Let's keep it real. After the break, this was a 500 baseball team. Bullpen was bad, money players were bad as well as coaching. That bad play caught up to the whole team
The answer is pretty obvious that Estevez walks and Hoffman should be extended, but maybe Hoffman cost himself some money with his playoff implosion. I really wouldn’t want to give him anything longer than like 2-3 years and not much more than like $10 million. Relievers are so volatile, big contracts are almost never worth while
@@coreywilliam8474 no he hasn’t “cost us” anything, if our guidelines were that relievers who allow runs stink than guess what, everybody is gone. The offense of this team, regardless of how much they’re paid, absolutely sucks and has gone ice cold two years in a row, three if you include the WS.
I think that the hitters were shut down the last two years. In 2022 the team was smashing the ball. It's ridiculous that they only got 3 or 4 hits till the 7th inning@@coreywilliam8474
Complacency and arrogance. Never should have pulled Wheeler. And then you save him for a game 5?!? Mets have been rocking relievers with late comebacks all year. Estevez? Hardest position in the world is to come in to a tight game with bases loaded against a hot team. Topper is the problem. He did not have this team ready to compete.
Wheeler should have pitched game 4 as either a starter or a reliever when Ranger was replaced, as it was a must win game and the Phillies did not protect their lead.
@@paulready8897The issue was the relievers, let's say they had done that and won, in the next game at some point you would have to hand the game over to the reliever. Beyond the poor work of the relief, the offense could not contribute, if the Phillies believed that Harper and Castellanos were always going to help them, they made a big mistake.
As a Mets fan, I think Phillies fans are overacting a bit when talking about an overhaul of the roster. I think it just stings more that it was the Mets to win. I’ll tell you one thing though, get Schwarber out of the leadoff spot and put him 2nd or 3rd and get a speedy leadoff hitter who reaches for AVG. The only player who fits this bill as a leadoff hitter who is already on your ball club and will get on is Turner. Perhaps the move can turn him around for the better too like it had on Schwarber who you are only basically getting solo HR shots from.
As another Mets fan, I don't think they even can overhaul their roster. They're locked into a bunch of contracts that nobody wants, Bohm isn't bringing back anything, and what's the point of trading Schwarber in his last year unless you're rebuilding in 2025
The Pen increases in significance in the postseason. The NYY advanced mostly due to their pen rocking a 0.00 in that series. The offense hasn't really gotten going and the starters could have been better in every game except 4. I can't stand the Mets and I was pulling for the Phils for a possible 2009 rematch.
I like Kerkering a lot. While he obviously struggled in the NLDS, I really didn’t feel as if he threw all that bad. The couple mistakes he made got hit. Sometimes you get away with missing your spot, but it seemed like he didn’t. Aside from that, when he did execute he was real good. Strahm was a big time disappointment. His velo was down around 92 in all of his appearances. Hoffman looked like a complete mess. Alvarado got 2 quick outs in game 3 before falling apart. Estevez didn’t impress. Honestly, considering it was a 1-0 game going into the sixth in game 4, I absolutely would’ve had Wheeler out there from the pen. It was win or go home and you have the best pitcher on the planet available? It should have been a no brainer.
The easiest decision to make is the first decision, replace the President, manager, and coaches. That is the place to start. I would replace every pitcher except Wheeler and make Nola a reliever, or replace him as he his way too inconsistent as a starter. I would make Rojas a late inning defensive substitute, pinch runner, or replace him. I would also replace every position play with the exception of Harper, Casty, and possibly JT but somebody definitely needs to teach him how to hit.
Stott can stay but Bohm Marsh & Rojas can go. I had a couple trade ideas for Bohm Bohm & a couple prospects for Vlad Jr Bohm to Arizona for Jake McCarthy Sign Bregman instead of Soto
The ONE common denominator with this entire pitching staff, starters and relievers, that no one has said ANYTHING about for three seasons in a row now……CALEB CAWTHAN!!!! Absolutely the worst example of a pitching coach I have ever seen.
The other common denominator is the manager. Hoffman comes in I believe in the 6th and gets out of a tough jam. You were not shocked to see him come out in the 7th? I was. A guy who has been having command issues, and who seldom, if ever pitched multiple innings is begging for disaster. Then he sits there letting him load the bases. I’m done with Topper. We need a manager with better instincts, and who won’t give away 5-6 games a year because a guy might have to pitch an extra day.
@@JohnCap523Hoffman came into the 5th. He was doing full warm ups every inning before starting in the second. And then was expected back out the next inning. He’s usually a 1-2 inning guy, but technically he was already up to 4-5 (50 pitches).
@@blackdeathgaming1351 Uh no. Hoffman pitched in more than one inning exactly one time in 2024 until that fateful day. I just went game by game through his game log. As Richie Ashburn would say, ya gotta have a feel for the game. It was just stupid to bring him back after getting out of that jam, after 4-5 straight bad outings, to start another inning and even worse to let him load the bases. This wasn’t a Clearwater game in March.
What did Washington ask for Jesse winker and lane Thomas that the Phillies couldn’t get either one of them? Imagine if Phillies have one of them on this team
Keep Hoffman - trade Strahm - Best reliever to target... Mason Miller- team him up with R. Clemens he will be elite (you know Roger is looking in on Phillies bullpens). Estavez,, Kerkring and Alvarado I would hold until trade. The Phillies spent a lot of time searching for 4-5 starters and should have made a better bull pen. Best of Luck
I think Mariano Rivera is available. Unfortunately, the Phils can't get every name player thats out there. How about they develop some players in the minor leagues
Both should go. Terrible. This team needs a partial rebuild Sorry. Not working out Foolish to think a bullpen tweek And utility outfielder is going to get a WS win
Phillies had no bullpen period!!..they have MLB community scratching there HEADS..should be world series bound!!...needs dawg closers..in bullpen..GM knows!!
Here's a great Joke on why the Phillies lose in the playoffs year after year, WHY WERE THE PHILLES ALWAYS SO TIRED IN THE PLAYS---- THEY WERE HITTING THE WRONG BALLS!!!! HAHAHAHA!!!!!! Coach Thompson has to learn how to rest these guys.
Need to Dump Topper he sucks ,Long should have been Long gone ,Turner, marsh, stott ,bohm .need to be gone for starters ,BP needs to be gutted too, starting with cawthan !

Does anyone remember Rojas hitting a bomb off Estevez when we played the Angels? Still wondering why they got him... he's not that great.
Shitting on estevez and Rojas now huh?
God I can’t stand Phillies fans because if we don’t play like babe Ruth and Randy Johnson we hate the team

Keep one of them (or both if the price is right), but definitely target Tanner Scott. Can't just run it back. Get Tanner Scott.

Thomas is the bat I wanted
That’s because we have a panicking Mgr….not shrewd, and a go get em’boys attitude..You’ll see the difference when we get a real manager..
Can we get trevor pitcher in offseason. His 🔥 may be what the teams needs
Hitting coach should go. His approach in the playoffs just doesn't work. He proved that when he was with the Yankees
Sorry for being off topic, but gimme Anthony Santander
Mason Miller would be an awesome acquisition... but I doubt it'll happen. Same with Crochet for a SP. doubt it'll happen tho...
The white sox wanted Painter straight up I think
"Marsh market will be strong"?????????????? You are kidding, right?
I swear if we get rid of castellanos after him and Harper were the only hitters to show up I will be angry
Matt Strahm -- zero putaway pitch.
estevez is Mitch Williams 2.0. No way do I want to see him back
FIRE ROB, Make Paco Manager and let him bring in his guys

So you see Hoffman load the bases to set up for Lindor’s granny, AND you see him give up several hits in the game prior…but we should keep him? 🤔
Mason Miller will cost the entire farm. Go get relievers that can get outs in the playoffs. Ryan Presley & Tanner Scott
I think Mariano Rivera is available. Unfortunately, the Phils can't get every name player thats out there. How about they develop some players in the minor leagues
Strahm just got a deal
Yes, the bullpen wasnt good, but face it, the offense put up 3 runs in the last 2 games in NY.
they all gotta go
Jose, strahm and hoffy will be back Orion needs to get a third pitch
Can’t hit, bullpen sucks, coaching sucks, I blame Dave Dombrowski!
The Phillies gotta make big changes, They need more better players 😔😔
More better? 😅
Time for the manager to go
Both should go. Terrible.

Sorry.
Not working out

Break up the day care
fire kevin long
I would bring back Jeff Hoffman , Let Estevez go. Sign Presley or Tanner Scott
Trade bohm, strahm, marsh immediately
if you're from philly area please vote trump
humanity depends on your vote
yeah, Im going to take my political advice from Travis Bickle lol
Need to Dump Topper he sucks ,Long should have been Long gone ,Turner, marsh, stott ,bohm .need to be gone for starters ,BP needs to be gutted too, starting with cawthan !
Lose Alvarado
Get rid of that High School catcher. The bullpen was fine when Realumto was out.
