I wonder if they're edible? I get sort of hungry looking at them. But they should be washed if they're to be eaten. My dog recognizes the threat they pose, as he likes to spray them. After lifting his leg, of course.
We no longer have this issue in Ohio. Here, the Aesculus glabra tree, commonly known as Ohio buckeye, drops its fruit, a 2 inch round capsule containing one nut-like seed which prevents the issue. The inedible buckeyes contain tannic acid and are poisonous to cattle, humans, and gnomes. After minutes of research, it has been shown that it is not the tannic acid that deters the pest but rather the fear of sudden death - blunt trauma to the gnome dome - that has driven the creature west. Apparently, they have taken up residence in Utah. Sorry for the inconvenience. But as we say in Ohio - GO BUCKEYES, GO GNOMES, and GO WEST.
Thank you so very much for this priceless, important information when I was in actual fact searching for the scene from "the pest" where he is asked if he committed the murder of what I can only assume was a duck. Thank you. It's such a nuisance.
This issue is all due to David Bowie. " My front garden, the back yard , and even the dining room . " Ha Ha Hee , I'm A Laughing Gnome and You can't Catch Me. Said the Laughing Gnome ". Need Help !
I strongly disagree...they're not invasive...and they're only ornery if they aren't fed and watered. Usually with mead. And oranges....fermented berries....herb...🤣
Thanks for all the great information! You left out the use of skilled garden gloves as a deterrent though. You'll see a pair in my video -- wrangling a gnome!
My tabby cat, Maggie, has a nose for gnomes and can sniff one out anywhere in our yard. They are terrified of her and depart quickly! Maggie is my chief strategy for gnome management.
Rock trolls are pretty hard to get rid of, but gnomes will help. If you do decide to welcome gnomes into your yard, you may want to close up any pet doors. If a gnome can find a way into your house they may settle into your indoor plants.

I've shared this with our Master Gardener Volunteers for the past 10 years every April 1st . . . and it still makes me giggle every time!
Apparently I am watching this 14 years later. So super cute!
Well done and very funny!
This is adorable. Made me laugh.
this brought me great joy today
This is brilliant. I can't believe this is 7 years old and I just found it. This should go viral. This man is my new hero.
Great video.
I don't know how you could keep a straight face through this whole thing. Would love to see your bloopers.

How he kept a straight face during this is amazing!

An important issue that is finally getting the recognition it needs. Thank you!

Fantastic, love it. "Biological controls" too funny!
Thank you for this delightful segment! Keep up this good work; we need to be aware of what we're up against!
Thank you thank you. Again you have alerted me and made me ever more vigilant. This is terrifying.

yes, tribbles, deer, and rabbit are my primary pest issues in the home landscape.
Very clever! Good for a chuckle!
Thanks. I've been using chemicals to try to control them for years. It's good to know that there are more natural solutions for this problem.
this is the greatest video i have ever seen.

Help!! A large gnome has infested my living room and is over-wintering in my knick knacks!!
great info!!
i actually thought this was true🤣🤣🤣🤣
GREAT for April 1st - fools day!
Very nicely done. It should've gone viral by now. I'll see what I can do to help.

There are no gnomes in Sweeden. No reports that anybody down there has ever seen them.
Do you have a management video for pink flamingos? They keep showing up everywhere!
lmao
Just be glad it's not the dreaded plastic pink flamingo from Cicero infestation.
Yo I must be high I thought he was showing us real life gnomes like how where they moving ? Lmao
Did you know that May is Invasive Species Action Month? Get out there, gardeners!!
Hitchhiking
Forwarded to the www.Travelocity.com office, which seems to have a significant infestation problem.
I have JUST THE THING for this little problem :)
UF/IFAS Extension's Gardening in a Minute crew LOVES this video! :)
this is anti gnome propaganda!!! gnomes are beautiful creatures and need to be protected
... but they are sooooooo damn cute!

they sound like the voices in "Several Species of Small Furry Animals" from Pink Floyd!
Very funny... Hopefully these folks made this on their own time.

Haha. That's just silly, I have never gnome one of those little fellas to invade a garden!
Surely you jest 🤣🤣🤣
Will Gnomes keep the rock trolls out of my garden? I'll set up some gourd huts for them !!

Those nomes are pesky! Thanks for the tips to keep them at bay.
I still like the garden gnomes even though that they might be invasive
I misread this at first. Thought it said, "Gnome Magnet in the Garden". That's probably also true
It's a gnome fact...
Dam it Gnome chompski
I freaking love this!
Too funny! LOL
I don’t believe this, I have four gnomes and their very sweet, I’m sure they dont mean any harm sir.
You guys just don't know how to cook 'em.
This is hilarious
The Extension Dept. is just asking for trouble here. I would gladly trade the cement deer that invaded my yard last year, for gnomes!
Actually i think they have been around a lot longer and are a lot more prevalent than he thinks. Where do you think the Great Salt Lake comes from?
Omg this is hilarious!
This is priceless! We have a growing infestation in my neighborhood. Can I borrow your dog? :)
this is GRRREAT :D
The Gnome Liberation Front is going to plotz when they see this.
Gnomes Lives Matter
Hilarious!
ha ha!!
😂😂😂😂
😄😄🤣🤣🤣🤣
Is he married?
Lol

Thank you thank you. Again you have alerted me and made me ever more vigilant. This is terrifying.
