hope for 2023!
I lost my dad in 2019. He lived with me for 10 years. I never realized how much I’d miss him. I lost my mom in 1994 and my oldest daughter in 1999. Loss of loved ones is the worst !
I feel for you. I lost my only sister to cancer, my dad to heart and kidney disease as well as total blindness, my mom to Alzheimer's and now the love of my life of 23 years is suffering with lung, lymph nodes and brain cancer. Almost lost my son who suffers from depression as well. So 2022 and 2023 are bad years for me and it's only January. God help us all!

2022 was a year of great change. I left my boyfriend of 12 years. I had to change my diet for health reasons. I did both, it was so horribly hard. I am not yet where I want to be. My grandchild has her own life now. My daughter is moving far away. But where will I go? Far enough to find me!
2022 was the second worst year of my entire life. I had a bad fall around the end of March. I broke my nose and cut a deep gash underneath my right eye. At the hospital, I was stitched up by a very caring young surgeon. But my skin tends to scar at the least little scratch. I am now horribly disfigured and will be for the rest of my life. I also suffer from Alopecia and I am nearly completely bald on the top of my head. I've decided to have all my hair cut off and wear scarves and bonnets to cover my head. I look so forward to your videos every week. Desi is so gentle and sweet with his little wooden bird. I'm glad you had a good Christmas and New Year. If you move, I'll go with you.

I used to LOVE hanging my laundry out on the line when I was a younger woman. They smelled so good. There's nothing like getting into a bed with crisp, fresh and clean sheets on it. I agree with you, I want to be mellow this year too. I am so tired of drama from my adult children. I want to have a home of calmness and peace as I live alone as a fairly new widow. There's a reason why women can only give birth to a certain age. It's not our job to parent in our 50s and 60s. This is our time. My body isn't as strong anymore, my brain isn't as sharp as it once was. It's okay to just enjoy the grandkids. I guess I am speaking from my own experience this past year when an adult daughter came back home for a year. I must say never again will I let one of my 3 adult children come home to live with me again. This generation can be brutal and very disrespectful. They think everything is for free. It is beyond anything that I would have even dared to go with my own parents. Anyone identify? Anyways, give Desi a kiss on the head for me. He is such a handsome little fellow.

I am happily old school, and my daughter is not......and her life is not what I wanted for her but it is the life she chooses. Her husband and girls create a lot of drama and she lives with it, I cannot so only visit for 5 days max, 2 for travel and 3 actual at her home. She called me a "Karen" the other day, laughingly, but still, and the 17yr old couldn't get over my reporting to management blatant obscenities at their store. I said there used to be obscenity laws, and what I reported was obscene, rude and disrespectful. It is no longer "my" world, I am now 3-4 generations removed from it, and I choose not to participate in it much at all.
Unfortunately a lot of the young adults nowadays feel way too entitled. And they are very disrespectful and inconsiderate. It’s really sad with what society has coming to. And we can’t beat ourselves up about it. Most of us do the best that we can and I think most of us raise our children to respect and care for your fellow human beings but somewhere along the line they seem to think and act differently. At this point it’s all on them, not a reflection of us.
I miss those clotheslines where I made tents when I was a kid with some quilts. My mom hollering at us to quit playing in the drying linens blowing in the wind. Oh those simpler days were wonderful.
I laughed at what you said that woman wrote to you about being a fat grandma and hanging your wash on the line, which wouldn't be a bad thing. Every time I see clothes hanging on the line it makes me smile because it reminds me of my growing up years when we hung our clothes out. @@LittlePoet I live in Australia. We have beautiful fine weather here for most of the time so I get to hang my clothes on the line at least twice or three times every week! How lucky am I!! I agree that there is nothing better than the smell of clothes (especially sheets) that have been dried in the sun. It's the little things that bring joy that we need to hold on to. My word for the upcoming year is HEALTH! For the past two years I’ve struggled with my first serious health issue, so my focus this year is on restoring my health. Thought I was too young (age 67) and resilient for all this malarkey, but I guess I’m not immune after all. So here goes! xo
I have fibromyalgia and I battle every day just to get out of bed. I have had this illness since I was a child. I gave birth to a daughter who also has it. So this year, I will fight harder to live and enjoy my life despite this illness. Better health is on my agenda this year.
Susan, when you mentioned your grumpy neighbor and what he said, I felt inspired to comment: I don’t believe that he hates you. Rudeness is just a weak person’s imitation of strength and we are supposed to be shining stars to those around us. Don’t lose hope! Although we might not see it, “unappreciated” kindness has a greater effect on those around us than we realize. When we hold up our head with grace and politeness even after we have been hurt, we show true strength and courage.
It is a new year, Susan. I have to leave a very ugly year behind me. One step at a time. I had a cervical cancer scare this holiday season right after I lost my little dog, Lilly to a mini stroke that triggered her bad heart. This was my very first Christmas all alone. My business has been sluggish, I'm a self employed nail tech. But, my bright spot this year was friendships and finding you. I didn't spend Christmas eve alone, you and Desi kept me company. We all have triumphs and difficulties, but how we react in strength and perseverance says much about character and humor. Step by step, day by day, moment by moment we travel on through our journey of life, of living, of learning of being. Happy New year Susan and Desi. Lilly came into my life just after my father had passed and I left a hideous relationship. I needed her as much as she needed me. We both had been abused and abandoned. We healed together. One day I'll welcome a little face. One day.

I had possible serious health issues in 2022, however after a long drawn out series of tests and scans it seems that I am okay. I was very relieved but strangely also a little deflated. I think the reason I felt that way was when I thought my life might be coming to an end everything took on a preciousness - time, people, life itself, and now that I am okay I could possibly drift back to my old way of being, and I don't want to. I like living in a conscious awareness of the value of living and of people, whether they are friends, relatives or strangers. The heart softens.
This is Erie , I felt this way after a bad health scare. (a lung blockage ) it took 0ver 2 years for Doctors to find the real problem. And now 2 years later, I cherish every single moment. And feel how short life is.
Me too! February was a horrific month for me where I lost 20 pounds in 2 weeks from a serious intestinal illness! After so many tests and bloodwork, my doctors failed to find the cause. I started taking a holistic supplement of pancreatic enzymes and cured it myself. At 71, my body just doesn’t make enough digestive enzymes. I also use intermittent fasting to heal and help digestive system. Easy peasy and no drugs needed!
2022 was not a great year. I lost two of my precious cat babies. I spent a fortune on my sewer line and more on a new bathroom for my family. On the brighter side l watched videos on decor, fashion and ballet. Every weekend l enjoy my visit with you and Desi. I am prepping my wardrobe for spring. *Life is not a gift, it is a loan. We make the most of the time we have, before we are called back home.*

Dearest Susan. You continually inspire me. 2022 was challenging, but I learned a lot, like you, about how strong a woman I am. While the love of my life battles cancer, I lost my hearing in my right ear & for a musician, it’s incredibly challenging. But, I’ve grown to accept it & worked with it. Then, we celebrated 50 years of marital bless. So incredibly grateful for this gift! Then a couple weeks later, we lost our little Chug to cancer - 3 days after Christmas. He was such a handsome boy, like Desi (same size) & also proudly wore bow ties. It’s so wonderful to see Desi, as it reminds me of my angel boy. Thank you Susan - for you & Desi visiting us weekly. Lost loved one. Turning the Bigggg 70 this March ! Having a hard time It seems unbelievable to me, Don’t feel like70 , Also had New Health Issuses . We are in the process of making a big decision to move to another state to be near our grandchildren and our sons. It’s two hours away, but seems like another world. Big changes are in store!

It was not a good year for me either. I live in Belgium and I am nearly 73. After this horrible Covid, we had this war in Ukraine and although it is not here it is on our doorstep. Energy prices are 5 times higher. Heating is becoming a luxury. Food is also rocketing, even bread and vegetables. I do not eat meat but if you do, it is not every day now I think. Nothing to be joyful. And there is no more lightness in the air. People are down with all the bad news we receive every day. I know what it is to have intestinal problems. I live with Crohn disease. Thank you for your channel Susan, you are a sunshine!

I had a challenging year in 2022. My younger brother passed away 2 weeks passed his birthday on March 25. In Oct. around the 10th, I had pneumonia and a pulled muscle, which brought me closer to God. At the end of Oct. , I got the chance to help a woman in need whose name was the same as my mom’s. It all made me feel good at all the adversity that happened last year. My message that God sent me was : God is always with you. Take care Susan and Desi. Love the blue bow tie on Desi.🕊✨🦋
I’ve been living in fear since my husband has been diagnosed with heart and kidney failure and putting down my cat is just the worse pain but I need to stop living in fear and sadness and try to accept what will be. Desi is so cute, pets are the best . ❤️

Yes, the nastiness is that person's inadequacy turned inside out. Feeling love and belonging in a community is frightening to those who can't really love themselves. Their hollowness might show. Hi Susan I love seeing all the fun and beautiful treasures you show us- from lipsticks to shoes to nature- especially loved the photos of the women hanging out the laundry. While laundry is an ongoing chore, I have always loved doing the laundry for my loved ones- their clothes precious to me. And then I showed them how to do their laundry themselves! My best achievement for 2022 was making it a point to travel and visit my friends and relatives who live far away from me, while I am still able to do so with ease. The day will come when I can’t, or not all of us will still be here 😢 Looking forward to all your videos to come. And good riddance to the person who wrote that negative comment about moving to a small town. If they had any true understanding of you, they would know you will surely find the beauty there waiting for you. Heck, I want to go too :)
Hi Susan, I always find it amazing that no matter how old we are we are always learning, growing and discovering something about ourselves. What a journey life is. 2022 made me realize life is mostly about attitude and gratitude and some days it is a fight but I Realized in I have Joy and Thankfulness I live a much better life and so do the people around me that I love and care about.
When you spoke about meeting your old friends I definitely felt you. I have good friends that I can relate back to and pick right back up with after decades. Your bravery and wisdom is top notch. Lol! I loved hanging clothes on the line! I'm from a large Irish Catholic family and boy did we have the clothes line HA!! I was a PRO with the diapers. I helped with the old wringer washer too... I’ll tell you - I find Sandra, Life After 60, extremely expiring. Years ago she was featured in Romper Room + at the end of every episode she would look into her magic mirror + say she sees many of us in the mirror + would say mention common names of children who may be watching Romper Room. I find you very very inspiring. I personally relate very much to your discussions. You are so strong + brave + very compassionate. After listening to you with a good idea of how to deal with our fears, as you suggest, it is therapeutic for us to face the fear so we can heel + free ourselves of indecisiveness. Also to appreciate nature + our surroundings. ❤️
I cannot believe that I just happened to stumble across your channel!! A woman in my age bracket, going through the exact same situations that I am trying to muddle through! Sharing the same feelings, anxiety, fears and the somewhat newness of being single after not…. Thinking my ever after was secure .. when it wasn’t! 2022 was a tough year. I lost two dear friends and had two friends lose their husbands. I had an awful encounter with COVID. And, yet. There was joy and so much love. The bitter and the sweet- they both connect us to one another. One of the highlights of my year was finding your channel, and because of you, rosehip oil! ❤ My word for 2023 is “intentional” - that covers it all. Susan, bloom where you’re planted and if that includes hanging laundry on the line, so be it. I personally hang laundry on a line and the outcome is great and the fresh smell brings back memories from childhood. Mellow is a vibe that suits everyone!
2022 for me was a 3. So far this year for me is a 1 so far. I was robbed. The person or persons that robbed me took things that I can not buy anymore. The things they took were collectables. They also took a grill, a fire pit that was brand new and a beach cart. I was very sad and disappointed in the human race as I so often am.
I just turned 73 a week ago. I have six beautiful grandchildren ranging in age from 26 down to 14. I have one grandson who just graduated from the University. I have five beautiful granddaughters. Some thing I feel like I never received from my mom and dad was them saying they were proud of me. So I make it my mission in life to tell my daughter and my grand children that I am proud of them often. This last Thanksgiving I decided I was going to buy them a gift from dollar tree and I wrote a little note about how much I love them and how proud I am of them, when we celebrated my birthday, they presented me with a gift and a little note telling me how much they loved me and how proud they were of me and how they wanted to be like me. What you’re saying is absolutely right if you feel led to go and be with your family and influence your grandson, I think that’s honorable I have watched you for a long time. This is the first time I am making a comment. I love your videos.
Hi Susan, I found your videos a couple of months ago and have really enjoyed them. I've gone back over and watched so many. They're visually stunning, mentally thought provoking and very relatable. I am your age, and I moved from the East Coast, where I had a full life, to the Midwest to be with my children and, now, grandchildren. I was scared too, but most of what we are afraid of never comes to pass. It took a while, but I made some lovely friends, got a nice parttime job, and found just enough of a social life. Most of all, I am with my children and grandchildren. Life is good and the Midwest is lovely in its own way. I look to your videos to find the beauty in every day things. Hello Susan, Thank you for this honest and beautiful video. 2022 was a bad year with a job loss and 2 surgeries. This year so far there is a panic feeling to get another job fast before I run out of funds and hearing I need yet an additional surgery. The good news I keep telling myself is I made it through breast cancer and also survived blood clots, kidney stones, food poisoning and several other surgeries the last few years as well. I'm still here and kicking and trying to find the silver lining with each situation. Sometimes it takes a while to find one but there always is one. You just have to keep looking. As long as I can still sing... it's all good. There is something to learn or make you stronger with each challenge. Thank you for being a wonderful reminder to acknowledge our feelings and challenges and look for the good and carry on. It is good to count you as a friend. I recently found your channel and have binged your videos. I went through a divorce at 52 (now 66) and I am so grateful that you shared your journey with starting over to now. Standing on the edge of taking a leap into yet another unknown. I have no doubt you will land well and I can’t wait to share in your experience. I too live in Michigan and my oldest child moved in November to Muskegon with his wife and my only grandchild of 18 months. I am standing at the intersection of working full-time and retirement. Who am I when I am experiencing what can be done on a random Tuesday at 9:30 in the morning than sitting in a 2 hour meeting! What interests will I unearth when I have time to explore? Hi Susan, a very happy new year to you and everyone here on your channel. Like yourself and some others, I had a not so good 2022 also. Found out I have a leaking heart valve. Apparently it can be fixed by open heart surgery, however, because I have emphysema no-one will operate as it’s way too dangerous. I’ve since come to terms with it. At age 61 I’m hoping I still have many years left, of which I intend to make the most of. Have to admit though, I’m happy 2022 is over and pray that 2023 will be so much better for all of us. I absolutely love you, Desi, and your channel. Wishing for you that 2023 bring forth an abundance of everything that is good and great. Much love 🥰
I would follow you to Michigan, or anywhere, friend. There are 3 products that "blew me away." A local vendor, Sawyer Farms here in NH, makes a facial bar that feels like washing with moisturizer, and a shampoo bar that leaves my hair - literally - squeaky clean. I also love Jo Malone's Pear & Freesia body lotion. YOU inspire me, dear lady. Love doesn't fail, but it gets beat up sometimes. I love the "Donovan / mellow" comment. Had to leave our church sanctuary during the last hymn yesterday. Our final hymn was "How Great Thou Art" and I could hear my dad singing right beside me. Still miss him so much! Love Desi!

I am glad 2022 is over. I lost my husband very suddenly in October. I am trying to see a way forward. A friend took me to a New Year Eve dance. It was hard to hear all the songs that we used to dance to. I managed not to cry and to keep it together and dance. My aim is to try and get out more this year and meet people. When my stepfather died my mother became a recluse. It ruined the rest of her life. I don't want that to happen to me. I am so glad I found you and Desi. Susan, you're such an inspiration, for me 2022 was a terrible year. After 53 yrs. of marriage, I became a widow. Most of the year is a blur but I will be positive from now on. My word for 2023 is presence. I feel that I sat back this year for one reason or another and that has changed. So onward and upward. I love these channels of women because I feel like I've known you ladies forever. One other thing, years ago there were no clothes dryers, we had to hang laundry and our clothes smelled wonderful. I look forward each Sunday to sit on the balcony drinking my coffee and watching your videos. Your photography is wonderful and just seeing Desi makes my day. 2022 was difficult for so many people. We have to make some difficult decisions sometimes and like myself I do not have children or a significant other to bounce my ideas off of. I do my research then go with my gut feeling. So far, so good! The memories of hanging diapers on the 3 clotheslines we had in our backyard each day after school. Those cloth diapers would dry in record time, smell fresh and white and be stiff as a board when taking them down. My Mom was a foster Mom for 12 years and there was always babies at our home. I also remember when I was younger handing the clothes pins to my Grandmother while she hung laundry at her home. Your decision to move is exhilarating and a challenge at the same time. I struggled with staying happy and positive this year. I have cancer and was given 3 months to live. Through much prayer and friendship, I have been able to live 4 years. Things were going smoothly here until someone said something to me that just devastated me. I have been working on getting my spirit back up for weeks. If we can learn one thing from this, it would be keep your mean and hateful thoughts to yourself. God called us to love and support each other. I am feeling somewhat better and have promised myself to remain strong and loving ❤️ and pray for those who have no idea that words can be weapons. Words can be better used to uplift and encourage each other. I love you and really enjoy your videos. Let's all start this new year with love, compassion, and support. Dear Jill; I understand your pain. Words are harmful and stay in our memories no matter how we try to not allow them to hurt us. Usually, when I get attacked with hateful words, I quote Christ's words when he was on the cross and he looked out and said "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." This verse once you apply it to your life, you too will realize they don't understand anything and their hearts are somewhat dark. It has nothing to do with you but their words come from their hearts that have let hate and darkness have a stronghold in their hearts and mind. We truly do need to pray for these people.
I'm praying for your healing and your pain from these hateful words to fade. You, my dear are a soldier battling for your life and only you and others who have gone through this can understand. Bless you.

Susan, when you said you were moving to a town up north in 2023, I pictured you in a Cottage decorated with all your fine collections with a garden and a cute bike you rode around town to the local farmers market on. I envisioned you selling your photographs or working in a cute shop a day or 2 per week, for a hobby & to connect with others. I pictured Desi on his own chair in front of a fireplace . You know in 1985 I dreamed about a house down to fine details. 7 years ago I moved into that house. It was the first of 6 houses I flew in to look at. I manifested it at age 25, I moved in at 55. Never give up & always hold on to your dream.❤
My mum was overweight and hung her laundry on the clothes line. She was the best mum and grandmother ever and I miss her every day.

I think 2021 was horrible...I watched my mom suffering with cancer and she passed away 2 days before her 80th birthday. It's only up from there...I guess. I miss her terribly, she was the person in my life that I knew the longest. So 2022 is one of the harder years...Moving along...all that we go thru is part of our "book" I never knew how strong I was until I lost my husband 10 years ago, but losing mom was what make me realize that life is short...Do Everything and Anything you dream about...that is my hope for 2023!
I lost my dad in 2019. He lived with me for 10 years. I never realized how much I’d miss him. I lost my mom in 1994 and my oldest daughter in 1999. Loss of loved ones is the worst !
I feel for you. I lost my only sister to cancer, my dad to heart and kidney disease as well as total blindness, my mom to Alzheimer's and now the love of my life of 23 years is suffering with lung, lymph nodes and brain cancer. Almost lost my son who suffers from depression as well. So 2022 and 2023 are bad years for me and it's only January. God help us all!

2022 was the second worst year of my entire life. I had a bad fall around the end of March. I broke my nose and cut a deep gash underneath my right eye. At the hospital, I was stitched up by a very caring young surgeon. But my skin tends to scar at the least little scratch. I am now horribly disfigured and will be for the rest of my life. I also suffer from Alopecia and I am nearly completely bald on the top of my head. I've decided to have all my hair cut off and wear scarves and bonnets to cover my head. I look so forward to your videos every week. Desi is so gentle and sweet with his little wooden bird. I'm glad you had a good Christmas and New Year. If you move, I'll go with you.

I used to LOVE hanging my laundry out on the line when I was a younger woman. They smelled so good. There's nothing like getting into a bed with crisp, fresh and clean sheets on it. I agree with you, I want to be mellow this year too. I am so tired of drama from my adult children. I want to have a home of calmness and peace as I live alone as a fairly new widow. There's a reason why women can only give birth to a certain age. It's not our job to parent in our 50s and 60s. This is our time. My body isn't as strong anymore, my brain isn't as sharp as it once was. It's okay to just enjoy the grandkids. I guess I am speaking from my own experience this past year when an adult daughter came back home for a year. I must say never again will I let one of my 3 adult children come home to live with me again. This generation can be brutal and very disrespectful. They think everything is for free. It is beyond anything that I would have even dared to go with my own parents. Anyone identify? Anyways, give Desi a kiss on the head for me. He is such a handsome little fellow.

"This generation can be brutal and very disrespectful." Oh, Renee, can I ever identify with you. I am happily old school, and my daughter is not......and her life is not what I wanted for her but it is the life she chooses. Her husband and girls create a lot of drama and she lives with it, I cannot so only visit for 5 days max, 2 for travel and 3 actual at her home. She called me a "Karen" the other day, laughingly, but still, and the 17yr old couldn't get over my reporting to management blatant obscenities at their store. I said there used to be obscenity laws, and what I reported was obscene, rude and disrespectful. It is no longer "my" world, I am now 3-4 generations removed from it, and I choose not to participate in it much at all.
Unfortunately a lot of the young adults nowadays feel way too entitled. And they are very disrespectful and inconsiderate. It’s really sad with what society has coming to. And we can’t beat ourselves up about it. Most of us do the best that we can and I think most of us raise our children to respect and care for your fellow human beings but somewhere along the line they seem to think and act differently. At this point it’s all on them, not a reflection of us.
“Love never fails - it’s people who fail to love”. Very honest and true saying. Love is the answer that solves every problem and fear.
I miss those clotheslines where I made tents when I was a kid with some quilts. My mom hollering at us to quit playing in the drying linens blowing in the wind. Oh those simpler days were wonderful.
I laughed at what you said that woman wrote to you about being a fat grandma and hanging your wash on the line, which wouldn't be a bad thing. Every time I see clothes hanging on the line it makes me smile because it reminds me of my growing up years when we hung our clothes out. I agree that there is nothing better than the smell of clothes (especially sheets) that have been dried in the sun. It's the little things that bring joy that we need to hold on to. One of the very best kind hearted woman I've ever known was overweight and always hung clothes on the line winter, spring, summer and fall. She was my beautiful Grandmother Fern Leah.
My word for the upcoming year is HEALTH! For the past two years I’ve struggled with my first serious health issue, so my focus this year is on restoring my health. Thought I was too young (age 67) and resilient for all this malarkey, but I guess I’m not immune after all. So here goes! xo
I have fibromyalgia and I battle every day just to get out of bed. I have had this illness since I was a child. I gave birth to a daughter who also has it. So this year, I will fight harder to live and enjoy my life despite this illness. Better health is on my agenda this year.

Susan, when you mentioned your grumpy neighbor and what he said, I felt inspired to comment: I don’t believe that he hates you. Rudeness is just a weak person’s imitation of strength and we are supposed to be shining stars to those around us. Don’t lose hope! Although we might not see it, “unappreciated” kindness has a greater effect on those around us than we realize. When we hold up our head with grace and politeness even after we have been hurt, we show true strength and courage.

It is a new year, Susan. I have to leave a very ugly year behind me. One step at a time. I had a cervical cancer scare this holiday season right after I lost my little dog, Lilly to a mini stroke that triggered her bad heart. This was my very first Christmas all alone. My business has been sluggish, I'm a self employed nail tech. But, my bright spot this year was friendships and finding you. I didn't spend Christmas eve alone, you and Desi kept me company. We all have triumphs and difficulties, but how we react in strength and perseverance says much about character and humor. Step by step, day by day, moment by moment we travel on through our journey of life, of living, of learning of being. Happy New year Susan and Desi. I look forward to a year filled with your amazing photography and philosophy of wonder and memorie. Thanks so much.

Lilly came into my life just after my father had passed and I left a hideous relationship. I needed her as much as she needed me. We both had been abused and abandoned. We healed together. One day I'll welcome a little face. One day.

I had possible serious health issues in 2022, however after a long drawn out series of tests and scans it seems that I am okay. I was very relieved but strangely also a little deflated. I think the reason I felt that way was when I thought my life might be coming to an end everything took on a preciousness - time, people, life itself, and now that I am okay I could possibly drift back to my old way of being, and I don't want to. I like living in a conscious awareness of the value of living and of people, whether they are friends, relatives or strangers. The heart softens.

This is Erie , I felt this way after a bad health scare. (a lung blockage ) it took 0ver 2 years for Doctors to find the real problem. And now 2 years later, I cherish every single moment.
And feel how short life is.
Me too! February was a horrific month for me where I lost 20 pounds in 2 weeks from a serious intestinal illness! After so many tests and bloodwork, my doctors failed to find the cause. I started taking a holistic supplement of pancreatic enzymes and cured it myself. At 71, my body just doesn’t make enough digestive enzymes. I also use intermittent fasting to heal and help digestive system. Easy peasy and no drugs needed!
2022 was not a great year. I lost two of my precious cat babies. I spent a fortune on my sewer line and more on a new bathroom for my family. On the brighter side l watched videos on decor, fashion and ballet. Every weekend l enjoy my visit with you and Desi. I am prepping my wardrobe for spring.

Dearest Susan. You continually inspire me. 2022 was challenging, but I learned a lot, like you, about how strong a woman I am. While the love of my life battles cancer, I lost my hearing in my right ear & for a musician, it’s incredibly challenging. But, I’ve grown to accept it & worked with it. Then, we celebrated 50 years of marital bless. So incredibly grateful for this gift! Then a couple weeks later, we lost our little Chug to cancer - 3 days after Christmas. He was such a handsome boy, like Desi (same size) & also proudly wore bow ties. It’s so wonderful to see Desi, as it reminds me of my angel boy. Thank you Susan - for you & Desi visiting us weekly. It means so much to me. A happy & heathy new year❤
I’ve realized at 61, that God has isolated me. 2022; women just do not want to be friends. Of course I’m single, so I’m bad news to a lot of women. But that’s OK. I have God.

It was not a good year for me either. I live in Belgium and I am nearly 73. After this horrible Covid, we had this war in Ukraine and although it is not here it is on our doorstep. Energy prices are 5 times higher. Heating is becoming a luxury. Food is also rocketing, even bread and vegetables. I do not eat meat but if you do, it is not every day now I think. Nothing to be joyful. And there is no more lightness in the air. People are down with all the bad news we receive every day. I know what it is to have intestinal problems. I live with Crohn disease. Thank you for your channel Susan, you are a sunshine!

I had a challenging year in 2022. My younger brother passed away 2 weeks passed his birthday on March 25. In Oct. around the 10th, I had pneumonia and a pulled muscle, which brought me closer to God. At the end of Oct. , I got the chance to help a woman in need whose name was the same as my mom’s. It all made me feel good at all the adversity that happened last year. My message that God sent me was : God is always with you. Take care Susan and Desi. Love the blue bow tie on Desi.🕊✨🦋
I’ve been living in fear since my husband has been diagnosed with heart and kidney failure and putting down my cat is just the worse pain but I need to stop living in fear and sadness and try to accept what will be. Desi is so cute, pets are the best . ❤️

Hi Susan I love seeing all the fun and beautiful treasures you show us- from lipsticks to shoes to nature- especially loved the photos of the women hanging out the laundry. While laundry is an ongoing chore, I have always loved doing the laundry for my loved ones- their clothes precious to me. And then I showed them how to do their laundry themselves! My best achievement for 2022 was making it a point to travel and visit my friends and relatives who live far away from me, while I am still able to do so with ease. The day will come when I can’t, or not all of us will still be here 😢 Looking forward to all your videos to come. And good riddance to the person who wrote that negative comment about moving to a small town. If they had any true understanding of you, they would know you will surely find the beauty there waiting for you. Heck, I want to go too :)
Hi Susan, I always find it amazing that no matter how old we are we are always learning, growing and discovering something about ourselves. What a journey life is. 2022 made me realize life is mostly about attitude and gratitude and some days it is a fight but I Realized in I have Joy and Thankfulness I live a much better life and so do the people around me that I love and care about.

Years ago she was featured in Romper Room + at the end of every episode she would look into her magic mirror + say she sees many of us in the mirror + would say mention common names of children who may be watching Romper Room. I find you very very inspiring. I personally relate very much to your discussions. You are so strong + brave + very compassionate. After listening to you with a good idea of how to deal with our fears, as you suggest, it is therapeutic for us to face the fear so we can heel + free ourselves of indecisiveness. 2022 was a tough year. I lost two dear friends and had two friends lose their husbands. I had an awful encounter with COVID. And, yet. There was joy and so much love. The bitter and the sweet- they both connect us to one another.

2022 for me was a 3. So far this year for me is a 1 so far. I was robbed. The person or persons that robbed me took things that I can not buy anymore. The things they took were collectables. They also took a grill, a fire pit that was brand new and a beach cart. I was very sad and disappointed in the human race as I so often am.
I just turned 73 a week ago. I have six beautiful grandchildren ranging in age from 26 down to 14. I have one grandson who just graduated from the University. I have five beautiful granddaughters. Some thing I feel like I never received from my mom and dad was them saying they were proud of me. So I make it my mission in life to tell my daughter and my grand children that I am proud of them often. This last Thanksgiving I decided I was going to buy them a gift from dollar tree and I wrote a little note about how much I love them and how proud I am of them, when we celebrated my birthday, they presented me with a gift and a little note telling me how much they loved me and how proud they were of me and how they wanted to be like me. What you’re saying is absolutely right if you feel led to go and be with your family and influence your grandson, I think that’s honorable I have watched you for a long time. This is the first time I am making a comment. I love your videos.

Hi Susan, I found your videos a couple of months ago and have really enjoyed them. I've gone back over and watched so many. They're visually stunning, mentally thought provoking and very relatable. I am your age, and I moved from the East Coast, where I had a full life, to the Midwest to be with my children and, now, grandchildren. I was scared too, but most of what we are afraid of never comes to pass. It took a while, but I made some lovely friends, got a nice parttime job, and found just enough of a social life. Most of all, I am with my children and grandchildren. Life is good and the Midwest is lovely in its own way. I look to your videos to find the beauty in every day things. Hello Susan, Thank you for this honest and beautiful video. 2022 was a bad year with a job loss and 2 surgeries. This year so far there is a panic feeling to get another job fast before I run out of funds and hearing I need yet an additional surgery. The good news I keep telling myself is I made it through breast cancer and also survived blood clots, kidney stones, food poisoning and several other surgeries the last few years as well. I'm still here and kicking and trying to find the silver lining with each situation. Sometimes it takes a while to find one but there always is one. You just have to keep looking. As long as I can still sing... it's all good. There is something to learn or make you stronger with each challenge. Thank you for being a wonderful reminder to acknowledge our feelings and challenges and look for the good and carry on. It is good to count you as a friend. Well she would not want to spend time with me, I love hanging my laundry on the line. The peace of doing such an everyday task & watching it blow in the wind is priceless. Maybe I’ll shop for a house dress similar to the ones my grandmother wore just for the fun of it. A new home in a new town sounds anything but boring. Looking forward to sharing in your adventures.❤

I recently found your channel and have binged your videos. I went through a divorce at 52 (now 66) and I am so grateful that you shared your journey with starting over to now. Standing on the edge of taking a leap into yet another unknown. I have no doubt you will land well and I can’t wait to share in your experience. I too live in Michigan and my oldest child moved in November to Muskegon with his wife and my only grandchild of 18 months. I am standing at the intersection of working full-time and retirement. Who am I when I am experiencing what can be done on a random Tuesday at 9:30 in the morning than sitting in a 2 hour meeting! What interests will I unearth when I have time to explore? I get excited when I visualize what it will be like! Thank you for leading the way and being so genuine and humorous! Can’t wait to see where 2023 takes you!
Hi Susan, a very happy new year to you and everyone here on your channel. Like yourself and some others, I had a not so good 2022 also. Found out I have a leaking heart valve. Apparently it can be fixed by open heart surgery, however, because I have emphysema no-one will operate as it’s way too dangerous. I’ve since come to terms with it. At age 61 I’m hoping I still have many years left, of which I intend to make the most of. Have to admit though, I’m happy 2022 is over and pray that 2023 will be so much better for all of us.

There are 3 products that "blew me away." A local vendor, Sawyer Farms here in NH, makes a facial bar that feels like washing with moisturizer, and a shampoo bar that leaves my hair - literally - squeaky clean. I also love Jo Malone's Pear & Freesia body lotion.

And yes, I am tired of being the good, brave, caring for everyone but myself kind a woman and want to mellow out and hope to live by myself this year, instead being there for my kids every day and raise there kids! I love my grandkids, but I am almost 68 and want to be by myself and my little dog Zoey and do what I want to do, and that is my goal for this year!
I am glad 2022 is over. I lost my husband very suddenly in October. I am trying to see a way forward. A friend took me to a New Year Eve dance. It was hard to hear all the songs that we used to dance to. I managed not to cry and to keep it together and dance. My aim is to try and get out more this year and meet people. When my stepfather died my mother became a recluse.
It ruined the rest of her life. I don't want that to happen to me. I am so glad I found you and Desi. By the way, I have a lovely garden and yes I do hang my washing out on the line !. Happy New Year and much love from your viewer in Sussex, UK.

Susan, you're such an inspiration, for me 2022 was a terrible year. After 53 yrs. of marriage, I became a widow. Most of the year is a blur but I will be positive from now on. My word for 2023 is presence. I feel that I sat back this year for one reason or another and that has changed. So onward and upward. I love these channels of women because I feel like I've known you ladies forever. One other thing, years ago there were no clothes dryers, we had to hang laundry and our clothes smelled wonderful. I still like to hang my sheets but only on occasion. Be well.

2022 was difficult for so many people. We have to make some difficult decisions sometimes and like myself I do not have children or a significant other to bounce my ideas off of. I do my research then go with my gut feeling. So far, so good!
The memories of hanging diapers on the 3 clotheslines we had in our backyard each day after school. Those cloth diapers would dry in record time, smell fresh and white and be stiff as a board when taking them down. My Mom was a foster Mom for 12 years and there was always babies at our home. I also remember when I was younger handing the clothes pins to my Grandmother while she hung laundry at her home.
Your decision to move is exhilarating and a challenge at the same time. I think you will have a world of new photographs and memories.
