- I am very grateful to Czech climber Klára Kolouchová, who invited me to join her at U.S. International expedition to the second highest peak of the World, mystic K2 at Karakoram, Pakistan! UPDATE ABOUT THE RECORD:
After publishing this video I am receiving links to interesting to great drone videos at high altitude. Great polish film maker David Kaszlikowski sent me this unique footage of David Lama and Corey Rich: • Mammut 150 Peaks Proje... . It made a bit sad, as I was going to delete my record from the title. BUT! When checking flying log I found, that my take-off altitude was 3664 m a.s.l., what I can confirm when checking the satellite image. So, I am still not aware of any other higher flight of another commercial and civil drone :-) However, there are more higher flight with custom build drones, i.e., by awesome John Griffith who flew at 6500 this spring. Later on, I was reached by Lukas Furtenbach, who flew his drone in the same season at 8000 at Everest CIV: • Start Drohnenflug Sout... Congratulations dude!

Although, I have never been to either of them but it is true. K2 is a killer mountain according to the Mountaineers. Success rate is 71% in K2 where 96% at Everest.

@@Count.Dracula46you are correct. The camera view is deceptive coz camera shows whatever comes in its sight of lens but not its magnitude and scale. These are 25000-28000 feet tall mountains, almost height at which a jetliner flies.

I am British and travelled to Pakistan in July 2016. A group of 14 keen British enthusiasts, wanting to see this heavily beauty of Pakistan and we sure did. In our 8 day trip, we managed two base camps, Nangaparbat and Rakaposhi. I have never witnessed a more beautiful place on earth. The only downside of our trip was the short duration of the trip. Travelling time killed us and we packed too much in this short trip. We needed at least 14 days for a perfect trip. Would love to see this region again. Would love to see the Pakistani government take more interest in cleaning up the route via Naran and Kagan. These towns were once magnets of wonderful simple beauty and now they are full of tents and open plan hotels.
Wait how did you bring 2 drones, tripod, slider, DSLR(s), batteries, chargers, + all of your supplies for 2 weeks with you on a climb to the 2nd highest peak in the world?? I think that's more amazing than the actual footage.

Petr, seriously, this is just amazing. I'm an ultralight hiker but I love to shot as well. I can't imagine me taking Phantom drone to the wild, however maybe there are still good and compact drones to fly go pro?

Mavic is as sharp as Phantom, but you have to focus it right :-) Karma is not on the market already, it was not reliable :-)
Oh. Such a frustration. The idea to have gimbal, camera and a drone in one is fascinating. I hope they fix it. Today I shot everything with my NEX-6 mirrorless camera and a few lenses. It is quite light compared to my previous DSLR combo. But for those stunning shots you need a drone :)
