You legit have the perfect custom exhaust I’ve heard from this platform. Very good job sir. I plan on copying you spec by spec
Keep in mind that you're going to have drone. But it's definitely the best sounding 3.0T setup if you're running test pipes or gutted cats.
@@S4RCSTC if you can do anything over, what would it be; specifically to get rid of the drone?
@@kstuckey8 I have to add a jpipe or helmhotz resonator to kill the drone so nothing different. I'd also maybe go 2.5 inch all the way instead of 3 after the downpipe section. Not sure what that would do to the tone though... Probably not much.
@@S4RCSTC got you. Keeping it 2.5 all around does seem like less of a hassle as well. I’m guessing you’ll add the j pipe where the suitcase resonator was?
@@kstuckey8 because I went 3 inch after the downpipes there isn't a lot of room. I'd put them where the stock mufflers go.
Finally an exhaust that sounds good. Everyone does the resonator delete and they literally sound like a civic. Good shit on this.
The welding work and materials used looks top notch. The more I play around with metals and exhaust, I find more quality metals and work tend to sound better.
probably the best sounding s4 I've heard.
Thanks! As long as you don't mind drone.
@@S4RCSTC that's what stereos are for.
Please post more flybys and launches. I think all of us want to hear this exhaust at redline! Thank you :)
Check out the other video. Flyby in that one.
Best sound ive heard on here buddy but its all trial n error on my s4 b6 cab, my end result is … replaced with stainless, oem size 2.25” then replaced secondary cats with 200’s,replaced resonator with custom short res x2 (reduce drone) then back box delete .. 3” quad tips with custom diffuser to finish.
Dont sound as sharp as yours but mines 4.2ltr V8 v your V6 3ltr turbo so with that whine yours is just bloody nice bro.
Tried bigger pipes but didnt feel it was running right, spoke with buddy n he said best go back to oem pipe size 2.25” .. did it and ran much better … did a res delete but drone was ouch so buddy made a reduced pair for me, great job too, did a secondary cat delete but didnt sound right so had pair 200’s fitted and wow what a difference …
Also own a A4 b6 cab 3ltr petrol, had all cats changed for 200’s then straight through with 2.5” stainless and it sounds SO BAD, ive gotta try a pair of back boxes first, hopefully calm it down if not a pair of cust resonators fitted this has a quad set of 4” tail pipes to finish but pennies only go so far, the ones i tell the Wife about anyways haha …
This is the best sounding custom setup avail imo - Nice work brother! Will try to replicate this and give u a shout out when done 👊😁👊S4Life ⭐️🙏
Right on! Prepare for drone. May build 40 inch adjustable jpipes to cancel it.
@@S4RCSTC Yea its tough to find the right setup. So much trial and error to keep drone and rasp down while maintaining a crisp aggressive tone. Appreciate the info.
Thanks for this man. I have a custom setup that I just did on my B8.5 S5 and theres SOOOO much drone, also getting a bad vibration right around 2k after the did the install so taking it back to get that sorted. But what I need are those ultra quiet mufflers, figured I'd need mufflers to get rid of that awefull drone.
I get drone with this setup but it sounds amazing. No rasp.
@@S4RCSTC Notice any vibration at all? Im wondering if its just install from the shop
Already had it back once, still got this bad vibration right before 2k rpm. It sounds good but the vibration almost have me wanting to go back to stock. I might just try somewhere else cause its fairly annoying.
@@FociPoint I had some when turning left because the section after the downpipes is 3 inch and would touch. Getting that fixed now.
Sounds great bro
I have AWE touring exhaust with non res dowpipes. By far gutted cats sounds soooooo much better than any test pipes. I plan on going this route with added vibrant ultra quiet resonators at the bottom of my downpipes
This is the absolute best sounding exhaust ive heard on these. What is the exact setup?
I put it in the description
Sounds really good actually nice n smooth
Just did this exact set up and the I absolutely love it, however there is an INSANE amount of drone. Did you ever figure anything out to combat the drone? It almost makes it undriveable 😅
I have something close but I'm running cende rear mufflers with the butterfly valve its not as loud but I don't get that drone. You can also do what I had before where I had stock rear mufflers and a Y pipe with a cutout right behind the rear axles
Hi there! She sounds lovely here! I currently have the test pipes and magna flow 1138 x-pipe. I was wondering if there’s been any updates you done recently to the exhaust to minimize the remaining drone? TIA!
Thanks! Changed out the magnaflow for the borla due to failure. No drone reduction project happening... I don't daily so I deal with it.
This sounds amazing. Kind of similar to a few parts I have. However, what exhaust tips are those?
Ooo that's a nice one
Did you end up running 02 spacers or delete them entirely and juat use a test pipe ecu file?
This sounds so awesome! I would love to hear it without the bottle resonators and see what the difference is...you don't happen to have a video of that do you? Or the same set up minus the magnaflow?
We tried bottles straight piped back to ultra quiets and it was insanely loud and sounded like Satan's trombone. Added the Magnaflow and it's butter. The bottles cut the rasp if you have gutted cats or test pipes.
@@S4RCSTC do you happen to have a video of the trombone? Lol
Lol yeah. DM me on IG: s4rcstc
A rusty trombone
I hear rasp but not the bad annoying one that ppl usually dont want. But I hear a slight rasp when they revved it, just in the beginning but it quickly goes away, a video with a 1-2 gear pull inside & outside the car would be great.
Honestly the only good sounding catless 3.0TFSI I've heard.
do you recon the stock mufflers would do work against that drone vs the ultra quiets you have installed, or do they tend to mess with the exhaust note too much?
I had gutted cats, Magnaflow resonated xpipe and stock mufflers before. No drone because stocks have helmhotz built in. Still raspy and quieter than I wanted.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Sounds super good! Just bought an sq5 and looking for this same sound you have stock test pipes and the non resonated downpipes to the magna flow and vibrant resonators to muffler or resonated tips?
It goes gutted cats>vibrant bottles and Magnaflow resonated xpipe on the downpipes>back to the Vibrant ultra quiets
@@S4RCSTC how bad is the drone? On a scale of 1-10. I know drone is subjective but just wanted to hear your input. It’s not over bearing is it? Like the way your setup sounds.
It’s actually kind of loud from the interior during light-moderate acceleration for my taste and thats with cats still on but the 034 tune does aggressively keep the rpms down and load the engine more. Deeeep sound near idle and sounds great from the outside at wot. Going test pipes in a week or two, i think im going to end up with the awe touring but leave the magnaflow still on depending on how much the test pipes adjust the sound. Thoughts anyone?
How is the magnaflow holding up? I heard from guys that the packing gets blown out after a while and to go with borla instead
Holding up fine. Still sounds great. Check the latest vid I put up from a track event and catch some drive-by’s.
@@S4RCSTC thanks for the reply I see that you say it drones on a scale 1-10 how badly on the freeway? I’m trying to run race pipes>magnaflow 11386>awe touring
Hi Could you specify what vibrant bottles you linked to your cats and the straight pipes as well as the ultra vibrant quiet mufflers I can't seem to find them. If you can provide a link or a specify product no. That would be great. I appreciate this video a lot. Thanks
I added Amazon links in the description
Thanks bro
The “wobble” at idle is the sickest I’ve heard for this car.. as far as mods go $1000 is nothing either nice work man..
notice any power increase?
Any codes thrown?
I love that sound fo sho. Power increase isn't going to come from the exhaust on this platform. No codes. Running spacers on the gutted cats.
This is why electric “cars” will never be ok.
Are all 4 cats gone? I’m guessing you have the primaries gutted instead of test pipes that you have catless downpipes? Lmk thanks!
There are only 2 cats which were gutted.
The car sounds nasty. Are you using a custom downpipe? Also what kind of pipes you use? What the size?
Customized the stock downpipes. Vibrant bottles then a Magnaflow resonated xpipe in the downpipe section.
@@S4RCSTC thanks man.
Sounds insanely sexy. I gotta 15 s4 Dual Pulley with Uni. Just gutted my cats and it sounds like a lawn mower. Ricey.
So basically. After the gutted cats you got 2 vibrant resonators then the magnaflow X pipe res. Then back to the vibrants resonators? So you got 4 baby resis and one xpipe/res right?
Vibrant bottles and a Magnaflow resonated xpipe in the downpipe section. Vibrant ultra quiets where the mufflers go. Drone present but zero rasp.
@@S4RCSTC thanks man. Appreciate it
Nice sound what year is this s4 ? n any engine lights after u replaced ur cat w vibrant bottles?
2013. Cats are gutted with O2 spacers so no CELs. Bottles are placed on the downpipes.
So do you have stock down pipes or straight pipes on this setup? If I’m correct you have gutted cats>stock down pipes>vibrant 1792 bottle>magnaflow 11386 x pipe>3 in straight pipe>vibrant 1142 unreal quiet 3 in
The downpipe section was modified with Vibrant bottles right after the cats and then the magnaflow xpipe.
bruh our cars are identical i think we got the same wheels and i got racks that look just like yours lmfao mine is an a4 tho
Go check my insta... Made some changes to the wheels. Lemme know what you think. s4rcstc
Do you need to gut the cats to get the 'no rasp' sound? Also what tips did you go with (size and manufacturer)? Thanks
No. Rasp is a side effect of gutted cats or test pipes. Not sure the tip brand. My fabricator built them.
Did you keep the flex pipes or delete them? About to copy this exact same setup in my sq5 with canauto test pipes.
Yes but we're replacing the stock flex pipe now because one of the stock ones sprung a leak
hey @rybass4 did you ever figure out a way to kill the drone?
I know how to but not doing anything about it at the moment.
I’m going test pipes but would like a little less volume. I’m going to shoot for:
Test pipes>stock baby res>MAGNA 11386>vibrant ultra> stock mufflers. Do you think there is space to add the ultra quiets ?
Never heard that setup but I think it'll be too super quiet with no rasp. If you're leaving the stock mufflers no need for Ultra Quiets IMO
@@S4RCSTC Well I am trying to avoid any rasp/ drone at all. I am coming from a stock 350z and I thought the exhaust note on that car was stellar even though probably was super quiet. Yours sound superb, but you mentioned somewhere you were getting slight drone? which is a no no for the me and the "family ride" lol thanks for response
@@christos8189 oh yeah I drone. I didn't when I had gutted cats>baby resonators deleted>Magnaflow resonated xpipe on the downpipes>deleted big resonator>stock mufflers. Leaving the babies would cut rasp and the stock mufflers have helmhotz built in to cut drone.
@@S4RCSTC hi, i have the S4 b6 cab, ive got custom stainless 2.25” catback with individual resonators but muffler delete plus quad 3” tips … sounds good but was thinking to either gut secondary cats or replace with pair of 400 T304 stainless, any suggestions please ?
Can you link what you purchased?
Added product links in the description
How hard was it to gut the cats?
Harder than herding actual cats
Do you think that the same setup would have a similar sound/outcome on a Audi A4 b8 rather than an s4
Totally different engine so not likely
Any updates on the exhaust?
do you have any vids or sound clips with this setup at high RPM?
I should do that
What roughly was the price tag with install on a setup like this ?
$1000-$1500 I would guess
Any pics of this set up...ty
At the end of the video
Was this cheaper than a normal full catback system?
About $1000 parts and labor
How has the xpipe held up? I heard they blow the internals after a short period of time
Still holding up after 8 months. If it's blown out it still sounds amazing.
@@S4RCSTC hell yeah. That's what I like to hear. Sounds great man.
With gutted cats I would be able to run test pipe file tune right ?
I would imagine so but you'd need to check with your tuner
I'm assuming you are stage 2?
Yes. Dual pulley EPL.
How do I gut my cats test pipes expensive
The costly part is the labor to remove and reinstall.
What brand of roof rails are those?
Yakima Jetstream
@@S4RCSTC Thanks, they look great!
I can't seem to find the Vibrant ultra quiet "mufflers" but I can find the ultra quiet resonators. The resonators seem to be what you have in the back, is it possible that's what you purchased and not mufflers?
www.amazon.ca/Vibrant-1141-Ultra-Quiet-Resonator/dp/B000E3VHWI/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=vibrant+ultra+quiet+muffler&qid=1608221132&sr=8-1
Here's the exact item I'm speaking of!
Also correct me if I'm wrong but did you custom fab all of the piping in order to be 2.5"? The pipes not only look custom but appear to be larger than stock exhaust pipes
Yes they are resonators. I mean, technically mufflers are resonators.
@@S4RCSTC thats true and that's kind of what I figured you meant, just wanted to clarify in case I was looking at the wrong item lol
@@S4RCSTC Would you say the setup is overly loud? My current car has a muffler delete and secondary cat delete, and it's quite loud. Trying to steer away from a setup that's not gonna have me looking for cops every time I drive.
It's not loud enough to draw attention from the cops. My neighbors haven't complained about cold starts. It has a deep non raspy tone so it's not obnoxious.
My setup is 2.5 through the downpipe section and 3" back through the ultra quiets. In hindsight is probably go 2.5 all the way with the custom tips. Not sure what that would do to the tone though.
What does gutting the cats do exactly?
They can’t melt and fail if they’re not there. At stage 2 they can't handle the extra heat.
@@S4RCSTC does it change the sound at all? And if the car was stock let’s say, would the cats failing be an issue?
@@joelwerre7704 the known problem with the 3.0T with gutted cats or test pipes is rasp. I worked with ESG to come up with a design to kill it and it worked beautifully. Cats failing on a stock setup is rare.
Have you blown those MF mufflers out yet?
whats the setup?
Just added in the description
Any smell
Yes. Gutted cats or test pipes will cause a smell. It's only bad if you're stopped with the windows down.
So did you replace the stock test pipes for test pipes of your choice ?
No I just had my failing cats gutted out. Less harsh rasp than test pipes.
How is the magnaflow x-pipe holding up
Still good
