- This Sony Hi-Fi has a faulty CD player...the tray will not eject without force & nor will it return to it's closed position without help. Because of this, you cannot play a CD because it cannot detect a CD.
So can I get this Sony to play again? It's over 20 years old...let's find out!
Congrats on that repair. I certainly enjoy a full disassembly video, it has some ASMR to it. I'm curious, does the MiniDisc part work? Those will not die with time in such a notorious way as DCCs, but still I think they do more than a plain CD player.
Yes! The MiniDisc does still work & I play some discs on it every so often. I found the recording aspect of the MiniDisc player on this really useful back when I recorded a lot of things.
I'm glad you liked the video, I thought I would give a non-verbal video a try out...mainly because I wasn't able to do a full voice-over and just wanted to get the video done & move on to my next project.
@@TheRetroStuffGuyWhat is the reason if the minidisk is stuck and does not come out? Does the belt also need to be changed or is it a gear mechanism? Could the mechanism be worn out or can it be repaired?

Ha, I've got an AC/DC disc stuck in my 3-tray changer but am not comfortable with disassembling the system.
Give it a go! What's the worst that could happen?
Do I really need to answer that? LOL
Definitely like AC/DC!!!🤘🤘🤘👏👏👏

I have a similar system (dhc-md373) and I just want to use the system to play music through the aux port. Is it possible to make the loud noise stop without having to completely disassemble it?
I don't believe so. With my one even when I left the CD tray in the out position when you turned it off/on it would always try to engage.
