17 years later and it still the best Acura sedan looking at all time, the highest sale units that Acura never seen again. I remember seeing this on Speed Channel when Cable TV was a thing.
This and the TSX of the time were some of the best looking sedans of the 2000s. I know it’s thrown around a lot as a compliment, but they are nearly timeless.
they understeer a lot,I owned 1.They looked great yes but they drove poorly around the corner, they were fine on the highway tho and very reliable especially with the 6 speed.I also owned a 2012 fwd 3.5 and it drove better somehow around the cornerbut it was mated to a slug slow shifting 6 speed auto(terrible transmission).
Years ago, I remember reading an article either in MotorTrend or Car and Driver that was about cars that never should’ve been redesigned. The Acura TL (the redesign after this body style) was one of those listed cars. I wholeheartedly agree. Beautiful sedan.
I have a 2005 tl 195,000 and my interior is shot. Very few passengers and no kids. Owned since new. Been a great car other than that and about to replace timing belt again.
I have owned a 2005 Acura TL, and it was the best car i have owned. However, it was a 5 speed automstic and not the manual transmission. I've been wanting the Acura Tl type s with speed manual but they are extremely rare to find.
Happens on all Honda cars over 10 years old. My 2006 TSX had a right OEM lower control arm replaced in 2019 and the driver's side was replaced with Moog in 2022. Last week I replaced the right side again but this time with a Moog replacement part which is of higher quality and design than OEM. Using ATP Reseal on all rubber parts and fluids (except brake and washer fluid) helps.
It bothers me that the quality of the interior materials was so low…try finding one without dash cracks or ripped seats…ridiculous! I’ve owned a ‘99 RL for almost twenty years, and the interior materials are superior, with NO dash or seat cracks.

One of the best looking cars of the period. And with the J series + 6MT I’m sure it’s excellent to drive
These cars are ugly af. Even back then.

I'm addicted to these retro motorweek videos
I wish mine was a type s but I’m glad I found a 6mt they are becoming harder to find
Don't care if it's a 6MT or automatic, I still want one. I have a 06 TL base and it drives good, but the Type S is the one must have.
Thank u for posting this

I have been seeing comments on Acura TL having issues with Ball Joints and rust. Anyone know or can expand?

I own a 2008 Acura TL (Royal Blue Pearl) with about 120K miles on it. NO DASH CRACKS :)
Unfortunately its one of the flaws of the car, my family's entry level Toyota CHR is miles ahead in terms of build quality.
