I agree completely. What about munitions such as hand grenades and rocket propelled explosives? These are arms bearable by a single person. Its a perplexing issue for me, and I wonder how other 2A scholars might integrate these bearable munitions under the umbrella of the Second Amendment.
At the time that the Second Amendment was written, all arms were suitable for military use.

Many Americans who fought in our revolution owned cannon and they were used to drive the British out. Our forefathers also used them in the war of 1812. The second amendment was written to codify our right to defend our country.
During the founding era it was a requirement to have weapons suitable for militia use and it was a punishable offense to not have such weapons.
At the time that the Second Amendment was written, all arms were suitable for military use, and the military itself was for self-defense against The Government.
The only thing preventing me from owning an f-15 should be the price.

Part 1: That phrase isn't as absolute as you think it is. As long as you can bear some arms, your rights aren't being infringed. Simple comparison: The 14th Amendment guarantees your right to travel on public roadways, but it doesn't guarantee your right to operate a Ford F-250 or a liquid nitrogen tanker truck. You need to be qualified, licensed, registered, and insured for the latter two, and your right to travel is not infringed by those requirements. There are other ways to travel (Uber, taxi, plane, train, bus, boat, bike, moped, Chevro-legs) that can get you anywhere you need to go.

That's the balance between your rights and my rights. With rights come responsibilities and duties. You have a duty to try not infringe on my right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. Likewise, I have that same duty to you. Both of us can do things that we have a right to do, but in a way that violates each others' rights. Therefore, we have the responsibility to treat each other as equals and exercise our rights in a way that doesn't diminish the rights of each other and the general public.

Regulations are how we organize and gauge the effectiveness of our reciprocal responsibilities to each other. It is unfortunate that regulations/enforcement is necessary, but too many people routinely fail to voluntarily uphold their duties and responsibilities to their fellow countrymen.
It makes me feel so warm and fuzzy watching an Appeals Court being so dishonest.

States should NEVER be allowed to delay cases, or have extensions. Americans have a right to a "speedy trial", and while this type of case isn't what the Sixth Amendment is designed for, the principals are the same. Justice delayed is justice denied.

It's time. The Supreme Courts must use this case to set in stone that arms that are in common use for ANY lawful purpose can not be banned and that accessories can not be banned. The simple Heller test must be the the only thing that 2A plaintiffs need to meet to win in an arm or accessory ban case.

@@AllAboutSurvival the whole point of the second amendment is to have guns that are capable of arming a militia capable of standing up to the government when the government over exceeds itself! Inherently this would include assault rifles.

I live in the wonderful state of Massachusetts. The land of NO constitutional 2A. Every “assault rifle“ is banned and has been since 1986. Massachusetts just tightened their “assault weapons“ laws and now include “ghost guns“
I am unable to have an A.R. 15 in my home state. Even though as we all know, it’s the most common rifle in the country Massachusetts deemed it to be a “military assault weapon”
When I want to shoot one I go to Florida. I can’t use or have my own firearms in my own home state. It’s dreadful and ridiculously unconstitutional.
I hate this state but I’m stuck here because of having two kids in the school system as well as a wonderful wife that works in the northeast as well and not wanting to disrupt their lives
I'm not starting a family because of how unstable the US is politically and economically. I'm actively trying to move from my own state for the same reason, if I had a lunatic wife from here I'd be screwed.
"I don't want to move to a pro 2A state because my wife and I love our liberal suburban yuppie lifestyle". Guess 2A isn't that important to you after all.
