Maybe it was because he sought that he was stronger with their Chi and it was how he gained his Strength and how he was able to damage Po badly in their Battle after this. There’s even a Deleted Scene where it is implied Po dies because of his sending to the Spirit Realm in nearly a second. Tai Lungs Chi might’ve given him more strength among many others which is probably why he never used them on Po and the other Pandas.
kai throws the masters chi into the air the same moment he finishes saying his line (i forget what it is. “take him out” or something?) and that’s when the beat first drops. so he prob just lined up those two things together and then the rest fell into place
