I had this on vhs tape when it came out. Wish I could find it today on Blue ray or dvd. This is from the time I grew up in❤ how wonderful we had it! The vehicles are much better today though Japanese inputs made that happen and i don't miss cat gut and silk lines
I came here from lehto's law where he discussed one of Michigan's supreme court decisions penned by this guy. Someone in the comments section pointed me here for a view of the great justice, Voelker. I'm glad i watched and thank you
It’s been 4 years since you commented this but I am unable to find the lehto’s law video you mention here. Please share the link if you can still find it
Among all the fly fishing authors I've read, and I have a large wall unit packed full of their books, Mr Voelker stands out as the second most memorable, necessarily second only to Roderick Haig-Brown (whose writings I was regularly exposed to all through my boyhood in Canada). I wished I had marked Mr Voelkler's passing back in 1991- I somehow didn't catch word of it- but his works including this film stand to commemorate him.
Wow this is amazing, I mostly remember Robert Traver through poetry of Mel Kreiger. Cheers from a old flyfisher in north central Saskatchewan Canada. mrsageflyfisher
I finished with John at Frenchman’s pond about 1985 along with Dave Richie who is the outdoor rider for the Detroit news at that time we didn’t catch any trout but we had a few Manhattan’s
+canerods Who made this video about John Voelker originally? I'd like to get hold of it for a documentary about Bell's Beer labels - as John was pictured on the first label for the Two Hearted Ale a few years before he died.
I have a VHS tape entitled "Trout Madness", Robert Traver (John Voelker). Produced and directed by Elihu Winer. Produced as a video by Thornapple Angling Classics, Steve Spengler, Dick Probst. That's all I know about it.

"my lovely troutlings". gets me everytime. shocked it has only 8k views. this should be required viewing for every trout fisherman.
Wonderful, I smiled all the way through it.
Great writer, met him with my dad in Michigan in about 1960 when I was eight. This film is precious, a real look into history!
When I was in highschool I borrowed the book 4 times, it was taken out 1 time 10 years before I got there. Am proud to have it in my library now.

A fond memory to be sure, I hope you also enjoyed some small Italian cigars as well.
canerods Yes I still have a small package of John’s cigars on my bookshelf
@@paulkerby4829 That's almost a better catch than one of those 'troutlings'!
Hi Canerods - how did you get this footage? is it licensable?
Thank you!

Just curious, do you own the original film?
I have it on VHS and wanted to make it available to others to enjoy, because to my knowledge it long out-of-print.
+canerods Thank you for your reply!
super
I love this video, but am having trouble sending it to others by email.
I have one of those Willy Jeeps sitting in the back yard.
wanna get rid of it?
