  • In this week's photography tutorial I take the Hasselblad 907X and a single 55mm lens to the wild island of Kerrera off the West coast of Scotland. I show how I find compositions and work with difficult conditions to take landscape and travel photos that I'm really pleased with.
    I wrote a longer piece on CNET about why I love this camera so much, despite its various drawbacks, so if you're interested in reading that then here's the link: www.cnet.com/t...

    Appreciation of an image is subjective. I liked them and would have been very happy had I taken them. Cheers.

      Thanks Ken, that's very kind! I don't dislike any of them and I'm really pleased with the selection I came away with, despite the mixed conditions.

    Lovely images! Good work for only a day and a half on the island. Man, I just love the 4:5 aspect ratio. The color and sharpness of the Hasselblad is pretty special too. Are you reviewing this camera or did you add a medium format to your arsenal?

      Thanks so much! Sadly it was just on loan while I tested it for CNET and it's now gone back, never to be seen again! It's such a lovely camera though and I'd dearly love to have one. Bit too pricey for me I'm afraid!

    Easily the best photography channel on RUclips that I know of. Ive struggled with reigniting my passion for photography, and tend to skip every photography related notification I get at the moment. Your channel is an exception, however. Always such laid back, no BS videos that make me remember why photography is so great. Cheers for the content

      Thanks so much, Ben, that genuinely means a huge amount. It's such a huge amount of effort to produce videos for almost zero payoff and I often find my passion for it waning but I have to remember that I truly love photography in all its forms and I always hope that comes across.

    Walking around with just one prime lens and the camera is my favorite way to go out for a photo walk.

      There's something so much more freeing about only thinking about the subjects, not thinking about what gear to use. Makes a big difference not being overburdened with stuff.

    You are doing a great job with that Hassy, if you haven't purshased it yet, i think you should. It suits you well and you are doing a great job with it.

    You're a wizard, Andrew. I like the way you are not stuck in a box.
    I would like to see you do a walk about with the Nikon Zf. It has a dedicated mono switch. I assume the photos will get imported in mono raw.

    Andrew, do you not miss a view finder?

    • @AndrewLanxonPhotography
      @AndrewLanxonPhotography  3 месяца назад

      Sometimes. I’ve mostly got used to it simply because I shoot video of my process and that’s best if I can video the back of the camera so everyone can see my composition and settings. As a result, it’s just become the normal way of working for me. Similarly, my Sony RX1 that I use for a lot of street photography doesn’t even have a viewfinder, so I work much more in a ‘shoot from the hip’ fashion. I’m not saying it’s a better or worse way to work, it’s just what I’ve got used to.
