While a good video (that even helped me out), I must say that the video felt needlessly long and a bit redundant. I could summarize it in a few simple steps: 1. Insert Video. 2. Right-click and select Transform. 3. (Make sure your properties tab is open. Also, make sure the cursor is on the end of the video, either playing the video or pressing the forward buttons.). Move the center circle to pan the shot and increase the X and Y scales to give it the "zooming" effect. 4. There it is. In fact, a few hours after I watched this video, I realized that by clicking on the right-click option "time" and going to "freeze", this would allow me to pan AFTER zooming in the video. Kind of funny even by the fact that I've started using this software less than a day ago.

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I've just completed my first pan and zoom, and days of pure gloom are starting to lift. It didn't work exactly as shown...the blue side tags used to stretch the image were attached to the sides of my photo - perhaps because I didn't need to crop? Loved all the additional info, which as a beginner I found extremely useful. Thank you again.

I've asked this question a lot in various forums, most recently OpenShot without success. Does OpenShot allow you to "spot shadow" a person or object in a video? Spot shadow implies placing a circle, shadow, whatever around a person or thing that you want to focus on in a video. Think in terms of a football player running the football amid 21 other players on a football field and you want your audience focused on that one player carrying the ball, so you want to highlight him in the video. So, if OpenShot doesn't provide this capability, can you recommend a video editing software (preferably free) that does?
i have been able to create this effect with a 'mask'. i created a gray particle background on a transparent background, with a clear round white opening. then i used it much like an animation overlay in openshot. i hope that makes sense and helps.
How do I restore the default setting on the OpenShot interface? Some of the sections are all over the place and I cannot make it look it did when I first downloaded it. Also, I have a 250 word text in MS Word. How do I scroll this text from bottom to top within a picture or video clip using OpenShot?

Thank you for your helpful video. I think I've come across a problem on my OpenShot though. After I move my image and I go to the end to pan again, the blue dot disappears and I cannot move the image anymore. Do you know what the problem could be?

Select view top of screen and next to views select a different view i.e advanced then re select your chosen view.

unfortunately, the special effetcs are very limited, and no filters for image.
