It's crazy, nearly 35 years ago I begged my grandfather for a massive Apache model. He promised he'd get it for me if got a 4.0 for my final quarter of the school year. I nailed it! I'm almost 50! Now my grandson wants one. It doesn't surprise me the airframe is still in production. A damn fine aircraft.

When I was at Rucker some of the IPs who flew Guns in Vietnam said the Apache was too big and complex for a Gunship. I respected their opinion but didn’t understand why they couldn’t see the differences in technology now and the need for what you have on the modern battlefield. Having switched over to the Apache a ,title over a year ago I am absolutely amazed at its capabilities. It is supposed to be the primary Attack Helicopter until 2050.
Impressive and effective machine. No doubt about that. No serious nation can fight a war and succeed without having combat helicopters. This one product that the USA has succeeded in making. Even India has bought them, despite their hefty price, which says much about their effectiveness.
Funny you should mention India when they've won wars without employing attack heptrs. But even Indian military is now inducting Attack heptrs at a high rate. They bought the heavier Apache and are domestically making the lighter HAL Prachanda at the same rate at which Apache is produced in USA. They've also got some older Russian attack heptrs and a lot of domestic Armed Heptrs called HAL Rudra. So yeah, future wars of India will see massive employment of attack heptrs in conjunction with drones.

The information in this is off a bit. The building facility parameters are correct, however just north of Mesa and the Boeing facility is a huge range which spans northward and along the Verde River. When I was with the AZ National Guard, prior to Desert Storm, we performed a lot of maneuvers in this area as they tested the Apaches systems.
Ah, nothing like a computer-narrated video. 😅 I used to work at the Mesa plant, doing video production. I was in the assembly area many times, shooting many videos on one aspect or another. Also got to travel to various army posts to get footage of flying Apaches. The sound of those engines and rotors is burned into my memory. Good times.
It's not depressing. For one, it employs more people, and gives more jobs. But also, it helps to ensure quality control by having many, many pairs of eyes and hands check over parts through the process. The aircraft is also not designed to be built by automation (its a 1970s aircraft), and as such robots can't fit into many of the required enclosed spaces while a person can.

I don't think "flimsy" is the word you were looking for . In my opinion. To me when a plane or helicopter is "flimsy" it bends and not sound structurally.. if that was the case the airframe wouldn't still be in production. Likely not pass the testing phase. Maybe "minimalistic" as far as the shell thickness.. or just plain "thin" like the WW1 fighters that had clothe stretched over a inner frame.
Can you tell me where in India you say the fuselage is built? I asked this because my brother worked to built the Apache fuselage in Arizona so I was wondering if there is a second assembly and production of the Apache helicopter overseas. It’s a great helicopter and I’m not surprised so many countries want to fly it.
@@MrDariolett So judging by the fact that production rate in India is around 33 fuselage per annum (despite Covid-19), and that this video says USA's total production rate is 32 Apache per annum, it implies that the Apache fuselage production facility in USA where your brother worked has been shut down.
