Certain points to note; we say "Autumn" not "Fall" on this side of the Atlantic Ocean, we use pints not quarts and we indubitably do not travel by "block" throughout our cities. Furthermore ACD would never resort to scatology in his stories. Good plot though.
I noticed this in another of the new sherlock stories. I checked it out. Apparently, we used to use both fall and autumn, here in England! But we have defaulted to using autumn. Similarly in N America they defaulted to using fall. So using fall here, c. 1900, may be perfectly accurate. However, I don't like it either!
Not only should the reader have an English accent, he should be more professional and have at least some idea of what Holmes and Watson might sound like. This might be a good story like rest of these but I’ll have to tune back in later.
I was really looking forward to hearing this one, but it is definitely beyond the skills of the whatever nationality reader...will check back in a month-- from a Yankee.
Sandal from East anglia, a homage to Scandal from Bohemia. Very witty!.🤣 The author has a great sense of humour and well written but have to say, as a Brit and Suffolk girl, I found the pronunciations a little irritating. It's a minor thing and apart from this, the narrator did a fine job. I love his American accent. Well done! Very enjoyable!
While everyone knows staff always gossip about their employers, this author makes Holmes appear very stupid because he didn’t warn Mrs. Hudson to divulge nothing about him, nor let anyone wait alone in his rooms, nor did he refrain from informing her of all the details of his methods. Would the “real” Sherlock Holmes make such elementary errors? i think not.
You can well have an English accent as long they can be understood. Quite an act over there to show that they are different and better than the next town down the road. Frankly I became weary of the act and have no desire to return.
The narrator is not The old Sherlock Holmes reader..the English from England no presents therefore nolonger enticing and tones of different characters is off as well ....
The comment section is almost as good of a story as the book. People sure have a lot of opinions they need to share about the free book they are listening too as though those opinions are facts. Lol. In case you missed it, one person who doesn't like it really liked 2 other books from this same channel, they even got her through the holidays and then on her comment somebody decides to tell her because of her last name she's not what she claims to be. (even though she doesn't have her dna posted and maybe just married a guy and changed her last name). And yes today I have nothing important I want to do so listening to a new Sherlock inspired story and reading other crazy people critique it is perfect 🥰. I hope I like the story as much as the others in only a few minutes in. 😅
I’m in agreement with you, I think.I find it ridiculous for some to comment on a free book provided by someone else. Don’t like it? Move on. Otherwise, maybe just say thank you
Please, please engage a British reader who can pronounce the language and place names correctly!
I'm American and totally agree!! The narrator didn't even pronounce a book of the Bible correctly. Galatians is not too hard to enunciate.
@@SMichaelDeHarttotally agree with the above. Adonis and chaste also not hard to pronounce correctly
Thankfully I’m not the only one .With all due respect to the narrator Sherlock Homes should only be narrated by a British narrator.
To all yanks stick 2 Tom sawyer and huckleberry finn thanks.
Serena Eagle = Ireen Adler, very funny and a good find. Nice to listen to.

I had to look up scatology but now that I understand. 😂. I agree.

Needs several re-writes to achieve consonance with Doyle's.

Tbis is such a brave attempt to send up the famous detective😊

Your not a Yank
Your a English Transplant
Last name from England
America belongs to Indians
Great story, but the reader reminds me of the policeman from 'Allo 'Allo.

Some serious mispronunciations here… 😮

Need to have an English accent to narrate Sherlock Holmes.
You can well have an English accent as long they can be understood. Quite an act over there to show that they are different and better than the next town down the road. Frankly I became weary of the act and have no desire to return.
Can't listen to this accent butchering the English language and pronunciation. Sorry.
Narrator is just...off. the accent and vocal tones are just not right
Lie-very? back to the usual fine English narrator please?
The narrator is not The old Sherlock Holmes reader..the English from England no presents therefore nolonger enticing and tones of different characters is off as well ....
Very poor English pronunciation. This really spoils the fluency of the story.
Nah, this story is not up to scratch.

Learn to write and spell English correctly before criticizing others.
No, gave up because of the terrible mispronunciation of words.
Narrator is too young. Get Mr, Silverleaf.
