Is there anything Kevin McKidd can't do? Seriously, he is just... so one of a kind. Incredibly handsome, a fantastic actor, a gifted musician, and most of all the kindest man in the world. Not to mention this song feels so warm and welcoming to hear that makes you feel a part of the piece. Everything about this song I love, from the beginning all the way to the end. It's just so beautiful.
Kevin's voice is so warm and soothing. Like sitting in front of a fire on a cold winter night. Just a comfortable, peaceful type of feeling. Absolutely loved this song!
What a tremendous tribute to Scotland Kevin is……… wonderful actor and ambassador. Very proud to call him a countryman and a perfect example of being a 🏴 Scot.
I just found out that my father whom I have never met is Scottish, and am planning to visit Scotland next year to learn about my heritage and family (big leap for a mixed race boy who has never left Los Angeles). This song makes me feel something deep in my heart and stomach that I can't explain, and it makes me tear up. I'm definitely playing this the plane ride there. "I'm going home"
I wont lie, my liking for Kevin began with Grey's, but now i'm more exposed to the man he really is. His pride for his family and his country amazes me, i dont think anyone from the U.S. could do that! If i had any wish in the whole world would be to meet Kevin Mckidd and learn more about what his songs mean to him! Plus he's freaking georgeous. :)
Kevin is one of my all time favorite actors! Hands down! I had no idea that he sang, absolutely amazing! He is one guy I would love to meet. Rome is mine and my wife's favorite show!
Still moves me greatly. Special mention for the fantastic photographs & direction by the mighty Iain Robertson. Nice project for a really great cause. Thanks for all you great people who supported us, you made it important. Bryan T.
don't know why i am getting teary as I am sitting in Peterhead not too far from Fochabers. I love this and am going to put others in the kn ow of this group. This is meaningful and the arrangement takes it to a modern sound.
Such a beautiful song! Third time I've listened to it and I'm in tears again! Congrats to all of you on a job well done! Kevin, your grandfather would be so very proud of what you and all the Sessioners have accomplished with this album. A fine tribute!!
I'm from Colombia, Well I actually I have little relation to Scotland, well for all I know, but this sounds so nearby, so familiar! But to me Scotland is a wonderfull place to live!
Well, my grandmother's surname is Duncan and my grandfather who is Scottish and English claims both his family names (Montgomery-Drewello; originally Drewell but he felt like adding an "o" for some reason haha).
Speyside makes a great Single Malt too. The Speyside Whisky Festival every Fall is a great way to enjoy the cool breezes that time of year. A bit too close to Glasgow for my liking.
For fame and for fortune I wandered the earth And now I've come back to the land of my birth I've brought back my treasures but only to find They're less than the pleasures I first left behind CHORUS For these are my mountains and this is my glen The braes of my childhood will know me again No land's ever claimed me tho' far I did roam For these are my mountains and I'm going home and I'm coming home The berm by the road sings at my going by The lark overhead wings a welcoming cry The loch where the scart flies at last I can see It's here where my heart lies it's here I'll be free Kind faces will meet me and welcome me in And how they will greet me my ain kith and kin The night by the ingle old sangs will be sung At last I'll be hearing my ain mother tongue.
Sung so beautifully ❤
I'm British but I've always wished I was Scottish I could listen to this all day . Happy Hogmanay

My dad has been gone almost 40yrs now, but I can still hear him proudly singing this song.
I've listened to this wonderful version of my dad's favourite song so much over the last few years. . He passed away early this month. RIP Johnny Jim.
This is so good. I love knowing that behind that American accent on Grey's there's that Scottish hunk with an amazing voice!
Adore Scotland.

Amazing... one of the few songs that actually gave me chills :) ... I love Scotland more than my own country... I must not be the only one though! ;)

Ancient Scot heritage... Struck through the heart by this. Feel like I'll never be the same.

Lovely to hear a proper folky version instead of those stylized easy listening ones!

Beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!
For fame and for fortune I wandered the earth
And now I've come back to the land of my birth
I've brought back my treasures but only to find
They're less than the pleasures I first left behind
CHORUS
For these are my mountains and this is my glen
The braes of my childhood will know me again
No land's ever claimed me tho' far I did roam
For these are my mountains and I'm going home
and I'm coming home
The berm by the road sings at my going by
The lark overhead wings a welcoming cry
The loch where the scart flies at last I can see
It's here where my heart lies it's here I'll be free
Kind faces will meet me and welcome me in
And how they will greet me my ain kith and kin
The night by the ingle old sangs will be sung
At last I'll be hearing my ain mother tongue.
