Next 27 Jan. 2024, the near-Earth asteroid 2024 BJ will have a very close, but safe, encounter with us, coming at about 354000 km from the Earth, about 92% of the average lunar distance. The Virtual Telescope Project will show it to you live!

My astronomy background is not quite strong. My 9yr old however has been blowing my mind away with his knowledge in this field. I have been reading a book lately to him at night called "Fun Facts for Smart Kids". The first 3 chapters were about the Milky-way galaxy, The Sun & Stars. I learned quite a few things but he was already aware of the lists of facts & even went off telling me about facts that were down the list before reading them! 😂
I am curious about this video, where is this scope located & what are all the racing white dots/specs that are flying past the asteroid?
Hi, the telescope is located in Manciano, Italy and the asteroid is seen while it moves against the starry background.
