- After O Level Results, many CIE Students are in debate of Join A Level or FSC but I am lucky enough to experience both of this system. So, listen carefully to the points which I am giving in this FSC VS A-Level Video.
FSC is for those students who are interested in getting marks not the one with the base of getting concept first formula.
Ratta Ratta lagao bas aur bhi nhi hai. A Level on other hand is concept lagao bas concept lagao.

transitioning from o levels to fsc can be really hard, but I feel like times have changed. Boards are defo flawed but we are segueing into concept-based learning. Examiners arent using the same beat up mark schemes anymore. Also, you can build your concepts in fsc even if the exams dont test you on it. Idk about everyone but as a board student, I have never stuck to mere ratta. This is just my opinion tho:)
I am a student of fsc part 2 and I completely understand what you are saying, i mean, you are completely right, in fsc we are forced to write book lines in exams.

I have just returned from my first day of college(ICS). The teachers mostly shifted our focused and emphasised on “ presentation, beautifulness(phool bootey) & ratta” i really urge all the o level students to NOT TO GO FOR LAHORE BOARD(ics, fsc etc)..meri toh majburi thii financial situations ki waja sey..please try your best to go for A levels..

@@jen-io6ji ASalam U Alikum. I’m in my 2nd year of ics..have exam tomorrow but that’s all irrelevant. For your answer, I would say it depends if you actually had any level of connection in o levels like you enjoy the conceptual understanding in comparison to Full on memorisation of material. If that’s your thing then go for it otherwise you have ics. Best thing i would suggest you to join “Pre classes” of some college or academy. if you have good enough grades, you can get in (0-10)rupees like in Punjab college otherwise you might have to pay a little but that depends on your status.

fsc may be "ratta" but a levels is ENTIRELY conceptual. You can route learn the whole book but you will need to put in a lot of extra effort in order to ace the exams. You'll NEVER know what may come in the exam but when doing fsc you get a rough idea.

A levels is great for those who need to go abroad because finding admission abroad with fsc is hard as you’ll most likely need to do a few courses and again, A levels is entirely conceptual where as fsc is entirely based on route learning. It is really hard to move onto conceptual learning after route learning your whole life. (Really hard transition). However, you can get admission easily in LUMS and a few other universities in Pakistan with A levels if u want to go into specific fields.
HOWEVER getting into any medical college becomes really hard. The merit gets higher and higher every year because not many good medical colleges and growing population. A* is considered like 95%, comes down to 85%. the percentage is reduced. Also the entry test for medical colleges is based on the fsc syllabus so if you do a levels you’ll have to learn the fsc syllabus before the exam.
It honestly depends on you, list your pros of cons. I’m good at route learning and don’t want to risk not getting into medical colleges in Pk with doing A levels so I’ll be doing fsc. Also, a levels is really expensive. In my school, 75,000/- is the monthly fees for a level students. But that’s not the case for every school. But few structure is def more expensive.
Also a levels is not easy at all. You don’t have to give Islamiyat Urdu or Pakistan studies exams HOWEVER even if you learn your whole book, you’ll still stand at a B or C. Because it’s so conceptual, the questions that come in exams are really different than the questions in the book. A lot of past paper practice is required. For someone who route learns that becomes really hard because you have to experience and don’t really know what the examiner is asking for. No matter how much you’ve prepared. You will NEVER know what type of question will come in ur exam, and they’re not fond of repeating questions.

Totally agree I gave my caie exams this June 2024 and currently doing FSC and can’t survive becuz olevels is totally diff from FSC the pattern and everything one can only survive FSC after olevels if you can manage

Here there is no concept nothing you just have to cram each and every word even the periodic table proton no of elements also the mass no and in olevels periodic table is give at the end of exam . Moreover the writing over here matters a lot , cut wala marker etc and the questions are simple no conceptual just ratta
And in olevel you gain the concepts learn them by heart from the book in FSC totally opposite just ratta ratta

I have currently given my 10th exams but my concepts are totally clear. Federal board has also introduced its conceptual studies under the banner of SLOs which the ratta baaz students are fearing of. In short, now fsc or matric from Federal Board is NO MORE A RATTA RATHER CONCEPT. Ok, now let me tell you my problem. My concepts are clear since grade 1 bcz I have been studying in a good private school. Now at this time I want to switch to A levels BUTTT...
1) Its too expensive
2) Students of A levels have to suffer in entry tests
3) I am not sure if after matric I would adjust in A Levels system or not
Note: I am really NOT interested in medical
* I am a high achiever of board without ratta

@@MystiqueUniverse to be honest, i just gave my second years exams last month and now done with my FSC, I sometimes feel that it was rhe worst decision I made mainly because I still have to opt for Private university. But if you have given your O'levels with A's then I dont think so doing FSC is hard for Olevels students. Infact I think Cambridge students are better students of FSC. You can try but in my case I dont think so my merit would be high enough for Government.

@@MystiqueUniverse The merit ( scholarships) for Government seats is very high. Its compulsory to score above 90% to get admission in Government universities.

No marks are not cut, I was also confused, I researched and ask one who are currently in University(of Pakistan) after completing their A levels, their is only equilance from percentage to marks as Pakistan education system consider marks and percentage instead of grade.
A*(grade) will convert into 90 for 100 marks
A=85
B=75
C=65
You research more for authentic so that you are able to believe, I even didn't believe, "Your 10% are cut", this sentence is just a total worn statement

yes equivalency mei marks are deducted for a levels students. i have contacts of people in Universities like aga khan and king edward and dow.they all have mostly done fsc to get into mbbs as it is more marks scoring. secondly, mcat is made from fsc books so it's easier for fsc students. don't believe any lies and do ur own research

Very well explained bro! I was in same dilmma after exams got postponed this summer. But thankfullly I decided at the last moment to go for alevels. And now I am giving olevel exams in Oct/Nov and doing Alevels as well simultaneously. Online classes record kar leta hoo jab exams khatam ho jaye ge tu tamam missed classes ko revisit karloon ga.

mene o level kr ke abhi FSC select kr chuka hon. FSC mujhe mushkal lag rahi ha lekin age mene medical men jana ha aur A level kr ke 10 % number detuct hote hen. Abhi mujhe FSC continue krni chaiye. Yahan to extreme level ratta hai bahi

FSc is an abbreviation for “Faculty of Science”. Simply put, FSc students are those students of Intermediate who choose to study science related subjects for their 11th class and 12th class board exams.

It depends on school. You should definitely go for it because it's much more conceptual and as he explained it's not dependent on your writing or anything but the content of answer. I'm also an O level student.
It also depends on school... Divisional Public school has 10,000 fees and papers are in 9 and 10 so no year is wasted!

It would be hard to get admission in govt medical college after doing a levels because of the equivalency issue. It preferred to do fsc if you want to get admitted into govt medical college.

You said that you were first in matric then you camed to o level and then to fsc but then again to A level so how many of your years got wasted im asking because im a little bit confused too
Switching between matric to O level was just like getting promoted from 7th class(MATRIC) to 8thth Class( O Level) so es mein koi loss nhi tha.
Yes after joining FSC, i have to stick to it for around 7 to 8 months so wahan 1 saal hova.
One last thing too im not able to study maths good because of covid and lockdown no tuitions were available and i was very mentally depressed to because the expected grades and oct nov thing had to be selected it has very much affected my brain too so i just wanted a suggestion that if i give a retake of maths it will waste one more year of mine as i had repeated class 9th o level so what should i do and should i be a private canidate for A level so would i still get admission in universities

I am in igcss right now I wanted to know how much A s I need to get a full scholarship in any college of a level
As far I know, some colleges starts scholarship from 3 A Grade to 8 A grade. They have sort of scholarships percentage chart based on the number of A grade you have.
3A: 10%
4A: 30%
5A: 60%
6A: 70:
7 or 8 A: 100%
