Loved watchin these old friends practice in Jose's basement, Nuno was still in high school, my roomate was the drummer Bobby O'Brien, great guys all of them, and i knew Nuno was going to be famous, didn't take long

18 and frighteningly good! I'm glad we got Extreme, but if Sinful had gotten signed and released this, every hotshot guitar player of the day would have scampered back home to practice. George, Warren...everyone. This is mind-blowing guitar playing!
I worked with Bobby O'brien and I'll never forget the stories he used to tell me. He handed me a tape of this exact demo and told me Nuno will be famous soon...this was summer 1987. Flash forward 10yrs and Bobby caught my band live and he asked me to jam with him and a bass player. Good stuff...never forget that stuff.

wow wish i knew about this lp a few months ago when nuno was up here with generation axe. its a small world after all spend so much time back in the late 80's seeing and following rockcandy
This such a treat for me to listen too! Been an Extreme/Nuno fan since 1990. However, this does "sound" more mid-80's, very much like Ratt, Motley Crew, and Judas Priest IMO. But, you can still hear how amazing a player Nuno was a very young age. Just fantabulous to hear this!
Wow, I’d never heard pre Extreme Nuno. This is pretty cool. Definitely glad he got with Gary and formed Extreme though
that's not what happened... Nuno joined Extreme after the Original Guitarist Peter Hunt was let go in fact the initial idea was to have 2 guitarist and when Nuno started to warm up during the audition the other guitarist heard Nuno play and put his guitar back in his case and he said you don't need me and left and for the record Matt MaKay was a really good guitarist in his own right
Wow, Nuno was shredding years before Extreme! His playing was hot, and you can hear tiny little aspects of his unique style emerging. He didn't fully develop into the Nuno we love until Pornograffiti.

I enjoyed the whole EP. Midnight Hour sounds close to Stone Cold Crazy by Queen, and we know that Nuno is a big fan!

Wow! Thanks for sharing this! There was a certain “Yngwie Malmsteen” vibe in a lot of Nuno’s lead work here... and understandably so, given the year this is from and the impact that it caused thru the guitar community. Nevertheless, it’s great!

All i can think here is, that in an alernative dimension, this young guitarist was brought in to replace Jake E Lee by Ozzy, on here he sounds SPOT ON for that type of band, his 'funk, pinches and muting' must have developed much more after this.

This is interesting, if you take away the solo's and Nuno's awesome runs and fills I would swear this is mid 80's Ratt.....just insert Pearcy's Vocals. The guy phrases just like him
How come I don't know any famous people?
"know" is a strong term sometimes, i've met and been in similar places as some famous people, but doubt I know any...but it's nice to say, oh x went to same school, or i played guitar in same rehearsal space as y, or x served me when they was just a barman. (all true stories, i just didn't name drop haha)
before Michael Waggener ("acclaimed engineer" bla bla bla) RUINED Nuno's guitar sound... 🤣🤣 took him some 10 years to fully recover from that trauma, dude almost gave up on guitar entirely... wow...
