    I have a nelco branded Japanese Singer 15 clone that sews well, but needs TLC and tension is wonky. Your videos have saved the day. I finally figured out that it was a clone machine of a 15 and your videos on Ike have been great. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

      For the nice comment, I'm so happy you found my videos for Ike. I've never seen the clone machines but have had a number of viewers. Tell me that the parts are identical. I also meant a retired singer repairman who told me that the United States the patent for a couple of singer models to the Japanese after world war II to help rebuild their economy. So I guess they really are clones. Good luck with your machine and thanks again for the nice comment

    So interesting to watch your videos. Your presentations are clear and easy to follow. And the voice of experience is much appreciated…..like covering the wet parts with the mesh colander before using the blow dryer! That’s an important tip! Thank you!

      thank you very much, Marilyn. You can tell I was sad about losing that tiny screw. I had to buy a new tension assembly back then for $20, so lesson learned. Thanks for watching my videos and take care.

    Dear Andy, I just found your channel:) Wow you are truly an expert and such a great teacher. I am so excited to watch all of your videos. I just purchased a 221 this week, so I have a lot of learning to do. So thankful to find you, thank you for giving your time to teach others. Of course now I realize I am on the wrong video for my machine (lol), but I still learned a lot. I did not know how to wind a bobbin and now I feel confident to do so. Thank you again:)

    Oh boy, is Terry McClean ever right! The bobbin winder system is not intuitive. Smugly, I thought how hard could this be to reassemble? Impossible for me! I’m putting all the cleaned parts away and walking away from it until I see your Part Two. Well, at least it’s nice to have all the parts cleaned and ready to go. Thank you, Andy, once again, for such a thorough video.

      I can't get mine back together 😯 Just kidding. I took a ton of pictures so I have it back together. Just recording the tension disc assembly and the adjustments for part 2. Hope to upload it by Saturday. Thanks for watching.

    To me there is nothing intuitive about this assembly, I've done it few times and it has always been a struggle. It'll be so good to have your video reference. Thanks. Is that a new screwdriver I see being used?

    • @andytubesewing1953
      @andytubesewing1953  2 года назад

      Agree. I took about 15 pictures while removing the parts b/c I knew I'd never get it back together, haha. The screwdriver is new to my channel, but I've had it for 20 years. A Husky Stubby Mini Ratchet Screwdriver from Home Depot.

    The stop latch on my machine is very hard to press down, how do I adjust it?

    • @andytubesewing1953
      @andytubesewing1953  Месяц назад

      I made these two videos to show how to clean and adjust. The parts are usually out of adjustment but work in unison with the other parts, too, so that's why I show remove & replace. In the desciption area of the video it show the chapters and what they will cover. For example, in this video (part one), I show removing the latch starting at 37:15.
      In the second video ( ruclips.net/video/g1cPODqkiwM/видео.html ) I show installing the latch at 01:50

    Hello. I have a singer 15-90. Can this video help me with cleaning the bobbin winding system?

    • @andytubesewing1953
      @andytubesewing1953  Год назад +1

      Hi. I've never seen or worked on a 15-90. I tried comparing parts and parts numbers between the two models by looking at manuals. The main (bigger) parts have the name part number on both models. The other parts look similar or the same but have slightly different parts numbers. That may indicate a size difference, like a spring on your machine is smaller or slightly different than on my machine. I think you'd be fine, but only you have the 15-90 and can see if the parts are similar enough to use the video. I guess you could always start and if you found something too different just stop there and reassemble. Thanks for watching my channel, and good luck.

      They are the same. 15 91 has built in motor, 15 90 external motor, 15 89 hand crank, 15 88 treadle or external motor.

      In the 50s the Japanese started making the 15 90 but they added improvements like the feed dogs lowering knob. Later Chinese models look the same but the quality of the metal is lower and they are noisier. You can find videos of them still being made from scratch in Pakistan these days.

    Love your videos! I have a 201-2 with a non-working bobbin winder. It seems to me to be exactly the same bobbin winder as the 15-91. Is that correct? Working up the nerve to take it apart and fix it after watching your video. Both models have the potted motor.

    • @andytubesewing1953
      @andytubesewing1953  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching my channel and I appreciate your comment, Linda. I agree. Although I have never worked on the 201-2 I do have the parts list and all the part numbers on your machine, except one spring, have the same numbers as the 15-91. The spring in question is the two-tailed spring. The pictures of the two springs are the same on both models, so there is probably only a slight difference in the spring, like a longer tail or something. I do believe my video would be a good guide for you to follow as you work on your 201-2. Good luck, and please stop by anytime.
