Emily, you did an amazing job on this album, as a diehard fan of the Darkness, I mean it. I firmly believe that without you, we (the fans, and The Darkness too) wouldn't have had an album to enjoy, and it wouldn't've been of this quality. It was a shame that you didn't stay in the band, but I think things happen for a reason. Roaring waters is my 2nd fav song from Last of our kind (Open fire is my 1st). Greetings from Mexico City
Ever since I saw this video I have been able to appreciate and enjoy this song on such another level. It’s just so good.
Have listened to the entire album over and over, but this song just sticks in my head. The backbeat is just phenomenal. And the entire album (especially the drum behind the Barbarian voiceover) drums are killer. Awesome job, Emily......!

Hate to say it but I lost track of The Darkness for a few years. I kind of gave up on them after the original split. Decided a couple of weeks ago to go back and see what they had been up to. I listened to Hot Cakes but it really didnt do it for me. Then I gave Last of our Kind a spin and Holy Shit! It's been playing on a loop for 2 weeks now, Great Job all around! Love your drums, best to you!

This album has the highest concentration of my favourite Darkness songs on it.
Sending love for one of my favourite tracks from that banging album! My poor Spotify keeps suggesting other bands but I'm like 'naaaah'. Life is short, so I'm just sticking with the darkness 😁👍. Christ, that was fantastic. I am a massive The Darkness fan, and Last Of Our Kind was easily the tightest album they've put out, and also the added bonus of having some honestly excellent drumming. Now, I'm a bit of a snob, but thank you for the work you did on that album. You are one hell of a drummer.

It was fantastic. Which is what I say about every Darkness album, but I think this one had the tightest instrumentation. Really fun to listen to as a metal fan.

I still don't understand how you do THAT PART :) in the song. Does the tempo change in therms of bpm? Is there a single unifying count going on in your head that you use to count both the straight and triplet part? If yes what is it? Is it some kind of a polyrhythm thing? Thanks!
Hehehe yea it is a bit of a mad one, so I'm sitting here trying to think of how to explain it, but I guess it's like a 2 over 3 feel, so triplets over 1/4 notes - if you tap 2 notes with your left hand, then at the same time 3 on your right within the same time so the 1's always hit together, that's what it is... sorry, bit of a rubbish explanation, but I've always found it hard to articulate things like that (and over articulate many other things! Ha!) Hope that makes some sense?!?!

I just love this woman. She did an incredible job on the record. Too bad she's already out of the band. I thought it was brilliant The Darkness recruited a female drummer.

This, along with 'Mighty Wings' and 'Always Had The Blues' are my fave three tracks on the album (the whole of which is just stunning!!). And yeah, triplets/shuffles etc. are great fun to play. I like the way you integrate it into this track. Great work, Emily! As a fellow drummer, i just love watching you play. Mucho respect and best wishes... \m/ (:o)
