I too LOVED Sorcerer. It's actually a masterpiece. To even imagine doing such a mammoth production blows me away. Makes Fitzcarraldo look like a school play.
He's not wrong, he's just humble in that way. I agree with your opinion on Friedkin, but compliments like that are for fans to say not him. If a director said that about himself or his own work, he'd sound like a clown.
Just think even Cubby Broccoli offered William Friedkin to direct a James Bod film Probably Diamonds Are Forever which wasn't the best could of been better if he directed it, though doing The French Connection which both were made in 1971 came up as one of the greatest gritty thrillers. I seen it many times Gene Hackman Roy Scheider two tough cops beating the hell of those guys. Then Sorcerer a tough gritty film. W. Friedkin knew how to keep suspense going he once said 'i know how to give the audiences 1 and 1/2 hours packed with a real thrill' RIP Mr Friedkin.

I just love Wm. Friedkin. I'm always fascinated by his stories. Love his wit and humor. He looks so handsome still. Amazing man.
Great director, great conversationalist. Terrific interview, thank you.
Great storyteller; on screen and in person.
Very sad news yesterday about his passing.
RIP William Friedkin
He's wrong, he is 100% an artist. Those movies didn't get made without him molding them into his vision.
Indeed. Well put
