The talent positions are getting filled. The issue is the semi skilled and un- skilled are able to standby and survive for a certain amount of time without needing to go get a job. Wages are not going to increase anymore than they have for those positions. The Subway/McD/Amazon warehouse types are not going to make anymore than what is being offered now, on average. When you compress salaries too much, those skilled workers request more, and if they don't get what is desired, they will move on.

Depending on what city you live in, the pay for a public sector job isn't enough any more to buy a home and raises don't keep up with increases in home values. For example; in Franklin, TN where Ramsey is located the average base salary for a teacher is $51,206 yet the average home value is $863,149 and $460,447 in Nashville. Using Ramsey's own ratios, before any deductions, the average teacher has $1066 a month for housing in an area where the average rent is $1,819 a month.

    • @listerinr

WFH has been a blessing to people with disabilities, because it means that someone who can work without the pressures of an office, can work. If the job can be done on a computer from any location, then their may not be a need to work in a office surrounded by sick people, petty office politics, and the gas / stress of driving to work. As long as their productive, WFH should be an option for many jobs. Trying to strong arm workers to return looks bad, and destroys moral after they have enjoyed not dealing with traffic, saved on babysitting, or listened to their favorite music all day. Dave you may not like it, but many of the jobs at your company should be WFH, and you should care for workers that need the option.

I applied for many many jobs for months. I found out that hundreds if not thousands of people are applying for majority of jobs. So, it's not just one two three to find a job today.

I’ve been looking for any entry office job and can’t get one 100+ people apply and they are extremely selective. Some jobs are very short most are very competitive

Employers don't want to take the time to hire and train people that have dedicated thousands in schooling and certifications in the career field they want but instead list job postings requiring previous experience wondering where all the workers are. It's almost impossible to get your foot in the door with a career you want so naturally are stuck in retail/fast food industry with student loan debt. Unless you know someone to get you a career, good luck.

Its not that weird when you think about it. Rent, house prices and general cost of living are so high that even 45-50k a year isnt enough anymore. Min wage hasnt increased in like 20 years yet everything else has - simple math.
