I’m specifically talking about episode 6 PREVENTION THROUGH DETERRENCE. . Policy in 1994 shows that there was a “prevention through deterrence” clause that actually stated migrant deaths should help deter migrants crossing. This was used against Mexicans. I’m also talking about the way border patrol officers pour out water left for people so they die on the border. All of the people in that show are from Latin America if not Mexico which is very different from the show Living Undocumented (they were from all over). & the episode were they needed help w workers rights was also mostly Mexican people. Also just calling someone ignorant doesn’t make what u said any smarter it’s a cop out way of not having to explain ur views or articulate yourself 😂

My take on the song/video... it’s not about Justin. The whole song and video show her talking to herself. The toxic love she accepted, the lack of respect she had for herself. For example she says “you didn’t know how to value me” she’s saying this to her past self hence her being in the mirror and sitting on the tub simultaneously, when she says time with you has cut my wings in her past she has lost herself in all her relationships and tended to live in the sadness... she no longer does this. She’s saying she will never go back to her old self or old ways. That’s the reason we see two of her throughout. She’s basically showing her past self what she has overcome and her what her worth always was. We are doing her a disservice by constantly connecting her to him. It’s also worth noting she has been very vocal ab her heritage. She recorded songs in Spanish from 2009-2011 and was working on a full Spanish album in 2012 which her former label would not let her release. Her being proud of her heritage is nothing new.
This was more like a pre-single, an introduction of what this next era is gonna be like, and there are theories that this song is the opning track for the upcoming album, that's why it's so short and simple

I personally love this, my baby loves Spanish music. None of us are Spanish but we definitely want to learn now because of all the amazing music and inspiring latin cultures.

Bebecitos, I saw somewhere she’s been wanting to do a Spanish record since 2011, but I’m guessing since she’s been through a lot (physical, mentally, spiritually talking) it was delayed. With family in the diaspora I can say that they’re proud of our Puerto Rican root but it’s difficult to communicate talking Spanish. I can assume that for her it’s kinda the same way, since she needed to overcome a lot of insecurity issues and get her mental health in good shape. At the end of the song says that the copyright of the song is Selena’s under exclusive license of her label, so maybe now she owns her work and can experiment more. 🤷🏻♀️
