The girls got them to clap because it was part of their choreography during Kendall's little solo to get everyone to clap. They've done it every time they've performed it. But I do agree that everyone was off beat and it was unnecessary.

Originally when the tour was planned Nia and jojo weren't put in unfortunately. Dance moms wasn't supposed to be filming the tour but they ended up doing so, and so Nia and jojo had to come. They weren't added to the tour even then.
