Today we showed our depth, our third line dominated Florida's third line, that's why we won. Game 7 will be epic and both teams should be very proud to be at the big show on Monday.
Edmonton OILERS is getting better and better . One thing I need to mention is Oilers is playing a clean gentlemen games not like the Panthers playing the dirty games try to win the cup. Go Oilers Go.

Winners make their own puck luck. Down to one final game 7. This last game will actually just be the ultimate contest of wills, who wants it more. Sounds cliché but clichés are clichés for a reason. The Oilers win, it's a historic comeback victory coupled with a historic Florida collapse. An Oilers win may finally see Connor McDavid get his due, puts a huge spotlight on a rookie coach in Kris Knoblach, and supplies a suitable exclamation point to Ken Holland's career. Florida wins and they finally join the family of Stanley Cup winning teams, Paul Maurice finally gets to join the Stanley Cup winning coaches' fraternity, Sasha Barkov gets his due as a great player, Matt Tkachuk finally gets a Stanley Cup for that great hockey family, and Sergei Bobrovsky can finally exorcize his playoff demons and get rid of the "choke" handle. Both teams have a lot to play for. This game will be the ultimate battle of wills.

I was rooting for Edmonton as the underdog. Florida won the game. Good for them - - really, no sarcasm intended.
This particular Stanley Cup tournament was EPIC for all the storylines in it. But both teams left everything they had to say on the ice. And Florida was damned glad to walk away with the win and they knew they were lucky to get it. Just the kind of thing you want to see in a league championship and almost never do.

Keep in mind the refs completely ignored 4 blatant hooking calls on the Panthers and the Oilers STILL dominated.

Home town bias here. Every sports broadcaster showed the zoom of the puck touching blue paint and the guy was off side.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen two people that were so disappointed in the outcome of a game.

Its because you misread actually how well the Oilers played in those first 3 games but were snakebit ... no excuses, but many potential goals were there but not in the net.
You guys were already planning the parade with the cup and didn't realize you were playing the Edmonton Oilers. Once they calibrate their opponents, look out!!! They are truly humble as well, whereas I was surprised by a great deal of arrogance coming that way. Then they solved the blockade methods of Panthers and then they see the Oilers as they are and like I said how they were all throughout games in this series but closing the circuit! Electrifying!!! Exciting offensive and Defensive juggernaut. But all due respect to Florida and their methodology. Your coach was asked about hus tactics and if adjustments were needed and i was shocked to hear him at the 3 to 2 game mark...that he was sticking with what got the Panthers to that point...arrogance of sorts. He was outcoached ... his autobiography will have to have the last pages rewritten IF the Oilers deliver which is of course, yet to be seen. May the best team win! Go Oilers!!!

I love that comment. " very un-Panther like". Still can't figure out why people are surprised that they got dominated, spanked, schooled, humbled and given a reality check in terms of their own, perceived superiority. The Oilers have been doing this to a lot of teams, especially down the stretch and into the playoffs. Bottom line is they are getting out classed and I for one don't see them finding the answers in time.. They, along with their part-time fanbase, are getting a glimpse into The Oilers history, pride, character and the reason they were able to rattle off numerous winning streaks, including the "statement" 16 game run. The fact that they can't bring themselves, as an organization, to admit or acknowledge that they are getting outplayed speaks volumes.

Panther Sphincter’s are extremely tight. That’s a fact…
The difference has been that the Oilers have been consistently willing to take the hit to make a play, whereas some of the Panthers have been going out of the way to make a hit - taking themselves out of position. The Oilers have been outhit every game, but don't retaliate except by scoring.
Nice work as usual from Roy. It's really good to hear actual proper professional sports media talk from a mature, reasonable human being. Maybe instead of screaming and ranting at a half-serious Greg Cote and your employer who has an actual sense of humor about it all, you could check w/ the Panthers on why they stopped playing defense like in games 1-3. Seems reasonable.

Its not complicated, Edmonton travels more than any other team in the league all year, every year...Teams in the East ride a bus half the year or fly an hour. Its just about stamina and Florida isnt used to this type of travel. This is contributing to the difference in energy and speed.

My answer to your question, what are Oilers doing differently? :
Answer:
They Oilers are not doing much differently other than 2 things : they started using "stretch" passes through the neutral zone after Game 3 and just as importantly, Kris Knoblauch stopped double-shifting McDavid and Draisaitl as this was eating up a lot of ice time from our "depth" player especially the "3rd" line.
The 3rd line is actually a top line on other teams (Janmark from Dallas, Brown a former assistant captain on Ottawa and Henrique whose first NHL goal in 2011 was against Bob with Philly then). The Oilers felt they should have won at least 1 of the first 3 games (FL was better in Game 2) so they did not really change their mindset, they came back from a lot of adversity in the regular season (win streaks of 16, 8 and 5 games ? after losing 3 straight games).
The Oilers are simply beating FL to the puck and their system is built around speed and skill. Bob is also weak on the top shelf, blocker side.
