These are the best climbing videos on youtube, and they just keep getting better every time. Awesome steep climbing, a proper adventure, beautiful scenery, and some cool history as well- what more could you want? Gets me so stoked to get out and have adventures of my own
Thanks so much for the amazing comment 🥰 Genuinely feels so good to know that my films are connecting with people and inspiring them to have adventures 🧗♀️ ⛵️
Different class this mate. Chills when I watched the intro, something about these islands have captivated me since I first heard about them one morning after a wake and bake many years ago.
This was epic and one of the coolest climbing videos I've seen. The back story made it so much more meaningful and interesting I really appreciate you sharing this. So cool and impressive all the way around sir.
Thanks so much for the lovely comment. You’re spot on, the story of the St kildans made it a lot more powerful. I felt very privileged to have the opportunity to share this story :)
So beautiful to see the exploration of history, culture and ancestry of place along with the adventure of climbing. Thanks for a great film Robbie and team!
About half way through and watching the rest tonight! Superb video. A lot of climbing videos seems to show other countries beauty, so brilliant to see Scotland, even this remote showing how special it is. Great work 🧗
Wow Robbie - what a film. This is so inspiring, and so well put together. Not only was your climb an incredible physical/logistical achievement, but also a wonderful way of spreading the history of the area and the people who lived there. As per usual for your longer form content, the filmmaking is a cut above the rest as well. Cheers for putting such a great film out for free on youtube, and for inspiring so much stoke in the new year!
Cheers mate! Appreciate the comment - it’s a trip of a lifetime and an amazing opportunity to tell an incredible story, I was really honoured to have such a chance 😊
What an adventure! Thank you for sharing this. Brilliant to watch the climbing, the laughter and the location. Without films like your’s most of us will never see these unique locations.
I thought just the combo of sailing to the cliff to climb was rad as it’s a dream of mine. The wild fa the history style and presentation are absolutely epic and first class. Well done men .
I've been following your videos since the beginning. They've always been fun and real but you've managed to improve the production values incomparably without losing any of the genuine feel. Great, well done!
Beautiful work Robbie. I really admire your passion and enduring commitment to bring these adventures to an audience whom will most likely never be able to accomplish such feats. Thank you for reconnecting us to our land through your expertise and hard work. Props to your crew and the skipper, what a legend. Keep showcasing Scotland for the absolute garden of earthly delights that it is!
Thanks so much for the lovely comment :) I am trying to keep the spirit of adventure in climbing alive through these videos. And of course I love sharing the magic of Scotland!
Your ground up onsight style is so refreshing. Free climb as much as possible and get to the top! I think you did an amazing job capturing the spirit of what drew me and many others to the sport. Cheers from Wisconsin USA!
That's funny you said that... I talk a bit about "Spirit" in my recent lectures. It's something which I think every "lifer" climber knows and understands at a really internal level. I call it the "Spirit of climbing", a combination of Challenge, Adventure, Creativity, Culture and History. I am still exploring more of this idea but would be interested to hear what you think?
Mate incredible video. I'm getting a little emotional at work watching it. It almost didn't look real with you climbing past the bird mess at 43:41. Keep up the great work
Having sailed my small yacht,Mwera, out to St Kildale in May this year, I can identify with how moved you were by the history of the people who lived there. It is a magical place to visit, and your captain was a lot braver with his inflatable than I would be, but that made your adventure possible. Great story and great filming in a challenging environment. Thanks
Bleddy awesome! Always wanted to visit St Kilda and this film has only stoked that desire more - that wall!!! An amazing effort from the whole team and reinforces that you don't need to travel to some far flung corner of the world for true adventure. So inspiring, thanks all :)
Thanks so much man for the comment! It's true, you don't need to jump on a plane - we have it here in the British isles! I can't wait until spring arrives, I just wanna go explore more of the incredible places we have here :D
@@RobbiePhillips so true and yes I'm psyched for Spring too! Climbing nowhere near your grade but if you're ever looking someone to explore stuff with/arty collab. down Cornwall way then let me know! ;)
Brave lads!! Climbers are crazy!! 😂 Also VERY cool to see Scott Johnston do his thing, not sure what was the hardest, manouvering that dinghy so close to the rocks or finding that weather window this summer.
This is the kind of climbing video I like to see. Very good quality. You guys did put a lot of work into this video. Some more Nature shots would have been great as this environment is so different to what I am used to. Also amazing to still se someone not use some clickbait in the title. With evereyone else it had to be something like: Climbing the hardest most remote Seastack in Europe
Haha well maybe complain to the camera guys, I used every nature shot I had :P To be honest with you, there was very little nature we could capture... we were climbing outside of the major bird nesting season (on purpose), so there were not many birds on the cliffs... just a few fulmars here and there. Gannets are on Boreray and Stac an Armin/Stac Lee, not where we were. There were no seals that we could see... I was on Pabbay this September and we got lots of seal footage, so you can look forward to that film in 2025 :) We did get some footage of the Soay sheep though, so that was cool. Re clickbait... well, it works! I don't have a problem with clickbait if it spells out whats in the film. I just don't like it when it's bending the truth, or just a plain lie. I try and make sure the title and thumbnail combined give a good illustration of what to expect, and ultimately I want as many people to see this film as possible, so if I have to use a wee bit clickbait, I will.
Super film Robbie! Credit to you and a strong team of comrades. Mind on meeting you on Hoy sometime last year and you were planning this great adventure inspired by the old St Kilda writings - happy to see that the ambitions and dreams have been more than realised!
Fantastic film. The story telling and narrative was spot on. Send it to BBC Scotland - they should give you a job. Well done to you and the whole team. Stunning effort.
Ace! What a place and what an amazing bit of history. Still thinking about those horsehair ropes 🤔 That wall looks amazing for climbing even if it is a bit chossy. It must feel so wild
HAHA! Thanks a lot man, high praise! A landing area...? WHat do you mean? There's a wee spot you can jump onto as seen in the film, but below the first climb is a sheer cliff
