Didnt know you were in Atlanta area...yeah the district manager said that there will only be a few "anchor" stores or "high volume" stores that will keep Criterion and Arrow in normal stock...off the top of her head she said the Mall of Georgia store and the store in Cumming would be getting the stock from other stores and remaining "normal"
Absolutely loved hearing your love for Harold and Maude - one of my all time favorites!
I also agree on Cinematographe, I want to collect them all but it’s just hard to justify blind buying all of them at that price point with how much they’re releasing. All that said, Go Fish is on the way to my shelf currently and it’ll be my first from them. It’s a great 90’s queer cinema gem and I love that they’re releasing it and that I can finally own it!
Great show- whodunnit suggestions:
• The original “Murder on the Orient Express” is very good and well-paced.
• “The Last of Sheila” is my second favorite film and my favorite whodunnit. A big inspiration for Rian Johnson who made…
• The “Knives Out” series. Terrific little ensemble whodunnits led by an awesome Daniel Craig with little easter egg tributes to “…Sheila” co-writer Stephen Sondheim.
• “And Then There Was None” has several good versions but my favorite is one done for British television a few years ago with Sam Neill and Charles Dance.
• “See How They Run” is a fun romp set in Britain in the early fifties during the initial run of the Agatha Christie play “The Mousetrap.”
Enjoy!
A few I want to grab from this week:
• Journey Into Fear (1943)
• A Prairie Home Companion (2006)
• The Million Eyes of Sumuru (1967)
And maybe…
• Murder on the Orient Express (1974)
Gotta hit the Orson Welles, Robert Altman, and Sidney Lumet bases.
The Million Eyes of Sumuru looked fascinating. Klaus Kinski as President Boong.
Ladykillers is a great movie! Seen it many times. The Tom Hanks version was nowhere near the Alec Guiness version.
Happiness is a long waited gem.
