Chuck this is one of the best E-Type videos available. I've often wondered about best practices for reassembling the hood and here is everything all laid out for us, clear and simple. Really enjoying your methods and explanations too. I have to re glue my original hood in several spots were the main flanges have pulled away so this is really helpful thanks.

I have been going to the garage for the last couple of weeks to see what this order should be. I was going to start next week if it is not too cold.. You have helped a lot. I have a series one with a one and half bonnet. I have owned this since 1972. It is a late 64 with the 4.2 with the series 1.5 bonnet. I had bought the conversion from you for the headlights. It has been interesting. I was trying to be perfect with the conversion kit, but I see yours. :-) I have been working on this for months to make sure everything is perfect. Sometimes the more I work on it, the worse it gets. So I need your attitude. I do have to tell anyone reading this, This conversion was perfect. Anything messed up was from me, and not the conversion kit. This was my second XK-E. My first was a '67 I got in 1968. It was one I bought from an insurance company. It had been stolen and stripped. Now, since I have owned several of these, I have found that the factory made a lot of issues, on a lot of things. Still being, I like driving these cars, so it might be the best I can do, it will still be drivable. Good job. Thanks

very educational. I was so lucky to have bought a new factory S3 bonnet in 1980 for low factory price. about £500!!

Fabulous, thank you very much. I was thinking about how to do this without distortion or having a big mess. Now I have a solid base to practice a little and finally make it! Merci beaucoup.

Really great video and I wish that I had seen this 6 months ago. But I'm pretty gratified because the plan of attack that I finally worked out and what you show in your video are almost identical (but I went through about 30 pair of gloves). I used Sikaflex 221 which I think is close to what was used at new construction. Again - really great video! Thanks for sharing.

Lol. Slow and steady never wins the race. It always finishes the race, but never wins. 😄
    Nice work.
Ever used the 3m Epoxy panel bonding adhesive? It’s really good, but it’s probably not as flexible as that Polyurethane you’re using which is probably necessary.

Chuck, excellent videos, I am very grateful to you. I had a question for you. 3M 4200 v seam sealer (Tiger or Upol) v Panel bond. What is the problem with normal over paintable seam sealer? Please let me know!

Interesting video! I'm curious, why are you using etch primer under epoxy? I've always been told to use one or the other, but not both. I've even witnessed paint failures from doing so. Here's a quote from PPG website: "Did you know? It is no longer recommended to use an etch primer under an epoxy primer. Residual acid from the etch primer can interfere with the proper curing of the epoxy. This may lead to extended dry times, potential blistering, and even adhesion failure." Just wondering what benefit you find from using both products together.

Chuck this is awesome timing for me as I’m at that point with my bonnet, but I’ll be buying two more fresh tubes of the 4200. Question would the infrared heater that I use for painting be advised? Thanks for the secrets greatly appreciated. Cheers 🍻 John.
I’ll be tackling the wheel well damage tomorrow.

I doubt I will ever do this, but a very interesting video, would you recommend this adhesive as a panel sealer ?
