What's upsetting, though Light has a reason he wanted to change the world, but those who didn't see what he saw, saw only a killer.... but they're no better, if Light goes down, then they're letting the senseless violence of the world continue. As he told (in both anime, and the live action films from Japan) that crime rate has gone down because of him. Which they still didn't choose to accept. And I know one thing, they follow their laws, and rules of who gets to live or die by the system...
I remember in the live action film; Light's father said; "The world ain't perfect"... and I say that's just an excuse... you admit the world is horrible, just as how they're wanting the violence to continue... So Light's POV of the future was pretty much how it is... yet, in the end, there's no winners...
Just more senseless violence.
