I now have a new Bichon, got him when he was 4 months old. Congratulations on getting a new pup. If it is less than 1 year old you should NOT be home cooking!!! These are critical months of your pups life where he will grow exponentially and if you don’t know exactly what to do you can do damage to your dogs bones and overall health. I did formulate a puppy recipe but it was too challenging to find fresh spleen and I did not want to do oysters, so I started him on Steves Real food which is all age appropriate. It comes in Raw frozen and freeze dried raw. I do the freeze dried raw. My pup is now 19 months and I keep trying to find a new brand to rotate in but I just can not find another brand that meets all my expectations like Steves Real food does. You are such a great Mom to Bella. I just started following you so I can pick up tips from a pro. I have 3 shih-tzus. They are the babies of the house. Everybody absolutely adores our little fur-babies here. 🥰
Oh, you have a full house! I would love to get another bichon but Bella will not allow it. She was so happy when my other Bichon went to the Rainbow bridge and I also fostered a bichon and OMG she was extremely upset, would not eat with the family, would not sniff her favorite flowers and got an ear infection because she was so STRESSED OUT so her immune system went down. It is ridiculous. Diva Dog to the max!
Bella is precious. She's such a lady when she eats unlike my Brooklyn! She has to have a slow feeder. You know what's funny I elevated her bowl for months for the same reason acid reflux but I read somewhere it wasn't proven to help. So I thought I would try feeding her without it and surprisingly so far she hasn't had any issues with acid reflux. But I'm a strong believer in doing what works best for your dog, they are all different. I need to try that mushroom supplement. Tfs, Kay & Brooklyn
You're an awesome dog mom! Have you used Dr Harvey's Golden Years? I have 2 older dogs and was thinking about trying it, but not sure they would like the taste.
No i have not used Dr Harveys Golden Years. I like the ingredients in Solaris much better since they have several mushrooms and more and more research has been done how mushrooms are so good for humans and dogs to help fight disease.
