Thank you very much for the video, I was at the cathedral last winter and I hadn't noticed the amount of detail in it, thank you very much for filming it!
One of my 10X -I think-great uncle is buried in the poets corner in Westminster cathedral. He was a pastor elsewhere and then he came to work at Westminster. I have a picture of his signature! He passed in/or about 1620. I hope to visit there sooner than later.
Never heard of here before. What a stunning building. The mosaics are so beautiful. Yes it's sad about the cranes but an inevitable part of London. The views you get are so good. I wonder why it hasn't been publicized at all. It must be a well kept secret place. Does it have the beautiful old church smell of incense? I love that smell. Truly beautiful place.
What a magnificent cathedral! Is this a Catholic cathedral? Or Protestant? The mosaics are just beautiful! I can only imagine how beautiful to actually be there and look up at them. And I just love the black brick/stone above. Gives a wonderful contrast to the vivid colors in the mosaics and allows the lighting to reflect upon them. Oh my, the ceiling at 9:20 is absolutely breath taking. Yes, this is a very young building indeed sitting amongst the very old historical monuments in London. The exterior has a spectacular footprint, and the brick work is beautiful. And of course - a cafe! Nice touch. Blessings.
The black section that you mention is because the interior has never been finished. That section was designed to be lined with marble etc . When you see it in real life it does look very much unfinished. Maybe it will never be complete, who knows?
It would have been helpful if an explanation of the gloomy appearance of the main nave ceiling was because it is unfinished and intended to be covered in mosaics. There is a large artist's impression near the cathedral entrance showing the intended appearance when completed. Who knows whether it will ever be done, but there is a long history of cathedrals taking centuries to complete, so it may happen over time.
Westminster Cathedral is beautiful. The pipe organ in the Cathedral is one of the best in England.

The Cathedral is indeed a wonderful place, and the choir and organ are superb.

Now that would be some trip to take that all in! :)
I was there for Easter Sunday mass. Lovely!
I used to go and pray in the English St Georges chapel, within the abbey, on my way to work at Scotland Yard.

Yes Lesley it does have that smell! :)
Extraordinary. I've never heard of Westminster Cathedral (except for the song Westminster Cathedral 🎶)
I know, 9ne of those unknown places 👍😀
I think you mean the song Winchester Cathedral from the 1960’s?
I think you mean Winchester Cathedral
@@MichaelReilly-r7h you are correct 😅 I am wrong 😅

Hi Luana, yes a Catholic cathedral and they are just so amazing :)

@@paullewis2413 Thank you. So, it is charred or charcoaled or painted brick/stone?
@@Wisdom-Nuggets-Tid-Bits Not sure. I image it’s probably brick with plaster over then painted black.
I used to go to Vespers there
I hope someday to embark on a pilgrimage there.
The largest Catholic Cathedral in England and Wales.

Is ot free for entry
It is completely free, unless you want to go up the tower 👍
I've been there a couple of times. But I don't think I've attended a Holy Mass there.
Too bad this building is still very much incomplete as you can see by the filming of the interior.
Quite underwhelming this building
Thanks for watching
