Wii Anti Piracy Failed + Repair | Read Description

- After mashing the "A" button I was brought to the repair menu. This just wipes the Wii thus unlocking the disc drive. This means the lock was only a software lock. I remembered that I had a copy of RAAE in a drawer and wanted to see If I could unbrick this Wii. I think that Nintendo's repair team used this to recycle Wiis or resell them. Anyways hope you enjoy it!

Fun fact: In the video description it says that the person had "a copy of RAAE" in the drawer. RAAE is the identifier for the Wii Startup Disk. An actual copy of the Startup Disk has never been found but the data for it was leaked in the 2020 Nintendo Gigaleak. Basically what it did is installed the Wii Menu version 1, and any Wii's out in the wild wouldn't accept disks with the identifier RAAE. This was only used in factories where they were made, the disk was inserted and the Wiis were sold. So basically the Startup Disk would do nothing to the locked Wii. The Wii is still made to deny the RAAE identifier (startup disk). The only way the Wii accepts the disk if its system menu was completely wiped. Only then would a startup disk be accepted.
Technically the startup disc was leaked. I love to tinker with stuff so I flashed the blank firmware on one of my wiis just for fun. Then I made a copy of RAAE on a disc.. Then I put the disc in and played around with version 1.0. After that I put the disc in a drawer.
Nintendo service would use this disc to unlock the wii after being locked from the anti piracy. (Thats what I wanted people to think)

@@climbingtooth8716 No copy of the blank firmware exists rn. Only the code of the blank Wii and images of the "Please insert startup disk" exist right now. But I guess you can flash the completely blank Wii code and images on the system and make it accept RAAE?
Maybe the Anti piracy works like that:

Dolphin was the codename for the Nintendo GameCube, not the Nintendo Wii. The codename for the Nintendo Wii was "Revolution".

I love that the Wii Startup Disk tool is using the same font Windows notepad uses and (I’m pretty sure) is just Notepad. Great fakes- some of the more believable anti-piracy screens out there.

I think for a more realistic screen, instead of blocking the console, it informs you that either
1.The disk may be damaged (and to get it repaired/exchanged)
or
2. That the disc is a counterfeit, and to demand your money back if you have payed for the disc. Then eject disc and press a button to return to the main menu
Still pretty cool tho!
This is a check to detour piracy. You know if your buying a fake disc most of the time.
@@climbingtooth8716quite true, great video nontheless. Though having a scratched/dirty disc can make the disc reader act weird considering how the light refracts. Blocking the console is definitely a very nintendo thing to do regardless

@@climbingtooth8716 if you bought the disc without prior knowledge (which some can be tricky), this method would probably be more illegal than it already is. Hey, at least it doesn't call 911 on you as if it's an emergency (when it isn't).

Hey, that worked last time in some other video, so that means that the FAILED screen at 1:25 is showing all the possibilities to confuse the criminal.
This is probably a different disc than the other one... If only it's not the same game, meaning that there are irregularities within the check system itself. This is more of the anti-piracy system malfunctioning

Parts of this video that seem weird: First, the use of a Wii Startup Disc. Nobody has one, even if you burn it. Next, "Dolphin Disc Validator" is slightly wrong. This is a Wii game, shouldn't it be "Revolution Disc Validator" instead? Lastly, sure, you can disable the optical drive. What about disabling the entire console by blowing a fuse? Because you could just use homebrew. You'd prevent that by disabling the USB port (afaik there is one), the SD card slot and the optical drive. This isn't criticism, but it would make more sense.
Oh, also, why is there the 3DS Settings music? At least, as far as I know it is. I need answers. The Wii was released in 2006, so the only possible time this would've happened was with the Wii mini, released around the time the 3DS was.

Nintendo service would have a startup disc or a disc with firmware on it. Dolphin was the codename for the gamecube. The wii is a expanded gamecube so why not use the name dolphin. Also looking the disc drive locks alot for a non homebrewed wii.

Disk ID RAAE (Wii Startup Disk) Is Used For Very Early Wiis In Stores. The Disk Would Install Wii Menu 1.0. Its Files Were Dumped Online Thankfully And Now We Have The Disk Files. (Still No Real Disk :\ )
But you can burn the disk that's what I did read the description.
