Honestly...the therapist is a liar because there are ways to make people talk. But it might be best to ask your intuition and trust it about the situation. Sometimes you don't get an apology and honestly sorrys are just words and most of the time they're shit to hear from people who have really hurt you. Sometimes the best apology is where those liars, cheaters or narcs leave you alone and can't hurt you anymore.
