    Good to see you back Richard and totally understandable you have had other commitments. I have one of these and found the same as regards tweaking the Ballistic Calculator. Although all the details were entered correctly when shooting over my 30 yard zero too much hold over. For example going for Rabbits at 40 to 45 yards the pellets flying way over the head. I found the easiest way to get it right was to adjust the scope height even though I thought I did have the correct scope height. No problem now and I have it working well and such a great asset to have an inbuilt range finder and BC for my night Rabbit shooting.

      Yes, it's not quite an exact science is it? The setting up I mean. But a little time spent on the range and it's soon dialled in. Works great too!

    I've got the DS 35-50, and have owned (and still own) quite a lot of other brands like HIKMICRO and ATN, but this little kit is such a good scope, that I'm planning to sell all my other scopes and buy 3 more for all my hunting rifles (airguns and boomsticks). Excellent shooting, great review. Cheers mate.

    Hi ! What is that loud noise in the first 2 or 3 shots, i used to her the same thing on the older Pards ?

      Hi. I believe it is due to the battery being almost flat as it disappeared as soon as I changed it.

    Great video Richard and good to have you back. I am in the market for a night vision scope for my air rifle & was wondering if the Ballistic Calculator on the DS35 takes the angle you are shooting at into consideration? I shoot a lot of birds and the angle makes so much difference to hold under/over points. 🍻

    • @alphamilitaria2756
      @alphamilitaria2756  Год назад

      Hi Paul. Yes, its been a while, but we have a few reviews in the pipeline, including the new Gen 2 versions of the DS35. As to whether the the calculator compensates for angle of elevation, I can't honestly say for sure (perhaps someone who does will jump on). However, the display does indicate angle of elevation (and cant) so I'd like to think that they do. If I find out definitively I'll let you know. Thanks for watching.

    That does seem to be a really good scope, and a very good user review as well. Thanks for not trying to make it a technical, "how to" review. As you say, there are other videos for that. Cheers from Texas.

    Nice review, as always. I use an NV008S LRF and would agree that the rangefinder is pretty much essential at night for anything other than short range ratting. These new DS series scopes are a fair bit bigger and heavier for essentially the same functionality, but I guess using conventional tube mounts would potentially be a more stable setup (not that I've noticed any problems with the odd mounting with the 008)? One minor irritation is having to go into the menus to manually turn the screen brightness up/down when switching between day & night modes - I guess this may be the same on the DS series? It would be great for it to hold a separate value for each mode.

    • @alphamilitaria2756
      @alphamilitaria2756  Год назад

      Thanks very much. Yes, I'm a huge fan of the NV008 as well. I think the DS35 will appeal more to those who want to use a sporter style rifle rather than a bullpup/tactical. The review unit has gone back now (😪) but I'm pretty sure I recall that you can swap between day and night modes using the main buttons...But I'm happy to be corrected if my recollection is incorrect. Thanks for watching.

    • @btbplanevids
      @btbplanevids Год назад

      @@alphamilitaria2756 yes, there's a button to swap between day/night mode on the 008 too. But I need the screen brightness set much lower in the dark, and this involves going through the menus to change it every time I go into night mode (then again to turn it back up when I next use day mode). It would be better if a brightness setting was held separately for each mode - only a small thing, but would make life a little easier 🙂

      Hi Justin and thanks. That's a tough one as I have been using both just recently. I'd say the Hik probably has the edge on image quality at night, but fractionally. However, the range finder / BC is a real plus for the Pard.

    • @alphamilitaria2756
      @alphamilitaria2756  Год назад +1

      They are pretty similar in my experience. I think if I was looking to use a rifle I'd go with the DS35 70 LRF but would choose an NV008S LRF for a tactical style rifle.
